Hey everybody!
Just checking in to see if anyone has had their I751 approved. We submitted ours in Nov/21 and received an NOA of fingerprints applied to case back in Jan/22, but since then it's been crickets... We received a 48 month extension for the temp green card, but were curious if we were the only ones waiting... I check the uscis case status page daily, no change..
Hope all is well

We definitely got lucky and beat covid restrictions. Can't wait to file the N400!

Based on USCIS timelines, it seems like we'll be applying for citizenship before receiving removal of conditions. I read that once we apply for citizenship, we will basically have an interview that will cover ROC and Citizenship at the same time. Can anyone confirm this?

Happy Freedom Day almal!
@LuFlolady and @vistawateraz are you planning on applying for retention of SA citizenship?
I always wondered when in the process you're supposed to send in the application... while N400 is pending or before you submit N400 paperwork...
Sorry for the late response. Short answer for us is ... No.

LuFlolady! Hope all is well! We applied for permanent residence last November and will be applying for citizenship in October of 2022. We're celebrating our 3rd anniversary May 4th, what a journey, but worth every single minute!!

Hope all are well! Anyone started to remove conditions yet? I believe we can remove conditions or apply for citizenship if you are married to the same person for 2yrs as oppose to waiting for 90 days prior to the green card expiring yes?
Hey LuFlolady! Hope everything is going well. I was told that we have to apply for ROC within, 90 days before the permanent residence green card expires (the application extends your permanent residence for another year). The agent also said that we can apply for citizenship 1 year later (90 before the 3 year window below).
You may file Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, 90 calendar days before you complete your permanent residence requirement if your eligibility for naturalization is based upon being a:
- Permanent resident for at least 5 years; or
- Permanent resident for at least 3 years if you are married to a US citizen.
From what I understood, even if you haven't received your ROC due to backlogs in the system, you can still file form N-400 for naturalization.

Dan

Good Morning,
My fiancé has an appointment next month in Johannesburg finally
Does anyone know how long after the visa is finally approved and issued she has to fly to America?
The visa is valid for 6 months while she is out of the country. When she lands in the US, you'll need to be married within 90 days.

Congratulations!!! I'm so happy we got all of our stuff done before Covid...

Hi everyone 👋
I hope everyone is doing well.
I have my AOS interview coming up at the end of the month . The interview notice States that you should bring a completed medical form if you haven’t already submitted it. I had my medical done in sa in April 2019. I filed my AOS application August 2019. Am I all good for the interview, or do I have to quickly try and have a medical done again before my AoS Interview?
After reading the instructions on the medical form it states that a k1 medical done overseas is valid so long as the AOS application was filed within a year of it being done .
The answer might be straight forward but I think I’m just nervous because it’s march and the interview is being done close to it being a year since my medical.
please can someone shed some light on this for me.
Thank you !
We were in the same situation, but as long as you already turned it in you should be fine.

I can finally post that our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview and new EAD card is being produced....what a journey it will be 1yr on Friday Feb 14th that my husband was approved for the k1 visa in Joburg.....
Crazy how long this process is... We were lucky and had no RFE's as well as a quick K1 turnaround. Unfortunately, we had to wait for the K1 interview based on Police Clearance and Birth Certificate taking a while to get. The AOS interview was awesome tho, very casual and friendly. a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders when approved for GC. Once you get this behind you, you'll have 1 year and 9 months (the earliest you can file) for removal of conditions, then another year to file for citizenship!

Congratulations! You're almost there!!!!

Hello Everyone!!!
I hope that all his well with you guys. I have a question, I don't know if any of you encountered the same problem. We applied for our police report from Cape Town on the 15th of november and up to now we didn't received it yet and my fiancee interview is on this 19th of this month meaning in about 3days. What should we do? proceed with the interview or what should we do?
Go to the interview, they will ask you to provide the Police Clearance when you receive it. Until then, your visa will be in administrative processing. We had the same issue. Nothing to worry about.
