CASE READY FOR INTERVIEW. Mar 14, 2018 (I got this update around Aug or Sept)

    COMBO CARD. Jun 30, 2018

    INTERVIEW SCHEDULED. Jan 28, 2019

    INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT. Mar 14, 2019

CARD BEING PRODUCED. Mar 14, 2019

    CARD DELIVERED. Mar 22, 2019

Sooo first of all our lawyer didn't went with us because He told us that it will be very expensive for us because he charge by hour and he had to drive to another State and our case was very simple, soo he recommended to us a local lawyer that was going to cost us $500 just to be in the interview with us. We had our preparation appointment with our lawyer and was kind of how we need to prepare our evidence and talk about how was the "interview experience" in general also he made the arrangements with the other lawyer and one week before our interview we had a phone call with her just to touch base and be in the same page... As you can see in my profile we had to travel to Minneapolis sooo for us was a little stressful travel with all our originals docs and hopping dont have our appointment canceled because the weather... we arrived the day before and stayed in a hotel in downtown to be close to the building even when we took a hotel taxi to get there... our appointment was at 8:45 am and we arrived around 8:15 or 8:20 and passed trough security and wait for our interview lawyer, she arrived around 8:25 or so and then we went to do the "check-in" we didn't have a minute after the check-in when they call us in... our offical was very fast and focus in his job nothing about chating or anything he started make us swear and checking the I-130 with my husband and almost all the question was for him (He forgot our weeding date... just that was black Friday 🤣) but I just said the date , He also asked my husband my birth date but he was looking at me soooo I started to answer that and he stop me because that was a question for my husband... after that he made a few questions of "NO" in the form I-485, asked about my last entry and also asked about the medicals, then when he finish with that ask about evidence and we got A LOT! I give all that to our lawyer and he asked what kind of evidence we had there and she started saying... house papers, will, taxes 2018, w2 2018, bills, bank statements (2 different banks), work letter of my husband, photos, correspondence of family, etc... he asked about the house and just wanted those papers (the house is in both names but the loan is just in my husband name), he didn't want see anything else, by that moment he printed 3 letters and said... Oh wait I need to see the medicals... checked the medical and added to our file that and the house papers and one of the letters... give us one to us and one to our lawyer and said that I was recommended for approval and explain a little about the 2 years GC and said your lawyer is going to explain that too... thats it have any questions? and we said no, and said ok, have a good day...

we leave the immigration office around 8:45 am and when we was in the lobby talking with our lawyer she was impressed about how fast and with an approval in the spot, she said that in MN office is very usual that they separated the couples in handle the letter saying that our case was going to be under review (thats why she was is shock, also she said that was her 3rd time that week going to an interview and our was sooo fast and easy) we also asked about why he didnt wanted anything and she said sometimes they already know if they are going to approve or not a case and you cant force them to see you evidence because then can start wanted seeing everything... but anyways we was just waiting for an uber when my husband got the update message that our card was being produced....

Thanks everyone and I wish the best result to all of you

If you do not have your immunization records, then you would just get blood titers. Those tests ascertain that you have either had the disease or received an immunization to protect you. There are some vaccines that you would not re-administer because it is not clinically appropriate.

Look through I-693 form. They are all listed there. I would also recommend reading the I-693 instructions. They are a separate document. It is important to know what the doctor is expected to do. For example, you are supposed to sign the form in their presence. Sometimes they do not sign it.

One last thing, if you got the BCG vaccine as a child, know that may cause a false positive result when they test you for TB. If you know you've had that vaccine, inform the civil surgeon. They are suppose to skip the X-ray and go straight to a blood test.

Thank you!! Yes I had that vaccine and They told me that they now are doing blood test for TB, I am going look that because I need my records about last octuber my flu shot and this week hepatitis b and also I have my immunization records from my country... and I hate needlesssss!!!

Thank you for sharing all those details! We know from a Level 2 officer that we are on the "pick list". We are not in a rush, though. Our 2 year marriage anniversary is in August. So at this point, they might as well just interview us then.

Did you look for civil surgeons on this page? https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor

$1,000 is outrageous. I would try to get as much as done on your own. Provide your own immunization records, get the shots elsewhere. You may even want to look for a civil surgeon in a neighboring state.

Hahaha yes Isnt very many civil surgeon here, I am start working in a clinic so I want see what vaccines I need to do it here with my insurance, this is the other thing they told that to get the results could take even a month!! First I need to go over there talk with a nurse, check my recorded of vaccines and get the lab and after that they are going to call me again to go with the doctor for an appointment 😑 and afterrrrr that we have to go and pick the results!!! Is an hour from were I live to the city!! And my husband is the one that drive because I dont know how to drive in icy roads yet 😬 we can loose time if I want my medical ready before the interview... do you know what vaccines I need??

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's amazing! Now we know they're definitely interviewing 2018 cases. I have a few questions for you:

    1. Did you get an "Interview scheduled" notification/status update?

    2. Did you see the piece of mail on USPS informed delivery?

    3. Did you stop receiving the biweekly "no activity notification" emails from the DHS website? The last time I received that email was on Dec 13th. So at this point, I have missed 3 of those and I am wondering if our case is in-transit to the Field Office or even already there.

    Thank you! 🙂

    USC4SPOUSE

Thanks!! Next week I am going to do my medical almost $1,000 that’s what they said because is the only doctor here that do those for immigration...

my husband got an text in his phone and an email and I am using an app so that also said but I didnt get any notifications from the app... now this is in the USISC web site in the other one.. myaccount... still the same “case ready for an interview” and the only emails that we was getting was from the “myaccount...”  we we have around two weeks without gettibg those

and I saw yesterday my informed delivered so I knew it that was there... and the mail person let the lid of the mail box open 😡 with thsw snow and everything here!! Ahh and also apparently my lawyer didnt get copy of the appointment

  7. Hi guys, I'm sorry for not commenting on my progress, what happened is that I decided to get away from the groups and forums a bit since it's a lot of stress to go through this process that is out of our control; I know that maybe many are not religious but in my case I am a person who believe a lot on the ways of God and I know that everything will come at the right time, that's how it has been all my life.

    Here is my update:

    • My PD is February 01
    • Biometrics facts march 07
    • Case ready to schedule interview March 14 (this update only appeared on the DHS website in September)
    • EAD approved June 20
    • SSN received June 29
    • EAD received June 30

We are collecting more evidence and waiting to have an interview :) I am very happy for those that already had their interviews and finished this process and for the others as our selves the will come sooner or later.

How does your husband file, which status does he use for taxes? Married filing separately (MFS) or Married filing jointly (MFJ)?

Do you have an ITIN? Did you get your Employment Authorization card?

    Thank you.

Farrah we used married filing jointly, and NO I dont have SSN or ITIN and we got back the check in the mail, we just add the form that I told you before :) and mailed physically

    Hello,

We have been advised by numerous VJ users to amend my taxes as I did not filed as married. They say that we need to apply for an ITIN for my spouse in order to amend my U.S. Federal income tax return.

We checked on the IRS official website and it says:

If you have an application for a SSN pending, do not file Form W-7/W7(SP). Complete Form W-7/W-7(SP) only when the SSA notifies you that a SSN cannot be issued. Proof that the SSA denied your request for a SSN must be included with your submission of Form W-7/ W-7(SP), whether you are attaching your U.S Federal income tax return or requesting an ITIN under one of the “exceptions”.

When we filed concurrently, we also submitted Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. We applied for a SSN through that form (on page 1, Item 10. "Do you want the SSA to issue you a Social Security Card?"

How can I amend my taxes if my spouse does not have:

    1. a SSN issued;

    2. a notification from SSA that a SSN cannot be issued;

    3. an ITIN (as we cannot apply for an ITIN since SSA did not notified us that a SSN cannot be issued)?

    Thank you.

Hi Farrah I am going to tell you our experience, my husband has an accounting person that make his taxes return every year, sooo he made 2017 and he send to is the forma ready to print and "mail it" sooo we had to print and send by mail 3 packages because he has his living adress in one State, his working adress in other State; sooo was like this

1.- X state tax income with a check (he always pay money)

    2.- Y state tax income

    3.- IRS federal tax income

And  we add the form Form 8948, Preparer Explanation for Not Filing Electronically

But told us that when I get my SSN we need to send to him a copy.

    I hope this help you

My wife's visa expires in two days.  I sent the paperwork and it was delivered last friday via UPS tracking.  I do understand that when the paperwork is being processed she is legal.  My concern is does the check have to be cashed by then or just received?  This scenario just played out in my mind that she might be illegal if they haven't processed my check by the time her visa expires and I may have to send her home so she doesn't violate any laws.  Couldn't find anything concrete on these specifics and decided to seek an answer from the residential experts here.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi, I will give our experience I lost my legal status for around 3 weeks before get my NOA 1 our lawyer explain to us that I will overstay my  I-94 but that doesnt matter for the AOS with a USC, we had a 3 weeks of delate because the taxes and we decided to wait and send everything most complete way possible trying to avoid some resquest of information, I was with the same fear and I didnt want go outside the house... But here is the thing we send all on Jan 30, they recived in Feb 01, they cashed the checks in Feb 09, our lawyer got their NOA 1 in Feb 14 and us one day after (if I am wrong you can see my sign) and even that we got our NOA 1 (that you need have with you always) our PD or priority date is Feb 01; this mean if all the papers that you send are right probably your PD will be the day that they got the package and also the lawyer told us that overstayed visa for more than 6 months then you can have a ban. I cant tell you "Dont worry!" Because I have been there and some times I still have fear, but we are already doing this and of course worth it :)

    Hi all,

I tried to search it first but I could not find a good answer for my question.

I checked the box on Form I-765 that says "Forward your information to get a SSN." On 02/08/2018 I received an email notifying me of EAD Approval. Now, do Social Security send my card by themselves or do I have to go an apply?  I understand that I-765 was not always like this, so please only those who had to fill out this version of the form should respond :) I want personal experiences.

Thank you all! This forum has been of much help and support!!

In other group one guy received first the SSN card in the mail and one or two days latter the EAD, if you recived first your EAD you can go to SSN office :) everything will depend on how fast you want to have your SSN I also mark to get my SSN but if I get first my EAD I am going to run like flash to the SSN office hahahaha

Hello, I'm about to file for AOS and I want to file for EAD but I need to know if do I really need a job offer first.

No, the EAD gives you the opportunity to work and travel abroad while you wait for your AOS process to finish, when you have your EAD you can request your SSN and be able to get your driver's license or ID and with your SSN you can add more evidence of your marriage for the day of the interview such as your name on the utilitiess, or the bank's shared account, etc. :)
