Any time...It is always nice to meet new friends and people!
Wendy
I get lost in and around MSU all the time! I moved here 12 years ago from the Detroit area. I lived in Bunkerhill out in the country for along time. Now I live out this way. When I go back to the Detroit area, I get lost now as everything is totally changed. It is strange to go back and have everything so different.Do you ever come back to East Lansing?
Wendy
I just had to say after reading your post it brought back sooo many memories for me! I went to school in E.L. and I was just reminiscing on all those places. I used to go to Douglas J and the Meridian Mall all the time! I miss Grand Ave!!!!
Hey Wendy - I haven't been back in awhile. I am really hoping to go back and visit soon though, late spring or early summer. I want to show my husband around and visit some friends. We'll have to meet up if we make it down! I LOVE EL!!!

What is the wattage?

When I was in Jordan, I found a salon that straightened my hair correctly with the blow dryer. I have trouble doing my own hair, so it was nice to go there and have it done. Here they do not seem to be able to do it without frizzing it out. So I wear the curly look. They also did the hair removal with the sugaring there or the string method they don't do that here either.Wendy
When I got to Jordan, I was armed with my straightener because no one has ever been able to straighten my hair with just a hair dryer. The second day I was there my cousin convinced me to go to the salon with her and get my hair done. I was just amazed with the results. The stylists there are great but thats not the trick to getting straight hair with a blow dryer, its actually the blow dryer itself. The ones they have work at a higher temprature with more power. I recently got one that works just as good, its made by Babyliss, expensive but ohhhhhh so worth it.

I use to have a dog which I gave up when I moved to Jordan for awhile. The little dachshund was a terror with kids. She would bite the hell out of one of my daughters (ONLY ). My husband use to say, why doesn't she take her out for a walk in the middle of traffic?
when we moved back here, we found ginger was killed when she ran into the road. He reminded me of what he said about playing in traffic ect... However he HATES dogs, cats, birds, fish... fish??? yes even fish.
At Christmas my daughter was going to get me a sheltie. I love them however. I am to the point I do not wish to train an animal. I have trouble with the three animals I have living here ( OOPS I MEAN KIDS) which i have to clean up after all the time.
I'm okay with the no pet thing....
it would have been funny to see that as a video, him freaking out about the cats. I know my husband gets ashand when I joke about getting an animal...
Wendy
So I was wondering how many of you had pets before your SO came from the MENA and how did they deal with it? My husband sort of freaked out and had many near-strokes when I said I had 3 indoor cats, and then he's sort of softened up.. banning them from the bedroom and the kitchen, but I have a typical American open-flow design and unless we built a wall and installed a door, you can't shut off the kitchen! LOL! WHich gave him another series of near strokes when he heard that. I was like, ummmm... they don't get on the counters, so unless you plan on licking the floor you won't be touching where they touched.I have practically memorized hadeeth about cats being clean
Which I throw at him every time he has one of his mini-strokes
Anyone have any good stories to tell?

I usually wax my eyebrows myself. I tried to teach my daughters how to do the legs etc but found they enjoyed me withering in pain too much to do it correctly... LOL I go to Douglas J for the waxing otherwise.
I do hair and found Bonnie in the Okemos Douglas J is very good. I have very curly hair and unless done right I can look like drag queen bozo!

The US Government should be careful... Referencing an unborn baby as a citizen might help overturn Roe V Wade or better yet, might stop partial birth abortions all the way around!!!
Wendy
How can an unborn baby be a Citizen? Can you get a passport for a fetus?
Does it have to be conceived in the US and if so how do you prove that, especially if you entered illegally.
So Manhattan?, baby Beckham, think I have the name right, is a USC?

QUOTE(heartland @ Feb 7 2007, 01:01 PM)
My daughter who is 11 keeps saying she wants life the way it use to be. Where my mom was with us, her sister was here and she had me to herself.
I think I'm hormonal right now 'cause that made me cry. That is exactly what I know my daughters will say since it has been the "three muskateers" for so long.
I understand trust me there! I just hope my daughter will understand her bio-dad who she defends to the death cares little for her yet my husband cares alot for her. He will even defend her to me telling me not to punish her or even chastise her! UGH!
I think it will always be a little tough situation, life is changing from the original structure, someone new in the house. This someone is getting alot of attention from mom, you can guarantee they are going to act up in someway, combined families all go thru a certain amount of this. Unfortunately the mom is the one in the middle, hopefully the husbands are good to try and understand what is happening and try to do the best both of you can do to get thru these times. Children have a sense of how and when to push the right buttons.I really hope my husband will be able to cope with all that goes on here once he comes. I know it will be a big change for him to live her anyways...

WELL SAID!
Actually what is really sad about this on BOTH sides is that the hatred is being passed down from generation to generation. Regardless of how the hate is carried out, its wrong either way. -

My girls do not have contact with their bio dad really. They do not even remember him and I living together, well the oldest does. It was very hard when DH and I married as at the same time their oldest sister moved out, my mom who had lived with me got married and moved out and we moved to another country.
They had always been able to climb into bed with me at any time or to sit on my lap at night ect... When we were in Jordan, DH and I locked the door when we talked or were intimate. We waited till night to get really rowdy.. lol however my daughters told me just recently that they could hear us anyways and it was gross. LOL cant help that! My daughter who is 11 keeps saying she wants life the way it use to be. Where my mom was with us, her sister was here and she had me to herself. I had to explain that things change. You cant change that.
My daughters one day burst into the room while DH and I were...well you know, thank God we were partially clothed. HE WAS PISSED! They didn't knock and were old enough to know better. I think they wanted to disturb us to be honest.
Now we are separated again it will be difficult when he arrives. First of all, we are in the house where the girls have lived for the past three years. They will feel he is an intruder perhaps. His daughter will be with us and it will be hard on her too, as she is only 3.
I plan on getting a lock for our bedroom door as well as one of those noise things that Dr's offices have that insure some privacy to put in the hallway. I hope to move into a neutral home shortly after he arrives. Where it will be OUR house rather then mine.

There is a book that I loved that dealt with many issues. It's My Ovaries, Stupid!
by Elizabeth Lee Vliet . It deals with all things from puberty to menopause. It helped me greatly and I gave a copy to my doctor!

for Makeup I buy Clinique as I have allergies and the have great products. I also use their makeup remover and moisturizer from them. You can get them at Lansing Mall, Meridian Mall in Okemos at the Department stores.
I like Avon's Planet Spa line http://shop.avon.com/shop/search.asp I adore the brown sugar scrub. I dont have to use my buff puff and my skin is soft, smooth and so clean. I use the shea butter and olive oil products from there for the rest of my body.
For Shampoo I love Avada products. Douglas J Salon sells it, there are two close 1) East Lansing inside the bottom of the hotel off M.A.C. ave 2) Okemos, Okemos road and ??? cant think of the name, by the fire station across from Triple Goddess Bookstore.
Good Luck

When I was in my DH's country I lost weight. He didn't say too much about it. I lost 50 lbs in six months. When I went home I ended up ill and losing 15 more pounds.
Talking to him yesterday he was so happy because I gained back the 15 lbs. He said if he had wanted to marry a skinny woman he would have married a woman from Jordan. They are all tiny there. I didn't know he had felt this way. He said if I lost all my weight, he would still love me however, he preferred me like he met me. If I was unhealthy that is one thing, but I am not. Yes there are tons of men out there who like bbw's (big beautiful women) he happens to be one of them.
Ask your husbands how they feel. It might surprise you. Eating healthy is the key. Starving yourself, is not.

My dr gave me the transdermal patch. It works great. I used that as she was in the navy and had to use them herself as a doctor.

I have white skin and am obviously Caucasian. However when it comes to racial identity I put other... they most always leave a blank for you to fill in.
So for race I put HUMAN
I think if people care more for each other as people and less about pigeon holing everyone into narrow minded PC identifiers, the world would get along better. We are all the same inside.

I just started out doing research on vacuum cleaners. There are three kinds, bags, bag-less, water.
The bags have tiny air holes otherwise the bag would explode right. But this also lets the dust particles and germs out of the vacuum. Also the most you use the vacuum the more the bags fill, the more the bags fill the less it works. (ever notice how good the vacuum works when you put in a new bag?) (Hoover, Kirby..ect...)
Wind tunnel or bag-less clog easily and suction declines, filters can trap allot of what is left however, you will have to clean the filters daily for optimum performance. (dirt devil, hoover...)
Water vacuum cleaners are the best. There was a story in the Saturday Evening Post which confirmed this. The air is blown into the unit, and has to go through water, trapping the dust and dirt and nasties in the water. Clean air is exhausted. There are also attachments in which it turns into a rug cleaner, bare floor cleaner ect... But even this vacuum does not do 100% on ashes and talcum powder...odd I know (rainbow)

I really like this site, it has a cycle tracker that shows just about when you ovulate. http://p223.ezboard.com/bconceptionstore
My husband and I used the clear blue easy fertility monitor that i bought off ebay. Not the sticks, this thing tells you when you start to surge (LH).
Primrose oil, folic acid, and a baby asprin is what I was told to try before I got pregnant...
Good luck to all that are trying!
Congratulations to Salwa and Mark... I tried to send you a message. I know Danielle was to set up a time where we all went out to lunch. I really hope we can do that.

My husband is an engineer also, civil. Actually there is alot he has to go thru here. From what i understand he has to take the FE test, then the PE test and work under an engineer here in the USA for four years (each state has differnt rules) He can apply to the university and have his credits evaluated to see what he needs and whatnot ect...
This is so far what i have gotten.
Wendy
my fiance is studying to be an engineer in his home country of morocco. hopefully by the time our process is finished he will be graduating this summer and he can come to the us! i know it will take a bit for him to get settled, green card, etc...but i spoke to someone who is an engineer and he said as long as he graduated from an accredited university there should be no problems for him to get a job. any ideas of how would i find out if his uni is accredited or not? i hope he won't have to go to school all over again.

but then you would have to weed thru all the ones you have seen before to get to the ones you havnt. I cant remember what row i parked my car in yet alone what number I was on in a thread.
Wendy
These are all great Paul, but is there anyway we could consolodate all these jokes onto one thread? -

I use to belong to LAM but found there was so much fighting and backstabbing and no real relationship help or real friendship I gave up. The one woman I knew for about 5 years on line. She was I thought really nice. She got mad when I married my husband. She said I thought you learned from us! She refused to talk to me after. I have had that only happen twice. Once on here where I thought a woman was nice and friendly and now I seem to snubbed. I thought she could use a friend in this area but I was wrong.
It is funny...people are odd.
Anyways, are there any groups for women married to Palestinian men or Jordanian men?
I would like the women of the Michigan/Ohio/Illinois area together perhaps one weekend this spring and do lunch or something special. To finally meet in person the women behind the names. I know we all have busy lives , however, to gain a sister as a true friend would be nice. It seems as tho most women are from Illinois? networking to help our families is another benefit. If we can help each other.
What do you think?
