You misunderstood. She never DIDN'T hold my hand. Look, the money thing has been settled. No more is going to be sent. She was fine with it, said the money has nothing to do with how she feels about me. We'll see.

I can't keep up with all the inaccurate feedback here. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks for the help, but it's become so negative in here, it's no longer helpful.

And the interview - she's been very firm that she wants me there for it. I mentioned that I may not be able to make it and it upset her. Everyone is different, so red flags may not mean the same for everyone. Of course, I may be 100% wrong, and I realize that. I'll have to work it out as best I can. Thanks for the support.

For the record, I didn't meet any of my wife's friends at all until I was back in Ukraine right before our wedding. We got engaged and all that really quickly though...I think she was a little nervous to introduce me before that because she wasn't really sure if I would disappear or not.

Congrats to you too. Sadly I am in the UK waiting for a visa (hopefully that is one step closer after today) but Trevor said he saw you. He has gone to send off his passport application now because he is coming here in three weeks! :dance:

Well, at least you get to see each other soon. I think Trevor was about the only UK person there today...I was surprised! I think my wife was the only Ukraine person today as well. Hope your visa goes quicker than normal...I know how tough that wait is.

Thank you - and yes, we thought it might be quick because the biometrics were done in February and he has lived in the US for 23 years and has filed taxes all that time, no criminal record etc etc but still almost 5 months. But now onwards with his petition to bring me over.

Well, not to Hijack K & S's thread, but I withdrew my K 1 petition on June 23. I am not sure on all the reasons or if they are true, but what I do know is Olya and I are done! K & S, use your head and temper your heart. Only you will know what is right for you. You are in the situation and have all the information. Everyone here has experienced something and they are giving you their advice. Not to say it is the same situation as you. You have the only say so. As for me, I am not new to RUB women and I can honestly say I did not expect this to happen to me this time. Oh well, I am not one to cry over spilled milk. I have already moved on and I am going to Ukraine next month! Looks like a trip to Odessa and Donetsk. Gary are you coming along for the memories. It is like the Russians and Ukrainians tell me, "It is life and it happens, but we still have to live." So now I choose to live and be happy and whatever happens, happens. Don't cry for me, because I will be just fine.

P.S. I am not going back to Russia!!! I should have stayed in Ukraine. Ok changing my flag.

Sorry to hear about it, but if something is wrong, the earlier the better. Sounds like you are wise enough to know to get right back on that horse because the woman you seek is out there...and in Ukraine! Just out of curiosity...what were your warning signs?

In other news, Mrs. T-B. just today (well, yesterday, now) received her approval letter for the 10-year green card, si man. When I announced this to 5.5-month-old Mini-Bone, he responded with a loud fart. His volume and duration of same are extremely impressive, si man; if he keeps this up, he'll be the star of any fraternity party that he attends in later life.

Boy, ain't THIS the truth, si man.

Congrats! Mine is going to be very popular as well...I swear if I connected a chanter to him I could probably play him as a bagpipe.

I haven't been here in a bit...this thread has gotten a lot more interesting.

K & S, sorry to hear about your situation. It's a tough position to be in to have invested so much in a relationship and to have doubts as to whether it's genuine or not. If you don't mind being sneaky, create a profile with a hot guy on the site she uses and write to her. Then perhaps you'll have some insight into if she is really committed to you or not and how she operates.

As far as photos go...oh man...no one takes more photos than my wife. No one. Upwards of 1,000 photos per day on vacation...that's not including video. Hell, I probably even have 1,000+ photos of her while she is making video! Just dropped 3k+ for a better camera on the 4th...be glad if your fiancee/wife is just making you take photos on a point-and-shoot! I always joke with her that she left out of her profile the part about her match must be willing to be a professional photographer. That said, she's got lots of pictures of just her, or her with her pets, but plenty with me as well that she posts. If she's not proud to show you as her man, I would be concerned. Her behavior in private would be another reason to be concerned...if you are really in love with/attracted to someone, wouldn't you be all over them?

I can't say for sure whether it is 100% necessary or not, but everything I read back at the time we were getting married in Ukraine indicated that you needed a Letter of Non-Impediment to Marriage...it was basically a document that testifies that you are single and thus free to get married that you could get from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev. You would swear under oath that it is true before one of the officers at the Embassy, then get it apostilled at the Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs so it would be legal in Ukraine. RAGS or ZAGS supposedly required it of us before we could get married. But again, I think all of this applied only because I was a foreigner getting married in Ukraine to a Ukrainian citizen. Maybe it can be bypassed but I didn't take any chances. In the U.S., unlike in Ukraine, there is no central database indicating whether a person is married or not. The best you could do is collect documents on a state by state or even county by county basis saying that you are not currently married there. Since that's not really all that practical, they came up with the idea of just having you attest to being single under oath. It's not really "proof", as you could just lie under oath, but I guess in their minds it's better than nothing.

One of the best things I ever did for the health of our relationship in terms of financial harmony was to sit down with my wife, tell her that the money was all hers as much as mine, and then explain the budget. The point is, if we can afford the $200 and it's in the budget, she doesn't need my permission. If it's not in the budget, my permission is not going to change that. She wanted me to be the gatekeeper and take the responsibility for the finances. If it's all both of yours to begin with, it's on both of you to be responsible.

Exactly our solution. I already have everything I ever wanted. I explained to her she can spend whatever she wants, but when it runs out it runs out. She went through a little bit of spending spree right in the beginning to satisfy some long-time wants, but she's been great with money ever since. We're up to the point now where I've explained all the finances, stock market stuff, and even taxes down to the most minute detail (I've always done my taxes myself even though it takes me 3-4 days to do them each year). I never expected she'd be so quick at picking things up, but luckily she's a smart cookie! Everyone has their own way of approaching things, but this has certainly worked well for us.

I'm sure there are scammers there, but many legitimate girls too. Everyplace is filled with scammers...doesn't matter whether it's a website, a bar, a church, a corporation, or government. You have to keep up your guard constantly...if you don't you are a fool who will soon be parted with their money...plain and simple. Trust no one! For the record, I did meet my wife on EM and many other VJers have as well and been very happy.

The true answer is no one knows for sure! There are some really great women out there and there are some snakes! Only time will tell which one you have. Sounds like you are prepared to deal with whatever happens. Enjoy yourself but keep your guard up and everything will be ok imo.

I sent a LOT of money to my wife before we got married and afterwards while we waited for her visa. At one point before we married, I sent her over 10k in one chunk (for various wedding things)...I'll admit ...I was holding my breath for a bit to see whether or not I would ever hear from her again. I was our moment of truth so to speak. Sure enough, she called and let me know she had received everything. My reasoning was, it would still be cheaper to lose that money right in the beginning and know the truth rather than being deceived...it would have sucked, but the monetary losses definitely would not have been the worst part of it. Luckily, my instincts were right and she was even more wonderful than I could have ever imagined. Our wedding was fantastic too I might add and it was well worth it.

As far as work goes...some of my wife's friends from Ukraine have had a hard time finding work. The job situation can be pretty abysmal...but it's all going to depend on who you talk to and what their situation is. For example, I haven't had any problem with finding work here in the USA in the last 10 years and the economy here is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. The other thing I've heard from friends/relatives in Ukraine is that prices on food and everything else have skyrocketed the last few years...many things that my wife used to buy were 3-4 times more expensive on her last visit than they were 3 years ago. So even if your fiancée was able to make her way in the past, she might not be able to now.

It's probably true that if you are supporting her now you should probably expect to continue doing that in the future once she comes here. Maybe she really does want a job, but that still doesn't mean that she will have the drive to do it once she gets here. Anyway, that's nothing really unique to Ukraine...that's just dependent on the person...some women/men expect that the woman will be taken care of by the man and some are more independent.

So the gist of it all is that only you can be the judge, since only you are talking to her and seeing her in person and only you know what your particular situation is. I hope it all works out for you and would love to hear how things go in the future! Good luck!!!

So it sounds like unless you have proof of immediate travel, that you have to have your Naturalization certificate mailed in with your Passport application. Is that correct? They really need one of these agencies set up for people who just don't trust the government to not lose their important documents.

I know the Social Security card needs to be updated to reflect Citizenship. Does anyone know if this updated information gets carried over to the Passport, Driver's License, or anything else? Trying to figure out if we need to update the SS card before applying for the Passport. Also, does anyone have a guide/link with info on updating the SS card?

Oath done. Certificate in hand for about 30 mins before sending it off with the passport app. Good riddance USCIS! Eat sh*t. :-)
