Can I be the conductor for the music in this Muslim Olympics? Or no?
Yes! Opening ceremonies have commenced. First event: "I sayeth ctrl+v!" (aka copy and paste the longest and most esoteric evidence for your point possible!)
Because, despite all their Muslimy Muslimness, it still sounds straight up weird, for all kinds of reasons.

Yeah, I meant when he gets the visa.
Cool.

No one asked you describe how you met this guy. People want to know if you met in person to try to gauge the seriousness of the relationship. I'm not sure why you feel this bit of info to be super private and personal. Also, most of us have Muslim husbands so we get the whole aversion to dating thing. Also, many members are American converts so it's not anything strange around here. What is strange is a man you're supposedly engaged to just up and stops answering his phone and stops coming online. Even if he were having issues with his ex wife's relatives he could still find a moment to let you know he was ok. Or he could have a family member let you know somehow. I'm sure someone can speak a little english.
You mean I am not a special snowflake with super intuitive powers and comprehension?
Yes to the above. The figuring out if the relationship is serious is what will influence people's answers. People who have never met are more likely to part ways without consulting the other person. People who have met but aren't married are more likely to do that than people who have met and are married...
(ETA although hopefully that is not the scenario)

Good luck! I forgot if he will arrange a leave of absence from his job?
-
He did pay the "dowry" for lack of the correct word, lol. Oh no wait, I see Mahr here, ok.
Dowry is the money/objects a woman or her family are required to give to the man in order to marry. DOWER is the money a man gives to a woman or her family for his future wife's support in the event of his demise. Dower is the closest to mahr in English.
As a special snowflake, I am somehow able to understand this all and did OK without the translation for non-Muslims. At any rate, hopefully you can get a hold of him. People can sometimes drop off the radar during visits for a bit, but several days would be excessive if not planned in advance and the party was a considerate human being.

Thought this was an interesting article about initiative in Morocco to stop girls ages 3-10 from people made by their parents to cover.
I'm not able to discern if they're referring to hijab or total veiling. (could be clear as day, and it's just my Monday reading again!)
http://www.moroccotomorrow.org/campaign-against-veiling-young-girls-launched-in-morocco/
I haven't read it yet, but I remember seeing this really little girl... like 2 or so, covered in khimar in Jordan. She clearly hated it-- she was trying to pull it off-- and her father would smack her behind/spank her every time she tried. She was crying and he kept spanking her and shouting at her telling her it was haram to take it off. :/

I went to the gym before work. I am at the 15 pound mark, which makes me feel good but it's time to step it up!
Congrats!

I watched episodes from the first season of Frasier while I folded laundry. Dorky. And worked on trying to teach my daughter to steer on her bicycle. She's a good pedaler, but not so controlled with getting to where she wants to go. She ends up someplace else entirely.
Awww, she'll get it! I had a problem learning to brake. I would just hit things.

You mean you SHOULDN'T hold an explosive in your hand and light it on fire? My Gd, the mysteries of the universe never cease! I at least get that day off. Although, it is my normal day off, so I have a feeling I won't get any time for it. boo.
I haven't worked out in like 4 days. I had a few days of pain and whatnot, so I didn't Today was just sheer laziness. Tomorrow we begin again!
I made some jam today. Thursday and Friday I will probably make some more lol.
I watched Fairly Legal today. I am soo rooting for Ben and Kate.

Aww! I'm sorry about your soil of death :-|
I hope you have happy plants in there soon.
Bush squash, marigolds, and zinnias do sound lovely.
One can hope!
-
The lollipops I've seen are so pretty. I hope mine are too.
That light yellow is so pretty. I do tend to enjoy such a color variety. Since I had the soil of death in 4 of my 5 window boxes, I am considering dumping them and then replacing the soil and planting some seeds. We have until late november for a growing season.. i could maybe try a few tomatoes. I think they get more sun than I thought they would. I plan on trying a few bush squash. Maybe some marigolds and zinnias. We'll see what I have.

I got some three sisters, and lollipop!
Ooo! exciting!
-
On this lazy, rainy Saturday, I am converting my kids into Inspector Gadget fans. And I planted two more types of tomatoes I was able to talk my husband into buying me.
I went to work for like an hour, but it was so quiet I got to go home early.
Ooo what types?

awwwwwww..........what a simply adorable age. I really miss my kids being little. I have 2 teenage boys. Is she crawling yet? I really really love babies!!!!
Thanks for the well wishes. He was told yesterday by an attorney in Jordan that the chances of AP for men are about 99.9%. The only thing I'm thankful for is that I found VJ long before this stage and read about AP, I had no clue. The most we can do is just hope for the best. I am so looking forward to spending a few weeks in Amman, I really love it there!!!
ooo most people don't have A/C. Does he? That could be rough with a cast (and not eating or drinking all day).

It's Friday!! I'm so thankful for that!
My daughter is cutting her top two front teeth so I've been functioning on roughly 4 hours a night all week.
Awww! Hopefully it passes soon enough!

Really bizarre, right? The sales guy that worked with us on original security system is getting us an estimate for the cameras. Fence is definitely on the top of our list of home improvement items we want! Keep the nonsense fenced out!!
Yup! Lame and audacious! Who does that!?
That's so weird. I have no idea why you would want to hang out on a random patio.

I just made an appointment for him. Now, the other documents that he needs to bring with him, they have to be transulated to English?
Yes.
I am a US citizen and I have a brother who is a Professional Football Player, he plays and lives in Morocco now. He wants to come to America for a visit.
- What is the requirements and other documents he needs to get his Tourist VISA?
Thanks
So you got your citizenship?

I would keep the job. You just went.
Then pray tell, what is the the meaning of "enough". Visas are denied every day all over the world to applicant couples who thought they had done all they could possibly do. This OP's question and many of the answers seem to address not "all that they can possibly do" but "what they might manage to get by with". They are patently NOT the same thing. The biggest question the Consular Officer deals with is the relationship bona fides. They best possible evidence of a bona fide relationship is evidence of time spent together.
"All you can possibly do" is often a bad idea because, for some, this is just not practical. But, let's not blow smoke at people and assure them of what is "enough" when nobody ever knows in advance what is "enough".
Thank Gd you're here to tell all the people who have already gone through Casa how Casa operates.

hi everyone, i am having the same problem with this police clearance in Jordan. I worked there for two years and currently working in Jeddah. I tried to go to Jordan embassy here but they gave me an apllication form in Arabic to accomplish which is not helpingme at all, so I called the GID number in Jordan and asked them about how to obtain the certificate, they just told me go the the Jordan embassy in Jordan and even told me the application form are feally in Arabic and just someone to transalte it. Is tthere anyone who knows how can I email them and get some info in english. For those who had the experienced and was able to successfully do it, hope you can give me details on this one. thanks a lot...
Sorry, my husband just waited in line at the police and got his.

almost.
If I recall correctly, Cyrano had one particular lady in mind before he started the deception - he wasn't just trying to catch the next random fly that blundered into the web. Still, I wonder if it might be where Ahmed got the idea...
It was probably copied in an Egyptian movie. Did I ever tell you about the time that Ammar was watching Sound of Music with me and then informed me that this was really an Egyptian movie? I was like ummmm... no... this is a musical based on the biographies of real people. My German teacher in HS went to school with Von Trapp grandkids. Then he realized the Egyptians just copied it and never credited that. Now he doesn't trust anything LOL.

Where is your sense of romance!? It's so....Shakespearean!
Hmmm, you're right. Maybe we should change our minds on this...

Nice! My worst clumsy time today was when the big pocket of my scrub jacket got caught on the corner of a drawer, knocking down my keyboard, and totally startling my 2 yr old patient. :-/
LOL! Oh no! Well, I think that's alright
LOL awww! I went to the gym with a friend a few years ago and she totally wiped out on the treadmill. I was talking with her then all of a sudden she disappeared. Luckily, she didn't get hurt and we both had a good laugh about it after we assessed the damages.
I have a feeling it looked hilarious
Good morning! I did over an hour on the treadmill yesterday while watching Bones. Since I was watching tv I only burned 400 calories but it's better than sitting on my butt watching tv. I love tv too much.
Anyway, I think I'll be under 120 lbs by my next weigh in which is Monday morning.
Oh, yay! I gained 2 lbs. I'm smaller though, even smaller than last week. So I think I;m gaining muscle weight.

There is always plenty of NOTG in the internet cafes
After I recovered from nearly suffocating from laughter, I am pretty sure I would have to shut down any conversation which included NOTG.
Need help, I am very worried...

Several non-Muslims had posted in this thread to help the OP prior to her comment. So I felt that was dismissive and insulting, especially after they had really tried to help. This isn't an Islamic forum, it's an immigration site. There happen to be a lot of Muslims in MENA here, but it's not an exclusive club. There is a sizable portion of non-Muslims and you're just as likely to be getting help from a non-Muslim as a Muslim.
I am glad IHQ is able to help. Whether or not we ever know the outcome, the important part is that the OP manages to figure out what's going on.
And yes, I agree that this should have been better worked out in the contract, so it doesn't really make much sense. Something is not what it seems. That doesn't mean that 100% surely the guy is wrong somehow, but it does mean that there needs to be closer examination. Better to find out and work these things through prior to the visa. Either it will make the relationship stronger or end something that isn't meant to be.
