Hi, I have my interview tomorrow and just wondering about the appointment email... I have everything else. I'm wondering if this the instructions page to print? and if not, I haven't received an email saying the appointment date/time...I just scheduled it myself...

    thank you in advance :)

Did you book the interview yourself or did the embassy schedule it for you? I've just filled in DS160 and wondering where to pay visa fee and if I need to schedule interview myself and if so, how.

    Good luck for tomorrow!! :D

They have to be translated into English, the language of the United States, because you are applying for a US visa. The way you said that sounds like if you were interviewing in Spain your English documents would need to be in Spanish, etc. Not sure if that was what you meant.

That link you provided is under US citizen services, which you aren't. You need to be in the Visa section on your K1 instruction page> Required documents.

Documents do not need a paid professional translation service. They must be signed and "certified" by the translator who writes a statement that includes two things:

    • The translations are accurate and complete; and

    • He or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.

If your birth certificate was in German, you could use anyone fluent in both English and German...maybe the German teacher you know down the road for example.

That’s what I was planning to do. One of my family friends is translating for me. Would that be enough then for my birth certificate? They would accept it and I don’t need to provide anything else?

actually doing a bit of reading up on it, it seems that your GP is correct, its usually only given to pregnant women in the UK. However, in the US it is administered to adults, and is a requirement for AOS. Therefore, you *may* be short of the pertussis vaccine for your AOS unless youve had a pertussis vaccine recorded in the past. Someone may be able to clarify.

I had it multiple times as a baby and it’s recorded in my foreign documents *shrugs* idk. Everything has just been a headache for me 🙃 all these inconsistencies.

Even though I was born in Greece, my parents decided to only get me British citizenship, so my birth certificate is a British one that went through the British Consulate in Athens, Greece. Still a British birth certificate, just filed abroad. I know that any documents in a foreign language have to be translated to the language of the consulate/embassy you are going through. To request for your birth certificate, I assume it would either be a case of finding the contact details for that department of your birth certificate country, or failing that, contact your nearest consulate/embassy of that country.

Oh right. I have dual citizenship of both Britain and my birth country. I don’t have a british birth certificate. I already have my foreign birth certificate in my hand, it’s sort of like a mini passport in terms of appearance. Should I just get that translated? Would that be enough for the interview you think?

So I had no idea where my birth certificate was so I applied a copy by going to https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate. It took around a week to get it and when I received it, it states clearly that it is a certified copy.

I have attached a picture of it below.

You were born in Greece right? So your birth certificate is in Greek. I was born abroad too, somewhere in the Middle East. Can I also request for that document? Or no? Assuming I wasn’t born in a European country. I’m really not sure how it works, man. Being born in a foreign country seems to make things too difficult.

My plan was to translate my birth certificate to English and provide them with that. Would that not be enough then?? If anyone else can help I’d appreciate that too.

    Thank you!

The affidavit was completed by my fiancée yes we didn't require a co-sponsor I brought the original of the affidavit but (poor) scans of the W2/bank statements. Literally, flicked to the salary page and the signature page and that was it. Topped off with the letter of employment and she was happy :)

Ah, okay. Thanks. You didn't have to bring any proof of your own income in the form of bank statements, then? Just your fiancée's.

I booked my medical for April 8th. What date would you advise to book the interview? End of April/beginning of May?

@VanillaCats - if you have no proof of having the vaccinations, I’d suspect that you’d be treated as if you hadn’t had them. So presumably, all you need to do is go to your current GP and get the vaccinations - you’ll then have proof and you’re good to go. No worrying needed, sounds easy to resolve.

No, no... I have a yellow card with a record of all the vaccinations I received in the UK as a child (from 2001 onwards) On the card it says, 'claimed to have had the vaccinations in birth country' but next to it, they wrote that they provided me with boosters of all those vaccinations again. So I have a record of that and have already had those vaccinations, just the boosters. But I am saying that that is all the proof I have.

I don't think I need them again....I've already had them done in the UK....

Also, last week I went and had the booster for tetanus, diphtheria and polio as well as meningitis ACWY done.

    Nope.

Can't edit my post above for some reason. We didn't get 'red books' in my birth country... just a piece of paper which is buried away somewhere and I'd probably have to spend 10 years finding it (that is IF I ever find it) as I've never needed it before in my life.

You need something that shows the needed shots and dates given  that are explained in detail in my post above. They won't take your word that you "had all your babay shots".

Hmm, what if I don't have it? They're from ages ago and my mum cannot find the foreign copy of my vaccination record in which my baby shots were recorded.

oh nice ! i`ll look into this, im sure even if they do charge itll be much cheaper, not looking forward to it though, not a fan of needles ! ill prob skip to post April 1st to avoid flu one too !

Yeah, it'll definitely be cheaper. I was super nervous today but it was really quick and the pain is minimal :) Good luck

  11. Hi guys, I moved to the UK when I was 4 so had all my baby and toddler vaccinations in my country of birth. I got boosters for all of them again while in UK but only have a card with the info. Would that be enough info for my medical?

hey guys ! at similar position as you were about a month ago.

Regarding the vaccinations, they dont seem to cost too much from Knightsbridge or are the prices inaccurate ?

    Influenza £14

Tetanus and diphtheria and polio £40

    Measles, mumps and rubella £50

Sure £90-104 isnt amazing, but at least it would get done at once.

I believe thats the mandatory ones (providing its flu season) ?

Does anyone know where they can be done cheaper, and if through NHS how to go about getting them, will they give me MMR + Td if i just ask for it, i assume they need a good reason, not sure if for a visa would be enough ?

I just got my tetanus, diphtheria and polio shot today for free at my GP. Nurse was very kind and also recommended I get a meningitis ACWY vaccine (not required for visa I don't think) as I didn't get one before when I was back at university so I got that too. All for free :) I'm not getting the flu shot because I'm planning on booking my medical sometime in April.

It was a good enough reason for my GP. I said it was for visa/immigration purposes. Some GP's may charge you though.

Oh, also, you only need two doses of MMR vaccine in your life so if you already had two, you don't need another booster. I had both of mine when I was a child.

You don't need your complete medical records for Knightsbridge just the summary.

And printing off your patient summary care yourself is fine.

There's no option for me to export a summary on patient access. I can tick off what sections I want exported e.g allergies, problems, medications, test results...etc. So I can't get it not to include really old info. It's 10 pages though and Knightsbridge say they accept up to 10 pages.

That sounds about right even though I can't see how being a locum has any bearing on anything. Paying for a medical letter is usually standard practice and will vary from surgery to surgery. I paid £15 for mine.

    When is your medical?

Okay, fair enough. I thought you got it for free. I haven't booked my medical yet. I'm planning on getting my documents sorted and my shots done before I book it. Are they busy right now? How soon did you get your medical booked? When you phoned, did they book you in for that month or much later?

I had my medical yesterday at Knightsbridge’s and my experience echos the positive accounts shared by other users. It’s nowhere near invasive as one would imagine and the people working there really are lovely. One thing that really made the experience an easy one (other than turning up with everything they asked for) was the medical letter I acquired from my GP regarding my long history of depression and agoraphobia. The physician conducting the medical assessment remarked that the letter was excellent and provided all the necessary information. The only question I was asked was if I had received counselling to which my answer was no, I wasn’t questioned any further.

If you need a medical letter from your GP especially from one that doesn’t know you (as was the case with me) consider providing them with this outline and a note explaining your history in your own words and how you currently feel. It might provide some helpful insight and gives them something to refer to once you have left.

I just went to see my GP to request for a letter regarding my past depression and anxiety and he said he can't write one for me as (in his own words) he is a locum doctor and as the letter is for immigration purposes (I said I needed it for my medical exam for the k1 visa) that I'd have to pay for it privately. He said he would get someone to call me and organise it but that I would have to pay for the letter where they would assess me. I don't understand how everyone is getting these letters from their GPs! :(

  16. Is my exported PDF medical record from my Patient Access account enough for the Knightsbridge 'summary care record' requirement? It is 10 pages long and outlines current problems, past significant problems (none for me), past minor problems which goes back to 2003, medications (acute) and then my test results from 2013 to 2019.

I went to my GP and asked for my summary care record only to be told I can access and print it myself from Patient Access. Is this good enough for Knightsbridge?

    Thanks.

As long as it takes. After 60 days you can submit a case inquiry.

The length generally depends on the cause of the RFE. "Simple" RFEs (missing checkbox, missing letter of intent, etc.) generally take days to a couple weeks IMO. More complex ones (i.er. if verification of documents needs to be done) can take weeks or months.

It was a simple RFE. Missing letter of intent. I wrote it and signed by ink.
