Congratulations! That’s so exciting! Could you tell me how long Did it take to get the interview date after the options email was sent?

We had the word experience of they gave us a date and didn't TELL us the date until the day before. Literally got an email saying, "we'll see you tomorrow." So we emailed immediately requesting 3 weeks later and got it.

So technically we would've gotten the date I think a week after choosing an option.

I think it may be a little different notw with there being more bookings though?

  2. Wanted to give an update - hubby is in the US!!

    Interview Tuesday, Sept 29: approved

Applied for travel exemption, approved (he used the email saying he had an interview)

    Visa issued: Wednesday, Sept 30

Received in mail: Thursday, Oct 1

Flew out of Sydney Saturday, Oct 3

Only 30 people on his entire plane.

Landed at LAX, only took 20 min to get through customs and get baggage. The only thing they checked at customs was if the address he told them matched the address on the application.

  3. MY HUSBAND WAS APPROVED TODAY!! Finally after 28 months - approved!! =D

He was the only one in the entire embassy for his 8am interview time - he was there for an hour 20 min. They asked several weird questions like why had I hyphenated my last name, but then normal ones like did I (The US spouse) live in the US? What did I do for work? How did we meet?

Weirdly enough my husband got an interviewer who said we hadn't needed my parents to sponsor (I make only $25,000 per year... barely above poverty level). So it seems the financials at the moment completely just depend on who you get...

For those who have filed the Aus exemption - what did you use as proof to leave? @zochu @aus2tx

Once again thank you for your help, I am so glad I found this site.

    Regards.

Hi John - my expedite I only wrote about emotional distress. Explained that we first lodged our application back in May 2018 and after almost 2.5 years we're distressed with not being able to start a life. Plus husband is in Aus and I'm in the US and been separated since January - so wrote about that too. Got granted from that.

Hi Giggs, I was going to do that but just saw other posts where it seems if you are in Victoria we are not even being looked at until the border issue is resolved. Such a long road here to the last stage and now this. Lets hope the whole covid thing is sorted soon.

Oh totally! Didn't look to see you were in Vic :( hopefully sorted soon for sure!

Hi @zochu, are you saying your CEAC statracker site said refused?? I just went on this morning and saw refused and I'm having a heart attack - but it sounds like this is normal??

Actually this question goes to everyone who's checked the StatTracker before - I never looked at it before today. And seeing "Refused - a US Consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application" is giving me heart palpitations... It seems from this thread that's normal before the interview? If you're approved at the interview it will change to processing and issued??

What a roller coaster! My husband got his interview canned an hour before his interview time due to the last minute lockdown of Auckland last month. We were finally rescheduled for today and my husband has been APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was in and out of the embassy in 20 minutes. We were worried about my income because I moved from NZ and have only been working for 4 months in the US and a co-sponsor was not an option for us. They did not ask to see any paperwork or more financial evidence. I get to see my husband for the first time since Janaury!!! Whoooo!!!

Congrats!! Hoping my husband's is as smooth :) I'm sure you are absolutely so excited! Does he have to get an exemption to leave NZ or will he just be able to fly over?

Oh dear so it looks like I may not have my police cert before I need to go down for my interview....... It should have been here today at the latest and it is no where to be found.

    Should I be worried?

I have a feeling they'll deny until they receive the police cert. I don't think it would be a straight up denial though - it's like the people whose medicals hadn't arrive yet.

emailed the sydneyiv email and this was their response. Did anyone else receive and email like this? An email was also sent to the nvcexpedite email have yet to hear back

@PattyM24 You emailed to expedite right? That goes through NVC Expedite, and for most of us, it took NVC about a week or more to respond. So if it hasn't been a week since you emailed, don't worry yet. Even once they approve it takes another week or so for them to send it to the embassy.

We finally moved to AP on sept 1, after 2 weeks of their eMed tech issues. It’s just this entire process it’s been something y’know?

@zochu maybe they’re just having a hard time licking the mailing stamp to the envelope 😉

I feel you on that it's always something!! It's literally always something! Actually, because of what you guys are going through with the medical delay, we asked for a later interview date to try and have extra time for that medical to get to the consulate!

  11. We finally got an interview date! After the "we'll see you tomorrow" fiasco on Monday, we didn't hear anything until today which was worrying us as we worried they would punish us for "missing" the interview they never told us about. But we got the date we asked for as well - end of September.

Our plan is for my husband to go to Sydney with all of his stuff so that he can leave straight from there and not do quarantine going back to Qld after - save time and money.

Those who have had their interviews and have flights like @zochu - what exemption is it you need to be able to leave? And I think you guys said that got granted pretty quickly?

Sorry about that. But what additional documents did they request?

I hope everything gets settled properly.

They requested our 2019 taxes (mine and my sponsor's), our assets, and tax transcripts. Then they asked us for birth certificates and marriage license. (We still can't figure out why they asked for those since those are some of the first documents uploaded)

  13. ARGH!! So the embassy asked us for more documents, and gave us a week to upload before they would send us a date.

They emailed this afternoon, at 430 pm Sydney time, saying the interview is TOMORROW, which of course my husband won't be at because he's in the middle of Queensland... (Not to mention no medical since they hadn't given us ANY date prior). I just can't with this process...
