Ask for a supervisor, or go to a different SSA office. Bring a print-out of this SSA policy page -- https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211025
If you encounter another misinformed SSA employee who doesn't know what a temporary I-551 is, highlight the part on the policy page that says --
Aliens who submit evidence of LPR status are issued unrestricted SSN cards (without a legend) provided the evidence requirements for an SSN are met.

permanent residents do not have I-94 issued. It is only for non-immigrant visa holders so that person was misinformed… did they refuse to process your SSN application?
Absolutely. You are a lawful permanent resident (LPR), you can work and travel with the I-551 stamp (which is the same as the plastic GC).
Yes they refuse to process my ssn application

Absolutely. You are a lawful permanent resident (LPR), you can work and travel with the I-551 stamp (which is the same as the plastic GC).
So i can start work even without my social security number !?

I got to the US the 26th August with my IR1 visa and still waiting for my Social Security card to the mailbox , I went to the office this morning and the agent told me that im ineligible to work and need to ask the consular about the i94 form.
So i fill out the social security form online and will come back to them.
Can someone would clarify to me the situation?
Can I apply for a jobs with my pport and the I551 stamp on it ?

Congratulations and Welcome to the USA.
You should not have any issues. Just make sure you hand them the sealed envelope with your passport.
No envelope was given at the Embassy but online !!

A joint sponsor is essentially there to assist your sponsor with demonstrating to the government that you won't become a ward of the state/country. They are not there to be like a parent/child relationship to cover your costs and provide you an allowance. They should only be called upon as a last resort.
It's your responsibility to get a job and pay your bills. If you don't pay that bill, it will go to collections and potentially damage your credit when you don't have any, making it even more challenging for you to be successful in the US.
Find a way - insurance, cash payment, payment plan - to pay your medical bill. You're an adult. You need to be independent.
Im ill i cant have job untill i get healed 🙂

Bills or debts incurred is your and and only yours responsibility
You can tell the hospital you don't have any money and they will sometimes waive the bill, you can always negotiate with them. Most hospital prey off medical insurance and inflate the bill & services upto 10 times, what a cash payer would pay. It's a pretty legitimate scam in the USA, and legal.
Could i dont pay them , since i have no job yet ?

Bottomline is that you have to pay the doctor/hospital bills yourself or have your insurance cover the fees. Your joint sponsor is not liable.
Thanks

Of course not, that is for government sponsored debts like food stamps, etc.
That is a private debt, just like between you and friend, or between you and cellphone company.
Yes but this a goverment hospital bills , im very confused

Ask for "Cash Price" or "Self Pay" I have found many times the price from a doctor/hospital visit is much cheaper vs what insurance pays, crazy as that sounds.
Thanks for this but what about my joint sponsor does she needs to pay the bills or just me ?

Your joint sponsor isn't liable for bills you incur just because you cannot pay them.
If you can't afford to pay the full medical bill, request a payment plan.
Do you not have health insurance?
So no problem can be for my joint sponsor , the one who should pay is me the lawful resident ,

Not if u and joint sponsor satisify the requirements set out on the I 864 instructions (read them carefully)
and if the joint sponsor understands the full meaning of the I 864 and is willing to file it and supply u the necessary tax documents
it is a lot to ask of someone as it is legally binding for 10 years or until the person is naturalized
(10 years or 40 quarters of SS credits)
She is aware about everything and she gave us all the required documents

- Be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Reside in the United States or a U.S. territory but not in either spouse's household.
Thanks for your reply , so the CO will not ask to provide another joint sponsor ?

Hello
Could we use a joint sponsor who lives in California and my wife lives in North Carolina
( We already have an signed letter says that the joint sponsor is a friend of my wife and she is ready to sponsor me )?

Nobody answered because nobody who knew the answer saw your question yet. Just remove the current joint sponsor's documents and replace them with those of the new sponsor.

Hey Everyone,
My interview for IR1 at Islamabad embassy is scheduled for May 15th. My question is, i am trying to change my joint sponsor as original joint sponsor doesn't work anymore and didn't file their taxes for 2021. I have someone else that is willing to become the JS. Someone in Facebook Groups suggested me that i submit an application of withdrawal of Joint Sponsor in additional documents and add new person's details with supporting documents. How do i change the joint sponsor and make sure that everything goes smooth during the interview process to avoid any sort of issue and delays.
Thanks so much guys!
Same situatuon
