  1. Hello,

Not sure if anyone has any ideas.  I filed my Stepsons AOS (485,765,131) over a month ago.  I haven't received a 797, and the DHS has not cashed the check I sent.  I call USCIS and they basically say they can't find anything in their system, or they are having computer problems, or call back tomorrow, or they hang up on me.

A little frustrated to say the least.  I have a copy of the receipt from mailing the package, and I have delivery confirmation.  I'm not allowed to call Chicago and when I ask the USCIS Agent if they will contact Chicago, they tell me that's not their policy.  So basically, forced to call every day and ask the same question.  Oh, and when I ask if I can speak to someone in Level 2 at USCIS, I'm told "they're busy".

Any ideas how to get them to respond?  I think asking if you have it and are working on it is a reasonable request.

  2. Can anyone help us understand the process to enter the American workforce as a nurse, specifically dental surgery. My wife has 15 years of experience in the Ukraine and has a university degree. I’ve called local Indiana universities who won’t help because we are not students, I’ve called the CGFNS service but basically they are just taking your money and then handing information to the state board of health. I’ve been to the state board of health site but they do not tell foreign citizens what they need to do.

  3. hey all, not sure which community / forum to post this to.  My fiance's son (18) wants to come to the US to work and be able to visit his mom, I'm not sure which visa to file or what process to follow. He is listed as her son on the original I-129F.  She entered the US on 3/10/19 and we will be married in a few weeks.  Do I start a DS-160 for him or a K-2?  Not sure how to proceed.  The only rule I was able to find is that for a K-2 he must be under 21 and unmarried and listed on the I-129F,  he was given an A-number.  Any help on what form to file and timelines, etc would be appreciated.

  4. Good grief - if I thought my thread would create a platform for negativity and complaints I wouldn't have posted. But I guess my venting opened the door.  This is supposed to be a place to collaborate and knowledge share.  Thanks to those who explained the rational behind the CO's duties, I appreciate that. I'm un-following now.

  5. Thanks for the replies.  My frustration is presuming you are criminal and have ill intent to circumvent the law.  It's sad that others who break the law ruin it for those that are upstanding individuals.  It's more sad that when you prove you are willing to follow the law and prove you've already supplied every document asked for and paid the money and went through the effort to do everything the correct way - they still presume you to be a criminal.

  6. I have to admit I'm just plain angry right now.  My fiance and I have submitted a K-1 back in July.  We like many of you now wait for months on end for any kind of notification that we can start our lives together.  While waiting we decided we would submit a B-2 in Kiev so she could come for the holidays to visit me in the US.  She just had her appointment.  It didn't last very long at all.  As soon as they found out we had K-1 in progress, they just told her to "wait for the K-1".  Are you serious!  How soulless and heartless.  We follow the process for the K-1 (who knows if it will actually go through - no one even looks at it for months!).  We follow the process for a B-2.  There is NO reason whatsoever to deny her the tourist visa.  And to just tell you to wait.  Frankly, I'm pissed.  That's unacceptable.  With dismissals like this, one can begin to see why there is such an immigration problem.

  7. Ok let me try this again, can someone tell me what packet 3 and 4 are and how it relates to the timeline that I submitted:

I-129F filed and processed in California USCIS office

I-129F sent to NVC in New Hampshire

NVC sends Visa packet??? to Kiev US Embassy

Kiev US Embassy processes Visa and contacts beneficiary to schedule appointmet

Beneficiary schedules appointment for K-1 Visa Exit Interview in Kiev US Embassy

  8. What is all the talk about Packet 1, Packet 2, Packet 3 and Packet 4.  I can find no reference anywhere to what these are.  We filed an I-129F in July and as far as I know the process is:

I-129F filed and processed in California USCIS office

I-129F sent to NVC in New Hampshire

NVC sends Visa packet??? to Kiev US Embassy

Kiev US Embassy processes Visa and contacts beneficiary to schedule appointmet

Beneficiary schedules appointment for K-1 Visa Exit Interview in Kiev US Embassy

    Am I missing something?
