Oh, ok. Thanks for your answer. Then we are in the same boat. Only we progressed through CR-1 Consular processing all the way to the end (interview was in December 2019, but they put him on Admin. processing due to a missing document, it was finished in March 2020 and the Embassy emailed my husband asking for his passport to put visa in it, but by then corona arrived and my husband was stuck in the US). My husband arrived on ESTA in February to visit me for 3 weeks. His returned flight was cancelled in March. We re-booked for a later date. That flight was also cancelled. France went on quarantine and the Embassy in Paris closed. We applied for Satisfactory Departure to prolong his ESTA, and got rejected. So finally (after debating it for several weeks) we were forced to take the AOS route. The AOS package was mailed on 4/24, received in Chicago on 4/28, and since then no news. My husband's ESTA expired on 5/10, and we are a bit nervous....

I was almost in your exact same shoes.  Husband came over on an ESTA and then corona happened, so we decided to do AOS.  UPS said our package was delivered on 4/7.  His ESTA expired on 4/8.  We didn't hear from USCIS until 4/30, so we were VERY nervous for those 3.5 weeks.  My anxiety had me worried ICE would show up at our front door 😂. I was so relieved when we finally heard back. The NOA said that our petition was indeed received on 4/7 (just took them 3.5 weeks for them to notify us!), so I don't think he actually accumulated any overstay since it says right on the receipt notice that they received the AOS one day before his ESTA expired😅.  Anyway--long story short--if yours is like ours, I think you should be fine.

  2. My husband and I got our I-130 approved in Oct. 2019 and our case was sent to NVC in Nov. 2019  My husband came to visit me in the USA a couple months ago and then the whole coronavirus stuff happened, so we decided to do AOS instead.  It was my assumption that NVC would send our case to USCIS upon filing the AOS.  However, today we got notifications that we are documentarily qualified at NVC, so I called USCIS and talked to a Tier 2 Officer that says that we need to fill out an I-824 to get our I-130 sent back to USCIS.  I noticed there is a $465 filing fee to file the I-824!!  Has anyone else had this experience??

Question for all that have filed already? How did you assemble the package? There are mix opinions out there.

    1. Did you guys put the stick note? If yes did you use regular sticky note at the bottom or side?

    2. Did you hole punch the top with two holes?

    3. Did you pack each form, I485, I130, I765, I131 individually in a different brown envelope or all together. Thanks.

Only used paperclips for attaching the check and passport photos.  Had nothing else since all of my office supplies are at work and now I'm working from home.  I've heard they scan everything at the lockbox so it may just be more work for USCIS to un-attach a bunch of paper clips.

  4. Also, I've called USICS two times and plan to call back again tomorrow if there's still nothing.  The second time they gave the email address for the Chicago Lockbox Support.  I emailed them on Monday and still nothing.  In case any of you want the email address, here it is:  lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov

The USCIS customer service rep said to include in the email:  my name and DOB, spouses name and DOB, date sent to lockbox, and mailing address.

I've seen a few people in the March AOS forum who have still not received anything either.  Hoping they're just moving really slow.

We finally heard this morning (via a call to USCIS support) that our AOS package to the Chicago Lockbox had been accepted, and that NOAs had been sent out yesterday.  We received no text messages (and the money is still in our account, although I imagine that it’ll be taken out tonight).

They received it on March 24, just to give some solace or context here.  Took 4 weeks to the day from receipt to NOAs being sent out.

This makes me feel better.  Maybe they're moving slower due to the pandemic.

  6. We're in the same boat right now too.  Our petition was sent on 4/2 and delivered to the lockbox on 4/7 and it has been CRICKETS.  I've called USCIS twice.  The first time they told me to wait until 4/17 to see if I received anything.  Nothing.  I called again on 4/20 and they gave me the email of the Chicago lockbox support, so I emailed on the same day and still nothing.  They haven't taken the funds out of my account nor have we received any e-Notifications.  I feel so helpless!

  7. My husband did his bachelor's and master's programs in English-speaking countries (USA and Australia), so I wrote that under the certification question.  We provided transcripts and diplomas as proof of education anyway, so I'm hoping that'll cover it.  Other than that, he took the TOEFL ~10 years ago just after high school as apart of the admission requirements to his US university, but we didn't even try to dig that up.  A 10 year old TOEFL score is no way an accurate representation of his English proficiency since he has since earned two degrees in English and had 10 years to improve his English skills.

Gotcha, I asked because I read the following:

If you are filing Form I-944 between January 1 and April 15 of any year, and you and/or your household members have
not yet filed the current year’s federal income tax return, submit IRS transcripts for the most recent tax year. At the time
of interview on your application, an officer may request the tax return transcripts for the current tax year. Submit any tax
transcripts for any income taxes that you or your household members filed with any foreign government if you or your
household members were residing outside of the United States during any time within the most recent tax year and you
were not required to file a federal individual income tax return with the United States government.

Well guess I missed that part!  Ugh...sounds like we should.  Now, have to track that down.

  9. I had the same question.  I found this in the i-485 instructions:

"You are NOT required to submit Form I-693 at the time you file your adjustment application, but may do so if you wish. Because of the time-limited validity of Form I-693, you may choose to submit your Form I-693 after you file your Form I-485. You may also submit Form I-693 in person at an interview in a USCIS field office, if an interview is required. By waiting to submit Form I-693, you may avoid having to repeat the immigration medical examination."
