  1. My lease is up in 2 months and we will be moving to a different place. I am filling out DS260 for my parents and there’s a question to where they should mail their green cards once the everything is done. I am estimating that it will be at least 3 months after nvc approves their documents, get an interview appointment and whatnot. Is it safe for me to put my grandmother in law’s house who lives next state and put my name as a contact? We go there often and handles some of our letters. I just dont want to risk losing their green cards to the wrong hands when the time comes. Or should I stick with our current address and call them to change it later? Do you even call the uscis for that even though my petitions went to nvc and consular processing? Let me know. I really want to get this done already.

  2. So I am preparing to do the I-864 for my parents and I have to upload it online. Both of my parents are principal immigrants. I filed an I-130 separately but at the same time. Do I have to upload TWO separate affidavit of support? Or do I just do one? I am planning to just combine it all into 1 pdf file if I have to do two I-864. Let me know so i can get everything ready. I am stuck on this part and I want to get it all done by weekend. Thanks!

Anyone here that did i130 for parents? One week from now, our forms are a year old. I’m not sure what’s going on... I’m checking everyday and it keeps saying case was received. I want to see case was approved.

I did. My PD is June 27, Both my parents’ cases were approved on June 5th. I called them and I was informed. You might wanna try and call.

I think its maybe  because your dad's previous visit history in Dubai he had been staying there for 2 months right? so maybe they just dont want  your dad to overstay in the U.S this time around and they want to prevent the case of adjustment of status to soon cause your citizenship status is still pending right? maybe they looked this opportunity as trying to go to U.S just to 'adjust the status' and overstay so perhaps I suggest you wait until your citizenship is granted and wait for some cooling period then try applying the second time. just my point of opinion but I wish you and your dad the very best in the future

My dad had a 3-month tourist visa when he went to Dubai. He only stayed there for 2 months.

I assumed that they thought of that, but after my citizenship is done, I am planning to get my parents over here but will go through consular processing in the Philippines. So even if my dad got approved with tourist visa I was not planning to "adjust his status" over here as I need him to be in the Philippines to process things together with my mom. But of course COs always think of the worse which is understandable.

  5. So, I spoke to USCIS officer few hours ago and told them that i have not received my oath ceremony yet that is scheduled for March 5, 2018. So the lady I talked to faxed me the oath ceremony letter but it only shows my name, the date and location of ceremony. This is going to be in the judicial court. I was wondering, if I dont receive the actual notice in the mail, can they print the form that I need to fill out at the court office???

  6. So, my status changed on Feb 8 and it says my oath ceremony letter was mailed and to call if I dont receive it by March 10. It's been 2 weeks and no mail yet. I found out about that my oath is scheduled on March 5th because I called the district court that I chose to attend. I tried changing the location before but they would not allow it as it is not within my district. And my district only does ceremony once a year. I was trying to look for an infopass appointment in my local uscis office which is btw 8 hours drive and it does not have anything open in the next 14 days. I only have 5 business days left to wait for my appointment letter. If it does not arrive can I just attend the ceremony and have them verify my name on their list and print me out whatever I need to fill out? This is making me nervous. I have been waiting for 7 months since my approval. I cannot miss this appointment. 😯

The CO possibly presumed that the OP was close to receiving citizenship and the father may want to adjust status

That can be a good possibility. I actually applied for citizenship and it is still pending. But do you think he cant get a chance for a b2 visa anymore because of that?

what country is it for? and he might feel that he does not have strong enough ties to his country.

and depending on when you got here and the status of might have forethought of immigration intent.

I am sure it isn't anything that he said wrong, he was open and honest about his intentions but they are trained to first think of immigration intent.

sorry I didn't see Philippines at the

Same thing happened to my in-laws a few years ago. Got denied the very first try. My in-laws go rattled and were not consistent. It appeared to the CO that they are too eager to come. However, after 2 months, they did try again and since they were more relaxed and answer all the questions clearly, they got their 10 Multiple Entry Visa. They stayed here for about 3 months and after that, they do not want to come back - too lonely and boring for them.

Let them try again and just tell them to relax and be very very honest.

Do you think my dad can try again in 2 weeks? Or is that too early?

What did your inlaws do differently the next time aside from being more relaxed and confident? I am trying to think what my dad can do differently next time if we decide for him to try again.

Nothing was done wrong. We have seen people have good evidence and still get denied. The CO likely didn't think you father showed enough ties to his country. All he can do now is wait a while and try again. Maybe get more travel time.

Does he own property? He has 2 daughter that are away from their country, any children that are still in his home country?

Yes. My dad owns a house, land and a vehicle. He also has 2 other younger daughters in the Philippines. One is graduating college at the end of May or first week of June  (no set date yet) and we want him to be home by then. The other daughter is a minor and still in high school. My mom is also in the Philippines.

  10. Hi everyone! So my dad had his interview yesterday and he was denied. We couldn't understand why.

These are the questions they asked him:

CO: What is the purpose of your visit?

My dad: To visit my daughter

CO: What does your daughter do?

Dad: She is a Registered Nurse

CO: How long has she been working as a nurse?

Dad: Almost 1 year. 10 months to be exact. ( I passed my boards not too long ago).

CO: How did your daughter get to the US?

Dad: Through a K1 Fiancee Visa.  (My husbad and I met in europe)

CO: How long has she been in the US?

    Dad: 4 years.

CO: Have you travelled out of the country before?

Dad: Yes. (Visited my sister in Dubai for 2 months)

    CO: Another daughter?

    Dad: Yes.

CO: Unfortunately, I cant grant you a visa today. Try again next time.

What mistake did he do? I cant see anything wrong with his interview other than his denial. My dad has other 2 kids who are in college and highshool.

What do u think is the basis of his denial? Can he apply again in 2 weeks? We have a planned vacation at the end of March. (We dont usually go on vacation so this is a perfect time 👌). And his birthday is on May. Thats why we wanted him to stay 2 months. What can we do differently?

  11. That's all the ties he has in the Philippines. I dont know how else he can prove to the CO he is going back to his country.

Another question though, on the DS 160, the education part, my dad went to A LOT of schools. He has a degree in accounting and some years in engineering, and so many others. I guess he couldnt decide what he wanted to do when he was younger. LOL. Do I have to put all the schools he went to?

  12. Hi everyone! I am new here. I am a permanent resident here in the US and my husband is a US citizen. I am currently helping my dad with his DS-160 for a B2 visa. He lives in the Philippines. He is currently not employed but we have a farm and thats what he's been busy with - farming. Prior to that, he was working as a taxi driver. He owns a house, a farm and a vehicle but not a bank account. He's been out of the country before. He went to Dubai, UAE to visit my other sister and was granted 3-month tourist visa but he only stayed 2.5 months. He only has my other 2 younger sisters (plus my mom) living with him, one is in college and graduating in June and one is still in highschool.

Another thing is, I set him an appointment for tourist visa back in 2013 to attend my wedding. Unfortunately, the appointment I set was too closed to my wedding date (I couldnt get an earlier appt and the date i scheduled was not gonna work), so we decided to not pursue it. BUT, I forgot to cancel the appointment. I believe that is considered abandonement.

    My questions are:

    1. With the previous employment as a taxi driver, would that cause a red flag? I dont want CO to think he is coming to drive a taxi here.

    2. Does his travel history and my sister graduating raise his chance of getting a visa? I already know the employment will probably not gonna be enough.

    3. And where do I put the one where he had a scheduled appointment before but abandoned? Will that be under refusal of visa? I mean he didnt technically got refused of visa.

    4. Really, what are his chances of getting approved overall?

P.S. My dad will be visiting us for 2 months only and will be back before my sister's graduation. I work as a nurse and my husband has an online business. We will be paying for all his expenses.
