    Heya!

    glad i found this thread.

sent out my package on may 1st to texas from Nashville.

And this morning I got the notification from UPS it was successfully received.

now waiting for the sms from USCIS.

Have you received your extension letter. I'm still waiting on mine. It's been 22 days since I've waiting

  2. Hi guys!

I have gathered all my evidence:

    • Copy of our marriage certificate
    • Copy of our car insurance policy
    • Copy of our BJ’s household membership cards
    • Copies of the joint tax statements for the previous two years (2018-2019)
    • Copies of statements of the last six months from our joint checking and savings accounts.
    • Copy of XXXX renter’s insurance policy
    • Copy of the joint lien agreement on our car
    • Copy of our joint loan account from XXXX
    • Copy of medical insurance cards, showing joint policy

That's all I have. Would that be sufficient? Unfortunately, we haven't taken any trips anywhere so I don't have receipts or airline tickets to show anything.  Also, the I751 is the only form I need to file to remove conditions correct? I know with the AOS I had to submit a few forms.

    Thanks in advance!

thank you! it's just so confusing because they told me to bring that medical thing to my interview so i was wondering if my work permit and travel card will arrive soon without my schedule of interview yet my question is can i be able to use my work permit while waiting for my interview for my greencard?

Yes, that's the whole purpose of it...to be able to work and travel while the adjustment status process is pending

hi dear i received courtesy letter to that my I-693 is no longer in use so i need to bring that on mu interview i just wanna ask if who comes first the work permit or a greencard interview coz mine its a combo my lawyer said if it comes it should be the travel card and work permit im just confused

Hi, there is no interview for work & travel permit. The only interview is for the Green Card. Most people, including myself, received the work permit first. I didn't get to use mine because my green card came a few weeks later so I ended up using that.

@Kaylip, is your 485 approved. I have the same letter from USCIS. Please let me know what they asked at the interview.

Yes, it was approved 5 weeks after the interview (the officer had told me and my husband to allow 2-5 weeks before we get anything in the mail). The officer basically asked us about 3 questions and we were out within 10 minutes.

He just asked how we met, who's the better cook and what trips we took together. That was it.

If you value being the US now as opposed to year from now, then AOS. You will get the employment authorization and advance parole (permission to travel and re-enter) in 3-5 months on average.

If that does not sound appealing, then yes CR1.  Kiss your chances of entering the US in the meantime (about a year) goodbye. Some couples value being together, and I reject the idea that just because "many couples here are apart for a year" that means you have to be too.

    1

Since he may be deployed they'll be apart anyway so she might as well go back home and be with her family. It will take a huge toll on her mentally to be here alone with no support system, no SSN, no Driver's License, no job. CR1 is best.

That is my point. They did not make up anything. They told me that they cannot hire me based on my immigration status...

There you have it. End of story. They said they cannot hire you based on immigration status and your EAD doesn't grant you a protected status, it even says so on the back of your card. With the political climate right now, your status isn't secure enough for them to consider hiring you, especially if your position is in a high rank. They need to know that they can hire someone who can be with them for a long time. An EAD is a temporary document valid for 1 year-and can also be renewed. That's fine to them, but the fact that you have no status and can be deported at any time is not secure enough for them. If I were you I would thank them for the opportunity and ask them if there is any way that your file/application can be recommended for future employment upon receiving GC.

Most immigrants years ago had no formal education and EAD holders would have jobs but not high ranking jobs in prominent firms. H1B yes but not EAD holders. That's the reality of the situation.

When I received my EAD and started looking for jobs I soon realized how restricted I was because certain jobs prefer or require PR or USC. Even down to the SS card with the DHS AUTHORIZATION ONLY words inscribed across it also shows how "restricted" and limited the EAD holder is.

At this time you can choose to be humble and apply for employment in not so high rankings in firms. You stated that you need to work, well, working there would show your skills and effort so when you do receive your GC you can apply internally in the organization for a higher position and you would more than likely get it. I know you are educated and want to be paid what you are worth but this is America and each state has their own laws so if someone in MS got hired on EAD in Florida it doesn't mean an EAD holder should also get hired in Colorado. Just my 2 cents. All the best!

  8. Do CR1. I got married on a B2 as well, spontaneously. The whole process from sending in the applications to receiving green card took 5.5 months, 169 days and it wasn't easy. Not being able to work and falling out of status really depresses you. By doing CR1, you wouldn't have to wait long to get your documents to start your life. He wants you to stay but eventually he will start to feel the burden financially on having to provide for a spouse on one income. Know that if you stay you will not have a life until you get your Social Security number and driver's license. You will have to depend on him and be at home. You will start to feel it. Trust me

There's a TV show on TLC called 90 Day Fiance'. It's about people on K1 visas adapting to the states and connecting to their spouses. It has insight on the pros and cons of moving to the USA and having to wait for a life.

    All the best.

This just means they don't have enough information to go through sufficient identity proofing to verify that you are who you say you are. It is not an issue for an employer using e-Verify...it's just your self-service account having an issue.

So are you saying that the employer wouldn't get the same message I'm getting?

I had the same error. Only site I could login to was new uscis site ( my.ucis.gov) that site works for me. Old site and phone app still give me error messages

Hi, I'm still unable to access with the error message but I already did my interview and was approved on spot! I'm waiting on my card in the mail. My i765 just got updated today saying my card is in production! A little too late cuz it will be useless when I receive my GC.

    Hi Kaylip,

I received the same yellow courtesy letter from the USCIS about my medical. However, the medical was submitted but the physician submitted it on an expired form. I received that notice on March 18, 2018. I have not yet heard from USCIS.  I'm adjusting my status from a J1 to the Green card. I am from Jamaica.

Kaylip, have you heard anything else from USCIS?

Yes. I have the interview 31st May

    Hi Vj'er's!

Happy to announce a AOS interview for my spousal GC has been set for May 16th. Hurray!

I sent my application in on Jan 22nd 2018 and had one RFE. Relatively smooth sailing even I missed out on my Easter Holiday back in the UK (over zealous with my AP calculations!)

We don't have wedding rings as we're saving them for our second wedding next year. Is that cool?

I guess they can't judge what we choose to do...or can they?

Any other interview tips for the Los Angeles branch welcome also.

Thanks and I hope you're having a relatively stress-free VJ time too.

Congrats! What status are you adjusting from?

I submitted my RFE for i-485 application in Feb this year. Since I don't have social security number, I don't have job offer yet. But my wife needs my SSN to file the tax return of this year. Can this be the reason to speed up the process?

Actually no, you guys can always send in the tax returns with a w7 application (that's for persons without SSN).

Thanks so much. Exactly thats is the issue, there is no reason for delay, i am F2A, I am waiting this since 2015 and i thought after the interview everyting is going to be done, but nothing, i dont know why today i received emails saying that my case is still under review and there is nothing to do now. I make infopass every month, and already contacted senator, ombudsman, congressman, and nothing.... i am so tired of this process and hopeless.

Hey, did you sign up on https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ new USCIS website to check your cases?

  15. I have been having the same issue for the past week. I called USCIS yesterday and was transferred to a level 2 officer who said that they are currently updating their websites and a list of names have been sent off to an interview list and my name is on the list and that's why my i485 status isn't showing because they're updating it. She said by next week I should see an update and to expect a mail in 2 weeks time.

  16. I think you and your unborn child's well being comes first. If I was in your position I would try to make some inquiries and see if the date can be sooner. Call the Application Support Center for your area and ask questions about it, nothing wrong with finding out. I wouldn't postpone it because you never know what complications can arise during delivery or how long your recovery time will be for you to be well enough to go to the interview. That's just my opinion. Good luck!

  17. Hey guys, so I've already done Biometrics appointment since 02/21 and I guess I have to wait for a long time before I get a work permit, etc. I'm very bored and would like to volunteer. I've already signed up with habitat for humanity and did a project a few Saturdays ago but I'd like to do more during the week. I also know it would be good for my Resume when I do start working. However, I'm having difficulties finding places that don't require SSN to volunteer. Does anyone know of any organization that accepts volunteers without SSN or don't require background checks? Please share.

    Thanks!
