The slick way to do it is to concurrently file for AOS/EAD/AP (I-485/I-765/I-131). This is constantly being mentioned in the AOS forums, and also in the Special Instructions tab in the USCIS Form I-485 link: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485 . The Special Instructions also mention a method for you to now file for AP and not pay a fee. The Form I-131 is a snap if you follow the VJ filled in example: https://www.visajourney.com/content/examples/ .

As others have said, file for EAD renewal 180 days prior to its expiration.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

    Thank you Pitaya.

We did file AOS and EAD concurrently like you mentioned, but I never imagined that AOS would take so long. That's why we decided not to file for AP. I am now planning to prepare both EAD renewal (since it expires in April) and AP, so we will have some chance to have everything ready as soon as possible and travel in May 2020. Thanks again.

It's free: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-485instr.pdf Page 16: "If you properly file Form I-485 and pay the required fees, you may file Form I-765 and Form I-131 without paying additional fees. You may file these forms together, or if you choose to file Form I-765 or Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence that you filed and paid for Form I-485." My recent renewal was free.

Thanks for the response HRQX. We will get the forms prepared in the next couple and apply.

  3. Hello Guys,

We have AOS pending since February 12th with "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" status. We are planning a wedding in May 202, but our fear is that interview would not be scheduled by then and my wife would not have her green card. As we called USCIS we were told that processing times increased from 6-8 months to 10-22 months. Therefore we are planing to apply for travel parole(I-131). My question is since Travel Parole documents takes 3-5 months should we apply for it in the begging of December or even earlier, so we can have our wedding abroad?

PS When should we also apply for Employment Authorization renewal?

    Thank you

  4. Hello, our NOA2 is August 1st and we already have our NVC case number and we already filed our DS160, but we couldn't schedule the an interview because the embassy told us they need a hard copy from NVC to schedule interview. Our case has been showing "At NVC" on the CEAC tracker for about 2 weeks now. My question is how long does it usually takes for the papers to from "At NVC" to "In Transit" and then "Delivered" ? Thanks.

I'm starting to fill out the DS-160 and I have a question.

Once I have filled out the DS-160 is it possible to change the US address in which I will be living? Or does it not matter? The reason I ask is that at the moment my fiance lives in Omaha but he is currently interviewing for a job in Denver. He still has a couple more interviews to go before he will know if he's got it or not, but if he does then he will likely move there before I get to the US. So I'm just concerned that if he does get the job and moves to Denver before my interview (I haven't got my case number yet so don't know when my interview is yet), then the US address on my DS-160 will be different to where I'll actually be living. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in a similar situation. Hopefully someone could answer.
