Thank you for sharing I hope I will be able to do both that day. were prepared for whatever come at us lol. the good thing is I feel confident about the interview and have nothing to worry about besides if the officer is rude.  nothing that we could do about that lol

You’ve got this! As my husband kept reminding me, don’t worry about the interview, everything we had/already provided and the answers to any questions were the truth, so there is nothing to worry about it. The testing portion wasn’t as terrifying as I imaged. Sending you guys so much luck, you’re almost at the end!! :)

  2. I had my N400 interview on 2/15 with my i751 pending since October 2021. After the test and interview the officer did tell me he was recommending me for citizenship but did explain that the pending i751 would hold things up. He said he would work on getting it approved so could be put forward for the oath ceremony. When we filed i751, we lived in TN-application was at the TX service center, we moved to CT this past summer. After the interview, that afternoon, we got a notification that the i751 had been moved jurisdiction and would be processed. The next day, 2/16 we got a notification that the i751 had been approved and an oath ceremony letter mailed. We did receive a letter from USCIS yesterday confirming i751 was approved but I wouldn’t get a card after being approved for N400. I’m not sure if we were just lucky that i751 got approved so quickly or because the application was so old?!

Congrats!! do you think the document I'm bringing is enough? what documents did you bring with you? because that's all we have. and what questions did they ask you?

Thanks! More than enough, probably more than us! Our process from applying was pretty quick, we applied in Oct 2023, so it was anything we had from that date forward, which wasn’t a whole lot- updated health/car insurance for this year, invoices with both our names on it, updated bank statements, we brought photos purely because we had been asked for them during the adjustment of status interview. Once the testing portion was completed, the actual interview was fine, a lot easier than the adjustment of status interview. They mostly asked questions that they already had the answers to in our file-where we met, where we live, who lives in our house, we have a 2 year old, they asked about him, where we have lived since I moved here (we moved state over summer), my employment history since being here. The office did ask for dates too: when we started dating/engagement/marriage/lived at address etc. That was pretty much it, I was expecting more tbh.

  4. Hello!

In was in the same situation as you-had my N400 interview with a pending i751. My N400 letter did not mention a combo interview at all. I brought everything listed on the letter along with anything recent with our names on it. Interview on 2/15, hubs was told to stay in the waiting room, the only things I was asked for were my GC, drivers license and passport- I had gotten a new passport since moving to the US, I was asked for the expired passport too. Officer didn’t ask for anything else. Including waiting time to be called, I was in and out of the building in 42minutes! N400 approved at the interview, got notification the next day that i751 was approved too. Good luck at your interview!

  5. Hey everyone!

after having zero movement after filing I751 on 10/8/21, we filed for citizenship on 10/10/23, we were shocked at how quickly that process went tbh, I had the interview on 2/15, again we were shocked at how quickly that was (we checked in at 10.38am, waiting about 10 minutes for me to me called, hubs had to wait in the waiting room, and we walked out of the building at 11.20). The officer told me I had passed and he would put me forward for the oath ceremony. He also explained what would slow down the oath ceremony was the fact my green card was still pending, he told me he would work on that after we left. On the drive home, I got 2 separate notifications, one for N400 stating an oath ceremony letter would be mailed and another saying the I751 had moved jurisdiction (was originally at the Texas service center when we first filed, moved to Hartford on 2/15). On 2/16, multiple more notifications-oath ceremony letter mailed, and later that evening, notification that the I751 was finally approved-it made us laugh. So glad we’re almost at the finish line!
good luck to all those waiting and thank you to everyone who helped us on the way :)

Did you move on K1 and got married in the us?

I am wondering what about my greencard and passport. I have a I 551 stamp in my passport and still waiting for the greencard with maiden name. i contacted uscis they said you need to change your name legally in the court but in the state i am living they do not change it because your marriage certificate is the proof that you can change your name legally. its just super frustrating!

i havent applied for my driving license and need to contact bank and social security and we will see.

but how did you change the passport?

Yes, I came on a K1. I wonder if you get US identification would USCIS accept that as a change? The court house might be able to give you some good advise?

The bank accepted our marriage certificate as a change to my name even though all I had was my passport and Irish drivers license in my maiden name, they were really helpful and made that easy.

For my passport, I applied online, I had to send my passport and marriage certificate to the passport office in Ireland and they changed it no problem. The only issue I had was it took a while for me to get my passport back, which of course was due to covid

  7. They will return it. We filed our ROC, we wrote a check for the wrong amount, it was sent back within a week. All we had to do was resend the packet with a new check. Once we did that, they issued an extension within 2 days. Totally panicked when it got send back but it came with a notice basically just telling us what to do- I.E send an updated check

Just wanted to share my experience. My husband had his AOS interview yesterday 2/4/2020 and the officer seemed to think we had a solid case but our Medical records had gone missing! 🤬 We had extra copies of the DS-3025, but not the other one that we turned in at the port of entry. We never had a copy because it was always in a sealed envelope and we handed it over at the Port of Entry. Anyway I read somewhere in a flagged discussion that even though it is their fault for losing it we are left having to pay for another medical exam. Annoying! So he said he would be sending a letter of RFE. Anyway what to do. I guess I'll forget about it in the long run. Hopefully after the medical exam all will go smoothly.

The same thing happened to us!! Beyond frustrating, I feel your pain. From the time I had the new medical to having my card in had was about 6 extra weeks. Hope it all goes smooth for you guys

I found out on another thread that as long as you do everything on time and have your medical certificate from overseas (DS-3025) then you do not have to do it.

That’s supposed to be the process, but we got the short end of the stick. Had the medical overseas in March, submitted the DS3025 in May with the AOS and still had to redo it. Our guess is that it was lost. When I redid the medical, the physicians office said that they were seeing it a lot in the last few months-the Nashville office were getting people to redo medicals even though they were in date. We were just unfortunate.
Everything crossed that’s it’s smooth sailing for you guys.

  10. Hi everyone,

I just found this thread and wonder if anyone can offer insight or has been in a similar situation. I also apologize for the long post!

I moved to the the states in April on a K1 visa, got married and applied for AOS/EAD/AP within 2 weeks of our marriage. Then came the long wait to hear anything. The first thing we heard about was our AOS interview which came as a pleasant surprise, we honestly thought it would be close to the year mark. Anyway, we had the interview, in our opinion it went pretty well, the officer was nice, she didn’t ask us for much evidence even though we stressed we had everything stated in the interview notice. We left our interview filling pretty confident. We were then completely shocked when we got a RFE for a medical-I has completed a medical in March, it is marked as completed. We submitted the DS portion with our AOS application and had it at the interview We were at a loss. I spoke to 3 separate officers to query this and get more clarity on it. All that could be seen on the system was the RFE letter we received and nothing more. All 3 officers commented it didn’t make sense. The final officer was a tier 2 officer who recommended 2 things- submit an e-request highlighting it was for the Nashville office and comply with the RFE, so we did both.
We got the automated response saying the e-request would be replied to by December 4th, as of today, December 20th, it still hasn’t been. I got a new medical- the doctor couldn’t understand why I was there as the original one was complete, sent it off, we know it has been delivered as we tracked it-it was signed for in the Nashville office.
I contacted USCIS this week regarding both things. I was told the following- it can take up to 30 days to respond to an e-request, it was day 30 the day I spoke to them and as of that day Nashville hasn’t acknowledged they have received our RFE. He went on to tell that I should hear something this week from them particularly because we sent the e-request. USCIS won’t look into it until it’s been 60 days since our RFE was received and this is our biggest concern. That will be 5 days before the RFE needs to be submitted or face a denial. Has anyone been in a similar situation with Nashville? Did you hear anything about your RFE? Was it acknowledged? Did it work out? We could be panicked for no reason at all.
The last update on our USCIS profile was September 23rd stating our interview had been scheduled and nothing since.
