I landed in the US in 2018 as PR. Married to US citizen. Got the 10 yr Green card by June 2022 (I-751 process has been completed). Location: Philadelphia, PA office. Will be a 5 yr resident of US this year.

I applied for N400 in Oct 2022. I got the interview by end of Dec 2022 and passed it. But it's been 5 months since the interview and have not received any follow ups about the oath ceremony. Is this weird or unusual? how long could this wait go on for?

    Sept 2020: Filed for I-751

    June 2022: 1-751 Approved

    Oct 2022: Filed for N-400.

May 2023: Still Waiting for Oath Ceremony

Finally got the letter for Oath ceremony with name change - it will be on 13 June 2023. 3 weeks away.

    Sept 2020: Filed for I-751.

Correct.  You have to provide evidence regarding the marriage.

We ran into a problem right now. We can't find the original marriage certificate paper we got from India in 2017. We see copies of it, even in my computer. But this original paper is missing. The Indian state government has fully digitized the last 6 yrs or so, and we can get an online version of this marriage certificate from the govt website. That online version says at the bottom of the certificate that this can be used for "official purpose(s)".

My question is are we in trouble? Is just taking this version of the marriage certificate from the website enough and more? (Tho it does mention with a 2022 date, that the paper was generated 2022 but the marriage date is 2017).

    {The original marriage certificate was in a regular paper. Nothing special there. But it had a watermark. But this online generated version has a watermark as well}

  4. So my wife received her green card - I mean the 10 year green card - this year by August or so. Basically her I-751 was approved (without an interview).

Now we decided to apply for the N400 (she's been here for exactly 4 years now). So we are applying using the 3-year rule. Plus we also have a son together (who's born in the US).

My question is what do we have to bring as proof (documents) this time? Does my wife have to go to this N400 interview like it's a I-751 interview?

I heard people say since we're applying under the 3-year rule there's more proof required for this one compared to the 5 year rule?

(And interestingly enough, we applied in October of this year, and my wife got the interview scheduled for end of December. That's FAST)

  5. My wife is planning to apply for the N400 soon. She's been in the US for 3 years and 6 months now and got the 2 year Green card. I'm a US citizen (for 12 years), and she's been married to me for almost 5 years.

So since she's eligible to apply for US citizenship (3 year resident), my question is how do you answer those 5 year questions. the ones that ask "in the past 5 years how many trips have you taken outside US?"

She's mainly been here only 3.5 years, so do you answer it based on the last 3 years? (Btw my wife has not taken any trips out of the US since she got here in Nov 2018).

Need some help guys. I'm a SEPT 2020 filer. we have the MSC Case #. So my spouse got the extension in OCT 2020 and they scheduled for the biometrics in DEC 2020. and after that for many months we didn't get any updates. Nothing from Jan to June. And I just got busy with life and lost track. we just checked again this week.... and it says as of Aug 11 they are set to schedule an interview. My spouse and I know for sure we didn't get any mail related to that. So I guess the interview date has not been scheduled.  Good thing we checked the status now.

I read many ppl saying for MSC cases an in person interview is a standard now. What can we expect at this interview? and could it be many months from now? or sooner? My wife's 18 month extension for now expires in MAY 2022. (And by this Nov- nxt month basically -- my wife spouse will have been in the US for 3 yrs as she landed here in NOV 2018)

Finally got an update on my wife's case status. It says the following below:

My wife was a Sept 2020 filer as her GC was about to expire by Nov 2020. Got  the initial 18 month extension. Then we got another extension till Nov 2022. All this time we were waiting for an interview, but eventually it looks like a new 10 year GC card is on the way? can anyone confirm on this? We never had an interview so far (once in the US).

Me and my wife will be married for 5 years now (this year Aug), and we have a 19 month old toddler who was born in the US.

"New Card Is Being Produced: On June 16, 2022, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC1ABCDEFGHIGHI, and will mail it to the address you gave us."

  7. My case... Well my wife's case... We submitted everything Sept 2020. We got the 18 month extension Oct 2020. And my wife did biometrics DEC 2020. We got the update they are ready to schedule an interview by Aug 2021. And in DEC 2021 we got the 24 month extension letter.

How much more long could this go? Our status is still the same as Aug 2021... Saying they are ready to schedule an interview. (My wife's GC expired Nov 2020)

We have a 14 month old son. So when they eventually schedule an interview, it would be great take our son to the interview as well right?

My wife's has been here in the US for 3 years and 2 months now. Is it good to apply for citizenship now?

I submitted my application on 11th, it was received 14th, but I still havent received  a receipt number or I-797. I called up USCIS and gave the A number and they said no I-751 is in their system. They said it should take 15 days max from the day they receive to generate a receipt number. I submitted a fee waiver, but they said that shouldnt delay things. I am worried if its lost at Lock box. My USPS tracking shows it was delivered to lock box on 14th.

Anyone in similar situation ? Any advises  ?

this is definitely an odd case.

I got my I-797 about 2 weeks and 2 days later ... from the day they received my package.
