So I worked on the N-400 application but a few things are still unclear to me and I hope you guys can help:

Do I include the fingerprints or biometrics with the application package (when sending if off the first time) or (2) do I have to wait for them to receive it and then react?

I am really struggling with all the admin.

And what did you write in your cover letter? And how did you organize the content? Did you use paper clips?

I sent my fingerprints envelope with my first package! Its only if you are outside of US, like I am Germany right now. Even my first package was returned because of some mistakes in application, they unsealed the fingerprints envelope, I still putted that envelope back and sent it that way. Fingerprints were still ok, and in month or little bit more I got a notification that my fingerprints were accepted.

    Hello all

so i resent fingerprints, digitally done this time. They said they didn’t receive the first ones at the facility that is responsible for my case now. Which is in Missouri. Now I saw online that they rescheduled me for a bio interview (which basically means -when filing overseas- that something else was missing). We assume it’s the pictures that were with the first fingerprints. I guess they didn’t make it to Missouri either. I’ll have to wait for the letter to come to see what it really is. So far the case is moving quickly, its just unfortunate that not everything made it to where it needs to be. But we’re hoping the rest goes quickly too.

Wish everything goes smooth! Finger crossed)))

We are planning to apply this year via Germany as well. Quick question, though... I assumed that all mailed applications are being processed through Chicago? Why do you both have Albuquerque and Seattle? We lived in San Diego before - does that mean San Diego is our point of contact? Or is it a random decision taken by Chicago based on how much work each field office has currently on their desk? San Diego is notoriously busy being right at the border to Mexico.

And hashtag me - thank you for giving us updates. It helps a lot!

Fairfax office is familiar with such cases the most, and I know they can call you to schedule the interview date, and you can choose, they make same day ceremonies also. I chose Seattle, because I lived there and I’d rather stay with friends. You just have to put it in your application, I think its on the first page somewhere, and also I wrote cover letter, where I asked for Seattle location. Seattle is also busy, average processing time is 18 month now, and its still showes estimation of my case is Dec 2019, but they already called me for the interview, which I’m aslo suprised with.

And, yeah, everything related with military you send to Chicago first.

So I got the confirmation letter today and when I pull up the case online, it says they sent me a letter for my biometrics appointment.

But i already included photographs and fingerprints which were taken on a military base in Germany, where I live and I included everything in the package I sent.. I have not gotten the letter yet but I’m wondering why they want me to do them again and where that appointment would be since im outside of the US.. *confusing*

Hi! How is your case? I only got a message, that my fingerprints were done, and no actions were needed. Same as you, it was taken at the base in Germany, sealed in envelope. I’ll tell you more, first time uscis returned my package, I missed one page in application, and fingerprints envelope was open , I didn’t do fingerprints one more time, just sent it as it was. And they were fine with that. So maybe you had to write them a message that you had already sent them everything.

And last week I got notification that my interview was scheduled. So everything is quite fast, even as I chose Seattle.

Ok thank you. I didn’t have the information before. I will get it ready in case they let me submit that before or at the interview. Thank you! That’s very helpful

Hey! I filed also under 319b being here in Germany. They received my docs on Oct 23, and yesterday I got status changed, that they review my biometrics. Oh, by the way I didnt sent a statement, but thankfully to Lenchick I'll deffinetely prepare it.

Did you choose Fairfax VA office for interview? I chose Seattle, bc I used to live there and I'd rather spend time there, but now I think it'll slow down my process.

I apologize for not updated the post earlier.  My wife had her interview in Alabama and it took them a little while to figure out how to proceed with our case because the supervisor thought 319(b) was only for military but they were able to verify everything and she in now a US citizen.  It was overall a nice experience.  Actually happy we ended up at the Alabama center.

Hey! Great to hear that your wife is a citizen now. I also applied under 319b in October. Could you tell please, how long did you wait for the interview? How prior did you receive the notice about interview? Was it accurate  the estimate waiting time, that showed in your uscis account? Was it the same day ceremony?  I have so many questions))) I filed overseas, but I need to fly back to states for my interview, so I appreciate every shared experience here. Because its drives me crazy))) Thanks!!

Apparently my remaining estimating wait time is 1-2 months. I naturalized 2 months ago. So extremely inaccurate. They tend to give the maximum possible wait times because past that, you are allowed to inquire about your case and escalate through other means. I did my interview about 8 months after my initial application. After my interview, I heard absolutely nothing from USCIS except their auto-generated emails for at least 7 months.

There was around 5 weeks between the interview notice and the interview. This seems to be the typical amount of time.

    Never accurate.

i filed N-400 online in April 2018. Did oath August. Predicted  wait time was until April 2019.

Hey! That’s really fast, guys! As for me, I’m really worrying about time between notice and interview. I have to fly from overseas for interview, and I have to make a lot of arrangements for that, like tickets, childcare, and I even ready for some extra spending for additional tickets, if something goes wrong, so fingers crossed)))

    Thank you for your responses!

  7. Hi everyone! Ok, I know, that now everything goes really slow, then 5 year ago for example, and everything depends on different field offices. But could you share your experience.

1.How accurate was estimated wait time of your case(that showed under your case status)? How sooner or later they called you for interview?

    2. And when they called you for the interview, how much time did you have between this notice and the actual interview?

    Thank you!

I understand what you mean but I am here on government orders. Not a regular visa but a sofa visa the same as the military. If there is a war, the Army evacuates me. I was hoping that would make a difference but maybe not.

Are you DoD civilian?  I think, the best way would be to call USCIS military line and ask if your job qulify to apply for your spouse's citizenship under 319B (expedited naturalization).

  9. You can file from overseas, collect fingerprints at your new base and send it in sealed envelope with all paperwork together. I'm going through this proccess now. BUT you have to fly to states for interview and oath, and apply for passport (if you are file under 319b)

If you have been  LPR for 3 year, you married for 3 years, and your spouse is US citizen no less then 3 years then you can file and go through the consulate here overseas, its 316A, if i'm not mistaking. Anyway, you definitely can apply.

Thanks for sharing. I applied in May 2017 and got a letter  2 weeks ago with an interview  date in August. The current processing time was recently updated and say it is about 15.5 months, so you probably have a few more months to wait for your interview. Good luck!

Hey! So did you offer you same day oath ceremony. If not how many days you had to wait? Thank you!

I know it's too late now, but USCIS is encouraging online applications, not least in order to avoid what happened here.  Were you aware that you could apply online?

Oh, sure it would be easier, but I’m filing from overseas, living on military installation, so I sent my fingerprints in first package in sealed envelope (its requirements in my case), cause I’m not able to come for biometrics. That why, I should file by mail.

PS. Im filing under 319(b), so I still have to come for interview in States. That’s why, I’m not dealing with consular.

  12. Hi everyone! I feel really stupid but here is my situation. I filed for naturalization by mail, then uscis returned my package with rejection note “Missing Page”. I came home, and yeah, here it is , a page number 3 of 20, at my desk.. so I printed new applications, checked  that everything is ok and send it back. After I send it I realized there was attachment page (with addresses I lived during last 5 year, I didnt have enough space in n400), came home, and yes, the attachment page was laying at my desk peacefully .. 🤬😩😩😩

Of course, I requested intercept that package through usps, but it seems that they failed to do that, and I’ve got a message today that my package is delivered. Oh no! If in the first place uscis noticed the mistake right away, cause they scanned the application. But what should I expect now? They will notice missing information as they start review my case, charge credit card etc. Should I call USCIS, or should I wait until they start my case, give me a online account number and try to send it online.. or what, or what? Would they reject it, denied it  with the reason “read the book “Citizenship for Dummies””! ?Tell me your thoughts..

    Thank you!
