And now for something completely different ( at least for me.Nudge nudge , wink wink, say no more).... Yes all at once!! I looked on Friday night and nothing.
On Saturday morning,   saw email from noreply@uscis that they did something?!! ( Must admit I was nervous to go check!) and VOILA!

Summary:  CSC/WAC17293xxxxxx/ July 27 2017 I think i751 submitted.   Waited over 1 yr to hear that they can reuse my on-file fingerprints. Got 1yr infopass stamp as in the morning then received the 18mth Extension letter in the afternoon Aug 17. No RFE. And now, this Oct 26,2018 . Now I wait to receive the actual 10yr Green Card!
ps: shouldn't it be that case approved then card produced?! But I don't care as long as I got it! :-)

Thanks for all for the being there!  For those waiting, your turn soon!

Just a reminder to everyone who has received their new PR card and who has Nexus or Global Entry.....you should update your new expiry date online with the trusted traveler program before you travel.  Otherwise you 'll need to see the CO and won't be able to use the readers and expedite your entry and exit.

I know most people dream of being US citizens,  but I really see the only benefit is that I no longer have to deal with immigration.

I'm probably will at the 5 yr mark. I'm Canadian and know I wont lose my Canadian citizenship,  but it still makes me uneasy to say I will relinquish all other citizenships to become a US citizen

I think it depends on what state you are in. I just renewed my drivers license in August and they made it expire in the same day as my i551 stamp, which is Nov 2019

Folks, think about how huge amounts of paper work is processed in any organization, public or private.
Several hundred I-751 cases are received in Vermont EACH DAY.
These are immediately just stored away.
At some point, a huge stack of files are taken from storage and spread around among several hundred clerks.
In this process the order of the files gets all messed up and files submitted two months later than other files will get put on top of the stack.
Then we have the situation where one worker completes 20 files per day when another worker completes 8 files per day.  They give the fast worker more files, but they are even later filed ones.  So this worker is churning out files that are several months newer than those files being completed by other workers.
Now a cleaning person knocks files off of a desk.  The files are picked. back up in random order with later filed ones going on top of earlier filed ones.
A worker stays out sick for several days or goes on vacation for 2 weeks or so.  As result, the files on his/her desk are automatically several days, weeks or even a month behind others.

So what good does it do here when people are spending inordinate amount of time and having anguish trying to determine why some persons are processed much faster than others???
I count myself as lucky because my wife (she is the one waiting for 10 year green card) doesn’t even ask about what is happening.  She goes on about her daily life without stress.  She knows the card will come at some point and that if she really needs to travel or some such, the stamp in passport will do the trick.

    Hey guys,

Just my 2 cents on how we can make things a bit more streamlined in our replies. Given that a number of us are starting to see approvals while some of us (me included!) have seen no movement, we tend to see a lot of the same questions asked by curious members (E.g. What is your WAC #? Did you file your N-400?). Might I suggest a template for us to include in our replies so we can answer these questions right off the bat? Here's what I came up with:

What do you guys think? If we start using a template we agree upon, I think we can cut down on a lot of the typical follow up post questions. Of course, feel free to tell me and my template to take a hike if you think it's too much

Kasoveli reacted to Zcomuto in renewing drivers license with i551
As your local office is in Cleveland, I assume that you have an Ohio licence. I went through this with my local small-town BMV who were less than helpful when all I have was the (expired) K-1 visa in my passport and no green card. Unfortunately Ohio has no clear provision for using an expired I-551 and an I-797. There is only generic language that provides for it.

You are going to want to point the person there toward a combination of Ohio Administrative Code 4501:1-1-21 and Ohio Revised Code 4507.09.

4501:1-1-21 section E(8) states that "appropriate United States citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) documents that are original and valid" are good for providing valid proof of residency - in the eyes of USCIS, That includes the expired I-551&I-797 combo. They may give you a nonrenewable licence, which will actually be renewable with an unexpired green card, and  4507.09 Section E states that "A nonrenewable license expires on the same date listed on the legal presence documentation". That would pin your new Driver's licence expiry date at Green card expiry +18 months.

As for USCIS policy on 'valid documents', their detailing of what is valid for an I-9 would be the most useful: You can find details on automatic residency/EAD renewable documentation here. Specifically, look for the language "Note that a USCIS-issued Notice on Form I-797C acknowledging receipt of an EAD renewal application presented in combination with an expired EAD is considered an unexpired EAD under List A." and/or "Foreign passport that contains a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 printed notation."

    Hope this helps.
