  1. Hello...

Getting a late start on the AOS, my wife and I married July 27, 2019, and are just now submitting her AOS.

My question deals with finances.  I make well above the amount needed for what is considered my household, about 46,000, except in 2017 where it was under the 27000 mark.  I was told that because of the 2017 amount we might get denied.  I truly don't understand the reason behind that, it was three years ago!

Also, I have a daughter, who has not lived with me in years, and she will be 18 next month, and the Aos papers have her as part of my household, which clearly she is not.  And her, being a third person is what messes us up for 2017.

I am really nervous about this, any one have any thoughts on this?   Should we wait to file when she is 18, what would be the best thing to do in this situation?   Or does 2017 really matter?

    Thank you

  2. Hello...

    Need some advice.

My wife and I were married July 27. She came via k1.

Due to a bit of financial struggles due to wedding etc., we thought to submit her work permit first, then, when we have the fee for AOS submit that.  Was originally wanting to submit both at the same time, and save having to pay additional fees.

Her 90 day visa will expire September 7. Not sure if that will have any bearing on the process considering we are married now.

A supplement question is...concerning having health coverage, does the initial AOS filing require that or does that information come later..?

    Thank you!

  3. Hello...

She has a straight flight to the US.  She will have some cash, but i was unsure of how much more she would need. Was thinking $100 or so as well.  Just don't want her to get stuck at customs because of having not a lot of money.  That is my main concern.

  4. She did the class last week, got her sticker, no problem.  She will fly here June 7.

She told me that she needed 'pocket money' to come to the US. Said it was required from someone at the seminar.

After being there for her interview, purchasing airfare, missing two weeks at both jobs I am pretty strapped right now.

Anyone know how much pocket money she needs..?

I'm really at a loss here...

  5. Thank you everyone for your response.

Update: she was able to get an appointment for May 22.  The July slot was for Clark, but she changed to the Manila office as there are more available slots.

She told me, and not sure where she got this from, that she was required to show airfare.  That confused me because no where in the requirements does it say that.  I even asked rapidvisa and they never heard that either.

Planning to get the airfare, just don't understand why they would request it at that class...

    Any thoughts on that?

  6. She is closer, yes.  I actually found an old thread with info on how she can reschedule.

    She will try it.

It's really my fault, she had the email sent to me, I thought she wanted me to confirm...so frustrated.

    Sorry for venting so much

  7. Did not know she could do it before being approved by the US embassy.

Plus, she is five hours away by bus, it isn't easy for her getting to Manila.

Besides, Us embassy already approved all our documents, just seems a waste of time for them to review them as well.

  8. Just wanted to add that at first I believed this class was a good thing for transitioning, but now I see it as a huge waste of time.  It actually causes those of us who have been waiting for months unneeded stress.

They actually require documents that the US has already approved.  So what if 'they' decide to deny her?  What happens then?

Just another form of corrupt government to abuse people.

    Just my thought.

I really never want to vacation there again.  Find another country to spend money at...

Still very angry, can you tell?  Have to wait two more months!!

  9. Hello, not sure where to place this thread.

I am furious right now with the Philippines visa class.

Her interview was May 9, I was there, approved...

She received her visa packet today (their Wednesday). I just flew home to the US Tuesday.

Now the class that she is required to take has no available slots until July!!!

Needless to say I am absolutely furious.

There is nothing we can do to change this either!!!

We have waited and waited, and now this #######!!

    Anyone having similar issues?

No question here really, just needing to vent my continued frustration with this process.

  10. One week away from her interview in Manila.  Could not download 2018 tax transcript from IRS website.  Went to the IRS office and was told my tax return was in error and they were sending me a letter to fix the problem.

    Freaking out at that point...

I used turbo tax, and maybe that was not the best idea...

    Anyway...

I do have my printed out tax return from turbo tax, although it is worthless at this point, and have copies of my w-2's.

I will explain the situation at the embassy, and praying they will not use that against us.  It really would be crazy to deny us over that when I did file, but need to correct a problem.

    Has anyone had similar issues?

Any words of encouragement about now would be great.

Breaking down at the IRS office was not one of me best days...so stressed now.

  11. Great news, and very much relieved.

After a crazy few days, my fiancee was finally able to pay for her interview, and we are looking at May 9.

Since she lives in the province she had to travel a distance to find a BPI. About an hour away from her home.  In an area she is not familiar with.  But, she did it.

    Praise the LORD!

    We are almost there!!

Mine did something similar after I specifically walked him thru it verbally and with screenshot. He went and enlisted the help of the internet cafe asst, who entirely missed to print the confirmation page.

As above stated, she can go back in with the appl ID # and reprint it.

The page is correct I think.  The bank person told her it was not correct, but did not ask any other person there to verify

  13. Very frustrated and angry right now.

Took my fiancee pretty much two days to figure out the DS160. She finally got her portion done, printed a paper with a barcode, went a long distance to go to the bank to pay for the interview, but actually found out she printed the wrong thing.

I have no idea what she can do to get the actual confirmation barcoded paper printed.

Time is ticking as interview slots are filling up...

    Any suggestions?
