  1. The same day I passed my N-400 interview my Case Status Changed to RFE. The officer told me that I got approve and he also told me to read all the information in the paper, especially my name and my date of birth because it is exactly the same information in my Naturalization Certificate. And he told me I will get a letter in the mail for the oath ceremony. But when I check my Case Status in the USCIS website, it changed to RFE. I appreciate any help. Thanks

  2. Interview on 10/21

  3. I'm confused. I will be in the same situation (5 year application) and I never been told here to send these:

    5. Photocopy of my Driver's License and Social Security card. (What for? It's not in the instructions!)

    9. Photocopy of my passport as proof of my travel outside the US. (Uh? Where do they state we have to send proof of this? I thought we only had to send a list of trips with the dates. I will bring passports to interview. Do I really have to make dozens of copies of stamps on passaports??? Doesn't make sense, sorry...)

So - is it better to be sending things they didn't ask, just in case???

I don't see the need to send tax returns for 5 year-based applicants, a) they don't ask for it; b) You will have to bring it to interview anyway in case it gets lost by them.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. On my previous petition I sent more documents or evidence and I notice that the approval was faster. In my N-400 application I also sent more documents or evidence. I also sent all my tax returns since I became a resident.

  4. My N-400 5 years, Package Checklist. Please let me know if I miss something.

    1. Check payment in the amount of $680 for Citizenship application and Biometrics fee.
    2. N-400 Application Form
    3. Two passport size photo.
    4. Photocopy of both sides of my Permanent Resident Card.
    5. Photocopy of my Driver's License and Social Security card.
    6. Photocopy of Marriage Certificate of my previous marriage.
    7. Photocopy of Death Certificate of my previous marriage
    8. Photocopy of Marriage Certificate of my present marriage as proof of name change.
    9. Photocopy of my passport as proof of my travel outside the US.

  5. meblue!! I'm so glad you stopped by I wanted to write you to say thank you! again :D I could not have gotten the DNA tests done as fast as I did without your help. I just got an email from the Blood place and the results are on their way back to the embassy.

Just one (or two :P ) more questions if you have time - how quickly was your visa issued after the embassy received your results? Did you have to follow to make sure they got the results and issued the visa?

I'm so happy you have your daughter with you and your husband and it's such a nice feeling knowing that day is coming for us to. Salamat kaayo kaayo!

    1. how quickly was your visa issued after the embassy received your results?

A- 22 days. When they got the DNA result, it was Tuesday 7/3/12, they pass it to the person who check if everything is ok. I think they started it on the next day Wednesday 7/4/12. Then a week after it was Wednesday 7/11/12. my husband called and they said it was forwarded to the CO, he is the one who decide if the visa is approve. After 2 weeks the CO issue the visa. I think it make sense that we got the visa after 2 weeks because there are people who had their DNA 2 weeks ahead than us.

One more thing when we went to the US Embassy for the DNA sample collection. I asked the guard if I can submit my daughter's passport because I'm sure that the DNA result will be positive so that when the CO will approve the visa they already got my daughter's passport because I don't wanna waste time. The guard called the person inside if I can submit my daughter's passport. The person who answered the phone said. I can go to the window number (I forgot the number). He is a very nice Filipino guy and I told him the same thing. He said OK. So, maybe if you didn't submit your kid's passport yet I think that will add more days.

    2. Did you have to follow to make sure they got the results and issued the visa?

A- Yes my husband called the embassy twice a week. He called the U.S. citizen number and told them that he want to talk to the supervisor of the Fraud Prevention Unit, because they can tell you details about the case. I think it's better that the U.S. citizen will call the embassy because I did try to call twice and they didn't gave me a straight answer. They only said that the visa is still on process.

    Here's my DNA timeline.

6/6/2012 - Ordered and Paid DNA Kit - I chatted my husband through Skype,I scanned the 221g document requesting DNA test that I got from the US Embassy and sent it to my husband in his email. Then my husband go to the US embassy Manila website and there are list of AABB Accredited Relationship (DNA) Testing Facilities in the US,we choose the AABB Accredited closer to our place. He provided them our MNL case number, my name and my daughter's name, our birthday and he emailed them the documents requesting a DNA test.

    6/11/2012 - DNA Kit arrived.

6/15/2012 - Paid St Lukes (PHP 1,500) for the DNA sample collection

6/27/2012 - DNA samples collection for me and my daughter at the US Embassy

7/03/2012 - US Embassy got the DNA result (the same day that my husband got the 221g letter requesting DNA test though snail mail from the US Embassy) I'm glad we did not waited for that mail and we save 27 days.

7/11/2012 - My husband called the US Embassy and they said that our case was forwarded to the CO for the final review.

    7/25/2012 - Visa approved

    7/27/2012 - Visa delivered

They just do the DNA sample collection in the US Embassy Manila every Wednesday and I've noticed that they forwarded our case to the CO at 7/11/2012 Wednesday and 7/25/2012 Wednesday - Visa approved

  6. Just an update on our situation we had the kid's interview this past week. The interview itself was incrediably short. The IO only asked the kids their name and ages then he told us he had no issues with our case it was just the lack of paperwork of my husband as their father. He said that we could either amend the birth certificates to add my husband's name OR do the DNA. We were pretty sure the DNA would be the fastest so that is what we are in the midst of doing.

On another note the IO was convinced we could do the test locally at the same place we got the medical and that information was also confirmed by the supervisor we talked to when getting our exit papers. Of course when we tried to contact St. Luke's they insisted the kit had to be ordered from the U.S. and that they did not have DNA tests. So we are going through that whole process described by meblue.

I think it is a case by case basis and depends upon the specific person interviewing you but I believe if we had any DNA results in our packet or an amended b/c the kids would have gotten their visas that day.

So that's what's going on with us. Good luck to everyone and lets keep the approvals up and the complications down!

    Hi beejay,

It's nice to know that my experienced about DNA help you and the other members here. I hope your kid will get the visa before Christmas. I know it's kind of hard to be on that situation. I remember when my daughter and I was stuck in Manila to do that DNA process, my husband told me that one of these days we'll just gonna look back and these is all gonna be in the past. And now that my daughter is already here in the US, my husband is right. Right now we are happy as a family, we go out together, attend some American and Filipino get together, go shopping, visit my husband's parents, and many more......

  8. thanks for your reply. Yeah Last friday we did request to send us email for the DNA test. Hopefully, this week we can receive the email. We need to process this right away bcoz our medical will expire on September and I need to undergo sputum test AGAIN :crying: in case they see something AGAIN on my xray... It's quiet a LONG JOURNEY for us.. We don't lose hope I belive we will get there soon

During our DNA process. My husband called the US Embassy a bunch of times and asked them that he want to talk to the supervisor because the supervisor can tell you more information about the process.

  9. Hi meblue... :wow: CONGRATULATIONS! Good to know someone here in PI has the same case in DNA testing

I just called USEM this morning to follow up our visa if it is approved after 4 weeks of waiting after the interview (anyway they gave us 221g during the interview they were not convinced with the additional docs I submitted to them thru 2go). So, My son and I requested for a DNA test too. We want the whole process faster. USEM will send the instructions today to our petitioner (my hubby). I think it will take sometime before he will receive it and start the whole process if he waits for the mail. :help: If he can able to choose and contact the AABB Facility now, are there any documents my hubby have to present along with the payment?

Thanks for ur time in advance :)

I read somewhere that they called the USE, and asked them to email the 221g document. Maybe your husband can do it, so you can get the 221g document right away.

Our interview was June 6, 2012, the CO asked a DNA test. They said that we will wait for the papers and instruction from the USE. They will send it to our address in the US, if you wait for that letter it will takes 3 - 4 weeks. My husband got the letter in June 27th the day the US Embassy took our DNA samples. We did not wait for that letter and instruction from the US Embassy. On that same day after our interview, I chatted my husband in skype and I scanned the 221g document that I got from the US Embassy and sent it to my husband in his email. Then my husband go to the US embassy Manila website and there are list of AABB Accredited Relationship (DNA) Testing Facilities in the US, we choose the AABB Accredited closer to our place. The AABB Accredited said they handled many cases like this and they already know what to do. They provided us a tracking number of the DNA kit so we will know if the USE got the DNA kit.

If you haven't gotten the 221g letter yet. You and your husband can request the US Embassy to send that letter as soon as they can.

  11. When my daughter and I had our DNA sample taken at the US Embassy in Manila. The DNA sample was taken at the 2nd floor, then we went to the ground floor and we submitted my daughter's passport at window 38. I asked the Filipino guy who accepted my daughter's passport if we need to come back for another interview and how long it would take for the approval of the visa. He replied, "no more interview and after they got the DNA result if it's positive we will get the visa in 2 to 3 weeks."

My husband called the US Embassy Manila last Monday 7/9/2012, they told him that if we won't get the visa this Friday he need to call the US Embassy to follow up the visa.

My husband called the US Embassy Manila today. The visa got approved yesterday, Wednesday July 25, 2012. We are so happy...

  12. I sponsored my wife's 14 yo daughter for a visa to be issued from Manila. My wife and daughter went to an interview at the US Embassy on June 6th 2012. CO requested a DNA test for my wife and step daughter. They only take DNA tests once a week at the US Embassy, so because there are a lot of people taking the test we were told that the soonest would be June 27. They got their test done, and the results were back by the 3rd of July. It is now July 24 and we have not heard anything. My wife was told that the DNA test was all that they needed. Does anyone know how long we can expect to wait for the visa? I was told that the DNA test was forwarded to the CO on the 11th of July. I'll appreciate any input. Thanks
