Thanks all for the feedback, folks ! I'll hence tell my parents to go ahead and apply. They're old, and they get easily flustered and confused, specially when under the examination of a consular officer. Good to know they won't be under a lot of pressure or being asked 200,00 questions . . . I don't want for either one to get their stress level up because of this.

    Yah, nothing to worry about.

My parents are old too, and doesn't understand English. The American CO at US Embassy Dhaka greeted and very politely interviewed them in Bangla.

All they had to do was say if they wanted to stay in the USA, they'd take a legal path in, since it was available to them.

Agree with you. This is the point one should make.

I am a USC and my parents got their B1/B2 visa last week. It was like a 5 min interview, no issues at all. They didn't even look at any of the different documents they took with them.

I think only time it would be denied if they already have an immigration visa application under processing.

My husband entered the country for the first time Friday evening. The officer said he didn’t have my new address listed and was required to send the green card and soc security card to my old address. (I had changed it on everything two years ago and we even had to have a second interview, so my ds-260 was completely updated so don’t know why that happened🙄 )  So now it will all be returned to sender. Anybody have a suggestion on which office to call or what to do to try to head off this debaucle?

Create a MyUSCIS account for your husband and check for what's listed as the address.

My husband visa was refused due to his wife low income. He was asked to summit  new joint sponsor document. I want to know after he summit all the documents how long does he have to wait to get the visa. Thank you

Unfortunately, the correct answer is, 'nobody knows'. Each case is different, and the processing times are also different at different embassies.

    Ours took about 3 months.

What is difference between tax transcripts and tax returns ? lol.

The one we get from irs, are they tax transcripts?

Is there something like tax return transcript too, is it different than tax transcripts?

You are right. Tax transcript is what you get from IRS. You can download them from their website after creating an account. You can also request them by calling them.

Tax return is what you submit to IRS when you file your tax.

'tax return transcript' is the same as tax transcript.

Hi everyone, I paid the green card fee before entered USA with IR1 electronic visa (no package) in September, now I already have been lived in US for 1.5 months, I know it's still early to check green card status which is still showing payment received. But I heard that carrying the electronic visa would cause more delay. Anyone could share any experience?

    Thank you.

We are almost 3 and a half months and no green card yet. We tried to contact USCIS, but they said wait up to 120 days before making any inquiry. So we are not worrying about it much, you should not either.

I think most people just do not fill out timelines, or do not complete them accurately

I would not say Pakis are worse compared to other nationalities on filling out timelines

Very much agree with you, it's not just Pakistanis, it's almost everyone.

The worst part is, most ppl just fill it initially, then at later stage never updates it.

When they get an interview date, most people just disappears! And they come back if they are put into AP!

Fair point. Did the beneficiary on your case have decent travel history? I have a trip coming up and if they were to place me in AP I'd ask for my passport back anyway. Or, I fly out immediately.

And re joint sponsor, were your most recent tax transcripts provided at interview reflective of your income?

The beneficiary lived in Japan for 4 years for graduate studies, that's the only travel history outside of BD.

You are to the point about the tax history - most recent tax didn't reflect the current income. Although I submitted W2, bank statements, and employer verification, they didn't accept that.

I see that you were placed in AP. Can I ask what the reason was?

They would place anyone they like in AP for no specific reason! Keep that in mind.

My initial AP was for they wanted a joint sponsor, although my current income is way above requirement.

We submitted a joint sponsor within a week. But still they kept us in AP for 3 months.

So, don't plan anything just yet. Wait till you get your visa at hand. I might sound pessimistic, but everyone in this forum will confirm, that’s the reality. APs are getting more and more common these days.

    Hello beautiful people!

As the title says, how long did you have to wait post interview till you had your passport in hand? This is for interviews taking place at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

    Thank you.

After the visa is issued, it is only a 3/4 business days. The main question is if the visa is issued. What does the online status shows after the interview is done?

  11. 6 minutes ago, mniceguy16 said:

Once you pay the greencard fee online, you are given another receipt number, you should use that to track your greencard. If you are using your old i130 or nvc case number to check status, you will never have any update with that. In my case I had my visa approved on march 25th, visa in hand April 8, paid fees April 23rd, case was showing "fees received" once I came to the States status changed to "request submitted for review to issue gc" about 4-5 weeks later changed to "request to issue gc approved" after about 3 days status said card printed and later mailed. In all I got my card in 6 weeks. In case you never tracked your card with the new receipt number, check your email and look for the confirmation they sent to you once you paid for his gc the receipt number is in it, in my case it started with an IOE... btw if he entered in mid june I think he is still within the 120 days window requested to wait for the card to be printed.

    Thanks for your informative reply.

My wife entered 5 weeks ago. We are also waiting for the green card.

Do you know how much time the social security card take? Or, should we just visit to the social security office, and request a card?

i mean how many days online vs cashiers check

A cashier's check has to travel by mail, then they need to open that mail, then entered into their system manually. So, there are a few variables in play there, while an online payment is automatically processed.

You do the math. I would add about 4-5 business days extra for the cashier's check.

Is anyone else sitting in Administrative processing and waiting?  We have been waiting more than 7 months through the American consulate in administrative processing. My husband's medical exam expired a month ago. Nothing has been updated in the website for 3 months.  I can't get an answer from anyone at the consulate of Morocco.  My state senator got involved because nothing is happening. If there is any information, please help me.

There are many people stuck in AP just like you are. There isn't really anything to but do just wait.

Nobody knows how much time this will take. And, nobody will be able to give you any answers/info either. This is the sad fact.

Your husband will just have to redo the medicals when the visa is approved.

I am waiting myself for 3 months now.

No, I decided not to submit I-864a even though I gathered all the documents and I was ready to submit them. According to the instruction on USCIS website on multiple places, the I-864a is only needed if the joint sponsor's income is not sufficient then I-864a form can be added to increase the overall income. So, I decided to think logically instead of staying on the super-cautious side and just hope the immigration officer who is reviewing my files knows his stuff.

    any news on your case?

I did the same for my case, only filed i864. However, our case is currently at administrative processing, so not sure if it was adequate or not.

Please keep us informed on how it goes, might help others.

Greetings to everyone.  I would like to know if a joint sponsor must send a letter of the reason in providing sponsorship whether friend or family?

    3 hours ago, payxibka said:

    No

Is this something that depends on the Embassy?

I know that it's not part of i864 for the joint sponsor. But my wife's interview was at the US embassy in Dhaka, and we needed a joint sponsor. The instructions from the embassy specifically mentioned about a letter from the joint sponsor!

I used the same email which I used to cancel and reschedule my interview.

    Surprisingly they were very fast.

Probably because there are not many applicants inthe Netherlands.

Good thing is: It seems consulate has a direct line to the NVC

It's most likely you are at an Embassy in Europe. In the Embassy at Bangladesh they take 2 weeks just to respond to an email. 😞

A 221g is a refusal of the visa under INA 221(g). So yes, the visa was refused.

That said, overcoming the refusal is certainly possible (and is even common). Provide the requested documentation in a satisfactory manner and it should be overcome.

But yes, you are in AP now. All activities post-interview are part of AP.

There's no steps to take at this point, other than occasionally checking in with the consulate if you desire.

If the only issue is the I-864, then they will either issue the visa once that's complete or it will remain refused and they will request another I-864 from a satisfactory sponsor (in addition to the petitioner).

If they refusal the visa for a reason relating to the relationship, only then would they would return the petition to USCIS.

Thank you for taking the time to write this thorough response.

At the interview the CO didn't give any impression that there was any relationship issue. Although our marriage was arranged, it's very common in Bangladesh. I visited her once during this period. I am a somewhat devoted Muslim, has beard, and frequently go to the Mosque. I don't know if that would be the reason for AP. Both my wife and I have PhDs in our respective fields, and I work at a US government office, so I hoped that would work in our favor. I was simply not prepared for this additional delay. The uncertainty of the wait is really killing me.

  19. My wife's visa interview was at the US Embassy in Bangladesh on March 18 (see my timeline for more info)

At the interview, the CO determined that we needed a joint sponsor based on my income of the latest filed tax year of 2017 at that time. I had employment letter, pay stubs and bank statements establishing my current 2018 income, but the CO didn't accept any of that. So, we received a 221g, and the case status on CEAC was showing as 'Refused'. We submitted a joint sponsor's documents within a week.

But since then no update at all.

I sent an email to the Embassy to inquire about it. We received the following response -

    Quote

We have received the documents that you have submitted via our visa collection center. Now, the case is under additional review. We will contact you with updated instruction once the review is complete. This will take time. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Does that mean we are under Administrative Processing now?

The last update date on the CEAC case status site is April 1st, and still showing 'Refused'.

Is there anything we can do at this point, or just wait ?

Amazing how the country can run with such morons at the NVC.

They can land at the moon, but they cant turn around a paper....

The people at USCIS and NVC can tell you the same thing. They can obviously turn around a paper, but it's not their job to correct your mistakes.

They might say that they don't want someone in their country who can't even rotate a page!
