  1. Finally had my oath ceremony in Atlanta last Friday. It was a solemn experience. I literally chocked repeating the words from the oath of allegiance. All covid protocols were observed, we sat 6ft apart and were masked. The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes. Then we were offered the opportunity to register as voters. I did. Felt good selecting "yes" to the are you a US citizen question. I know it's still a bit of a waiting game for many. Hang in there, the day does finally arrive and when it does it will be well worth it.
  2. He was with me. The officer that called out my name said only the applicant should go into the interview room. My husband persuaded the officer and he was allowed in. The officer said that my husband has to be part of the interview now that he is in the room with me so some questions were directed at him. For example, our former address, details about our children, and tax returns. What I found strange though was being asked to waive my right to representation. I had an immigration attorney on file when I applied for N400. My husband and I didn't have a chance to discuss. I just agreed and signed the waiver but trust me I was panicking and asking myself all kinds of questions.
  3. About my interview... Friendly officer. He asked me to waive my rights for representation (we had an immigration lawyer prepare my application). I found it weird but I agreed and signed the waiver on the tablet in front of me. He then went through the usual questions to establish if our marriage is legit, just pretty much verifying stuff that we already had in the application form. He had my entire file from Adjustment of Status in 2018 to present. Huge file with all my documents lol I found it fascinating that they shipped it from my previous state where i lived before going to Atlanta, GA. He asked my former address which was like 3 years ago omg thank goodness I remembered including the zipcode. My husband was surprised, he barely remembered. Initially I was asked to go into the interview room alone but my husband asked to join. He basically insisted that he wanted to provide moral support so the officer agreed. My husband thought he would just be sitting there and I would be answering all the questions. Nope. The officer asked him how we met, where we lived before Atlanta and to show him a photo of our son. My husband showed it to him on the phone. It was an interesting request. I had my son's birth certificate but we were not asked for it. Apologies if my narration is disjointed! Then he asked the civics questions. What is the capital of your state, why do some states have more representatives than other states, where is the statue of liberty, why did the colonists come to America, what event took place on 9/11, what's one power of the federal government. I got all 6 so he stopped there. Next it was the questions about have you ever been arrested etc Then he said I am recommending your approval, there is a ceremony on Friday, and Saturday, choose one day. I said Friday. Then he asked me to wait outside for my letter. The interview was about 20 minutes. The wait time though was long. My appointment was 12:25 and I didn't go in until 2:00pm. Then I waited an extra hour for the oath ceremony notice printout.

  5. I had my n400 interview on Monday at the USCIS office in Atlanta. Went well. Was approved on the spot. I was invited to come back this Friday for the oath ceremony! Since there literally wasn't any time to mail me the notice, they asked me to wait for the printed version. After about an hour I was given my printed oath ceremony notice. A digital version was also uploaded on the USCIS portal. Super excited! I think I'm gonna begin passport application immediately. Good luck to everyone still waiting.
