There are cases taking less time. My friend received her NOA2 for her mom in less than 6 month. Her case was in Texas (her PD Sept 26,17 & approval 03/10/18).  Uscis is working faster now, well it looks like! I know it was many delays for people of 2017 applications in special

(January-August)   many of them were waiting 7 to 11 months for the approval. I think we are in a better position to get the approval in less time.

Texas Service Center has generally been the fastest over the past 1.5 years or so, closely followed by Potomac. 6 months was the average for I-130's and they are keeping up with the same timeline where as Nebraska is slipping away even more. But I'd suspect there were many I-130 filed late last year with the winds of immigration law change blowing at that time so I'd suspect things will get delayed a bit in the coming few months... Let's see !

  2. The pre-conceived intent and considering it as fraud is not a matter as simple as it seems  - I would rather the OP consult an attorney (and that's what I recommended in my original post)  since it would be a great disservice if we start putting an opinion on topics which are not black and white.

Also, it would bode well, if those who think it is that simple, actually take the effort to read the legal opinion link I posted.

Further, Dept. of State released its latest 90-day rule in (instead of 30/60/90) in October 2017, here which provides additional color to this for adjustment of status for immediate relatives: https://fam.state.gov/fam/09FAM/09FAM030209.html . Essentially preconceived intent is outweighed by the immediate relative aspect through rulings of the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Good News! Got the NOA2 approval for both my mom and dad today in mail. No text notification. Was expecting something in the mail like everyone else. Off to NVC stage now.

Can everyone please update their dates in this table.

Good news A_Singh. Can all those who don't see any status updates online,  please check on the DHS case status page whether it is updated: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov. This one is different than the regular case status that we all see on https://egov.uscis.gov. Apparently, the DHS case status reflect the status more accurately.

  4. I don't know what's so perplexing about your situation. Just get two affidavits from someone older than your mother and who can attest knowing her since birth and her birth details. I know several that have managed to get with this much approved. The link you provided clearly mentions that. I am also going to get the affidavits done since my parents birth were registered late in 1960's and 1980's (decades after birth).

A bonus would be any documentation issued by a government authority -  older the better - (since she has no formal education) that has her birth date mentioned.

Are you doing an adjustment of status or through NVC/Consular process? If NVC, you have ample time to get those things done while the I-130 is processing.

  5. Phoenix, AZ is the lockbox you sent your application to NOT the service center that has been assigned to your case.

The service center address is printed at the bottom of your receipt notice (NOA1). Also, the first three characters of your case number denotes the service center it is assigned to: LIN = Nebraska, SRC = Texas, YSC = Potomac.

You need to change the info accordingly.

Well I contacted the law firm, they stated that the package was received at the lockbox  per USPS but the check was never cashed and that since they submitted the whole package I-485/I-130 that takes longer than just sending the I-130, tbh I think that claim sounds to me like baloney.

To add pain to this issue the assistant told me: be happy they have not rejected the package.

I have contacted a second lawyer for a second opinion, will see from that point on what happens.

You got the right word - baloney !

I would also connect with USCIS and raise a service request. Do you have proof of mailing or delivery ?

    Hello fellow fillers,

I sent my petition for my mom last July 31, 2017, I received a receipt on August 3, 2017.

Today, March 5, 2018 I received the approval notice for my petition. What would be the next procedure after sending it to the NVC?

Does anyone here has the experience and know what's the next procedure would be? What is needed to be filed or any more documents needed? How much will be the next cost or all cost by any means?

    United States to Philippines Petition.

    Thank You in Advance

Can you please let us know which Service Center, your case was processed at (Texas, Nebraska or Potomac?). Thanks...

    Hey guys,

I am going to file petition for my parents who live abroad.

In the USCIS website it says to file petition for mother I need birth certificate that contains my name and my mother's name.

My birth certificate contains names of my both the parents. Can I still use this birth certificate to file petition for my mother or I have to make a new one that contains only my name and my mother's name.

    Thank you for your time.

Of course you can use that birth certificate!! ROFL.

I am filing for I-130 for my parents. I have gone through instructions and several forum posts. Nervous and did not want to make any mistake to add additional delays in application processing, so wanted to confirm:

For each my mother and father, I am filing separate I-130 form each with following:

    1) My naturalization certificate proving my US citizenship

    2) My birth certificate with my father + mother's names

    3) My parents' marriage certificate (both have single marriage and have been married to each other til date)

    4) Payment check

I believe that I no longer have to submit G-325A. Is that all I need to file?

Looks good. The marriage certificate is not required for the mother’s petition.

Remember you can pay by credit card by attaching G-1450. And if you want a text/email on acceptance/ case number generation by the lockbox, file G-1145
