    What question  did they ask? Congratulations!!!

    Thanks! The officer asked how met, how my parents feel about me being in the US, then she asked me yes or no questions from form I-485 and confirmed some of our info and birth dates, we told her a little bit about our wedding day. Then she took and kept some photos of our wedding and asked us for our shared assets (we had our cars insurances with both our names on them, renters insurance and lease agreement) and that was it :)

  2. My husband and I had our interview yesterday at the San Antonio field office. It lasted less than 15 minutes and it was pretty nice, we have been approved! Funnily enough my EAD was approved two days before the interview. Check out my timeline for more detail and I hope it helps. This thread/forum has helped a lot through all the stressful waiting, thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and experiences on here!

  3. Hello everyone! I'm a May 2019 AOS filer too and, as many others over here, I've been waiting 69 days and did not receive any biometrics appointment letter. On June 28 (a little over a month after USCIS received our AOS papers) I called USCIS explaining my concern about not getting the appointment letter and the only thing they said they could do was submitting a service request, so they did that for me. Of course other 30 days had almost passed and I did not receive an answer so I decided to call again July 25. The guy over the phone said that nothing had been done after my service request (I think he meant that nobody has even looked at it) but he also explained that the reason why I am not receiving the appointment for biometrics could be that USCIS could use some of my old biometrics (I guess the ones they have on record from the consulate or maybe the POE?). So I'm just hoping that he's right but it's definitely super frustrating not knowing if the case is moving forward or not. I thought I'd share this for the ones of you that are in the same situation as me.

  4. Hi! Just a couple of days ago I sent my AOS papers to the Lockbox in Chicago, I followed the instructions on how to write the check and I think I wrote everything right on it apart from a little mistake, probably. I have no experience with writing checks whatsoever and in the part of the amount that is written in words I forgot to write "00/100" and just wrote the $1225 amount. Will USCIS accept the check anyway, since the number amount is right? Is it okay if I didn't write my A# anywhere on the check? (I just assumed that because it is in my name (the applicant) and it's sent attached to all the papers in my name and with my A number that is shouldn't be a problem). Did something similar happen to anyone here?

  5. Hi! Apologies in advance if something like this has been asked/posted before. I saw a lot of posts on VJ that talk about changing names on AOS papers after getting married on a K1 but I can't find anything specific about if a person wants to keep their maiden name and add their husband/wife's name to their last name separated by an hyphen. So here's my questions about this:

    1. If I want to keep my last name and also add my husband's last name to it does this make it easier for me to keep my old passport instead of asking for a new one with my new name?
    2. Does keeping my last name mean that (even if I add my husband's one to it) I don't have to change my Social Security Card?

    Did anyone have a similar experience with this? Is it easier to just keep your maiden name?

    This whole process requires filing so many papers as you all know and I would just like to avoid also having to change my name on all my Italian ID's if possible!

    Thanks!

  6. @Zouie they only want to know the employment history for the last 5 years, if you didn't write all of that just mail them the info of those jobs you had up until 5 years ago and that should be fine :) I'm not really sure how much that matters to them but it would be more for your peace of mind than anything else. If you omitted that part on your DS 160 you can always start a new one with all the correct info from what I read on here. Are you almost at the interview stage or still waiting from USCIS?

  7. @Zouie hi! My fiancé and I wrote down the missed parts and sent them to USCIS. We never got an RFE and never got asked about them at the interview so you'll be fine! If you want to send that missing stuff to USCIS for your own peace of mind that's totally ok. I don't know if us sending the missing information helped with the approval without RFE or if that would have happened anyway, but we sent the missing parts just in case!

  8. @Greenbaum we'll definitely send you the copy as soon as we receive it! :)  I only know from other posts from applicants from Italy that P3 is a zip file that the consulate in Naples emails the petitioner. The consulate got our case on December 28, do you think we should send an email requesting P3 or just wait until they email it to us? (I'm guessing that because of the holidays it's taking them a little more than usual to send it) Thanks for the useful links!

  9. Hi everyone! Does updating both petitioner and fiancé's email address at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html work? Is it just as fast as calling NVC to know if they received the case/assigned the number/sent it to the embassy? Do we still need to call or just wait for the email from them?

    Apologies if somebody already asked a similar question. Just wondering if calling is still the best way to get updates. I usually prefer emails 😂

    Hmm... I received a different one. Here's what I got:

    Type of service requested:
     -- Typographical Error

    The status of this service request is:

    On 05/27/2018, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your FORM I-129F to notify us about an informational or typographical error on your petition. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

    We have corrected the information in the file with the information you provided during this contact.

    Your form I-129F is within current processing times. Please see Web site at www.uscis.gov for current California Service Center (CSC) processing times. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do

    We hope this information is helpful to you.

    Thanks! Yeah this is so strange because I definitely explained that it was a correction that I needed to be made to our petition. I didn't say anything about any notice ugh. But anyway I sent an email to the CSC follow-up letting them know that the response I received for my enquiry was wrong. All the corrections that I listed in the typographic error form are clearly things for our petition cause I wrote the page, part and item numbers. So hopefully they'll just realize it themselves and do what they have to do.

  11. My fiancé, the US citizen, had a driving under the influence of alcohol by minor 9 years ago when he was 20 years old. He was released and paid a fine on the same night. We provided all the info requested on I-129f about the arrest, dates, fine. We also called the court and sheriff department of the place where it happened in Texas but they both said that they don't do certified copies and that the arrest record that is on the court website would be enough (we printed that and sent it with the form). Is this going to be okay for USCIS or will they still want that certified court copy of the arrest even though the court and sheriff department said they don't do that?

    Also, I don't see anything mentioning the back of the birth ceritifcate in the most updated official instructions for the I-129F. Have you read the instructions for the most current I-129F?

    This is what it states in the instructions for that form:

    "3. Evidence of U.S. citizenship which may include any of the following:

    A. A copy of your birth certificate issued by a U.S. civil authority;

    B. A copy of your original Certificate of Naturalization;

    C. A copy of your original Certificate of Citizenship;

    D. A copy of your Form FS-240, Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States;

    E. A copy of your valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card issued with a validity period of at least five years; or

    F. A statement executed by a U.S. consular officer certifying that you are a U.S. citizen and the bearer of a currently valid U.S. passport."

    Yes I did! That's why I was confused when reading posts on here from one year ago saying that the birth certificate needed a copy of both front and back. Just wanted a confirmation that this wasn't necessary. Thanks for your help!

  13. I could only find older posts about this and I'm a little confused: in those posts everybody says that the instructions for form I-129f say that USCIS needs a copy of front and back of a birth certificate. I checked the most recent instructions but they don't say anything about this. My fiancé has a Texas birth certificate and all the stamps and watermarks are on the front of the BC and the back is completely blank and we did send just the front. It just seemed useless to take a copy of a page that is completely blank. Is this ok or did everyone send front and back even if the back was blank? Do birth certificates in other states of the US have a back?

    Hi! Well, I know you didn't ask *me* but here's my situation:

    My fiancé and I made the same mistake as the OP - we left out some addresses and empoyment history.

    What we did was: on the new website, we requested a correction of typographical error (we had to split the correction in 2 requests since there was a limit of 500 characters - and we had to wait about a month in between the requests because you can't request 2 corrections at the same time). We also sent the supplement page with the omitted info to the address on the noa1 letter, together with a cover letter (containing names, receipt number, date of birth) explaining what happened.

    We received a response to each of the 2 requests of typographical error about 3 weeks after each request. The first response was an e-mail saying "We have corrected the information in the file with the information you provided during this contact". The second response came as a letter in the mail, which said "We will forward the provided information to the record for the reviewing officer's consideration".

    We received our approval on October 8th, after 178 days of noa1. No RFEs. Maybe we were lucky and the officer working on our case was in a good mood... but anyway, it worked for us!

    Oh thank you so much for your answer! This makes me feel so much better about what we left out of our form and clarifies how this whole thing works, we forgot to write the "date from" a physical address and a previous job my fiancé had. I guess I'll do what you guys did!

    For the supplement page did you use a copy of page 2 from I-129f or did you just use a blank sheet of paper? Did you send any document as proof of address and employment or just the cover letter and supplement page?

    Congratulations on the approval! :)

  15. @FernandLevi did they eventually consider your supplement letter and you didn't get any RFE right?

    With what you had omitted in your form did you send any other document?

    I still have a few months to wait on my I-129F reply and I'm about to send a similar letter to add something I noticed to have omitted in the form and just wanted to see if it is actually considered when they're reviewing it.

  16. Is this true? I was reading another post on here where a user was saying that if you realize that you forgot to include a piece of information on the I-129F you can mail a letter to the USCIS ( to the address that you can find in the lower left corner of the NOA1) stating that you omitted the part, item and page and Information and provide wac#, DOB, names, sign and date.

    Is it true that this can be done to avoid a possible RFE

    Did anyone do this and does it work?

  17. 16 minutes ago, Ben&Zian said:

    Possibly, mostly on the job portion; but, not necessarily either.

    Since the living location was put as let's say "October 2012/2013" but no "present date" or anything but the mailing address is the same on the main information section, they probably get it... for the work portion, they may ask but they may not, hard to say really. Kind of have to wait.

    Yeah I figured it's kind of hard to tell because we didn't completely omit information but we also don't know how important it is to them to know the entire 5 years work history. Thank you!
