If by drug history, you mean admit to ever consuming an illegal drug, even once, then yes this can make you inadmissible or require additional things like the testing you mentioned. My husband required additional year of testing as he admitted to using cannabis at university years before. He ended up receiving his visa before doing all the testing, he only did one round of testing in addition to his medical. The testing protocol Casablanca had required 4 tests, one a quarter. OP did the doctor ask you if you had ever used drugs? If so, did you answer truthfully?

Having a different name than your spouse will not impact your application. Both my spouse and I kept our names after marriage and it wasn’t not an issue when we applied to AOS. Good luck to yall!

Thanks for your response, we have had an interesting immigration journey for sure. It will be nice when we can apply for naturalisation next year and it will be behind us. It may have been better to deal with the wrong card up front, but better late than never? 🙃 Maybe this part of our journey will also be lessons learned for VJers. 🙊

Hello and happy new year! My husband’s AOS was adjudicated 6 weeks shy of our 2nd year anniversary. We were surprised to see he was granted a 10-year card. I had read on here previously that if you don’t qualify for it, it doesn’t matter if you get it. We decided to wait to deal with the issue by just applying for ROC when his card should expire. His application has already been mailed in with the last page for extra info explaining the incorrectly issued green card. I just had a thought that maybe his card should have been sent in as well, instead of just a copy. But I’m pretty sure this idea is a terrible one as he will need his card. I came here in the hope I could find some posts in the forums about what others have done in this situation. But I’m either terrible at searching or not seeing anything. Can anyone point me in the direction of information about applying for ROC with a 10-year green card? Thank you!

Like Boiler said above it largely depends on the country she’s in. It’s typically not good testing positive for cannabinoids. Worst case she could be inadmissible, best case they look at her medical information and approve her. Because cannabis is federally illegal, it is still generally frowned upon even for medical consumption. In our experience (country Morocco, k1 visa), just admitting to previous use a couple of years prior (no dirty test) landed us about an 8th month or so delay in getting approval. Initially we were told it would be a year long process with 4 drug tests. Ultimately he didn’t have to complete all 4 test and was approved. Morocco is a difficult country for visas due to fraud. We also were not married. So hopefully things go well for you both. Best of luck.

Hello! I'm not sure that anyone can help me as I'm not sure there are people who have been through this situation and my consulate that are still on here. I'm sure there are plenty of people who can pass judgement, but I am really just looking for help not condemnation. My fiance has to undergo drug testing. It's the standard protocol for the area of 4 tests, every 3 months. The problem is my fiance is being told by the receptionist at doc office, that the doctor said he will need a new medical exam because his is expired. She made it seem like he will be required to have a new medical now even though it will expire before he finishes his testing protocol. I am aware he will need to do one again at the end of the process, for the visa. It just seems a lot ridiculous for the doctor to require one now when it cannot be used for the visa because he won't have finished the testing protocol. I'm not sure if there is just confusion with what the doctor told the receptionist. I'm hoping this is the case. Does anyone know if you need to have a valid medical exam throughout the whole drug testing process? It would be nice not to spend the money on that and then have to redo it.
