  1. I would like to do the 130 for my mother in law who lives in and is a citizen of Mexico to get her a green card. We would be filing non-concurrently with her in Mexico.

Does anyone have any helpful information to share about the experience? Was it difficult for the parent to travel into the US as a tourist while it was all pending? They would both fly and drive when the border was open and will hopefully be doing it again once covid gets under control.

Also, I'm aware the 130 has to be filed in my wife's name. Not really looking on any info about the paperwork. Just need more info about the experience of the person waiting.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello I am trying to figure out if I should go ahead and change the maiden name of my wife on her Indian passport while we wait for her interview to be scheduled by USCIS. We already have a SSN under her new maiden name, her EAD card is under her new maiden name. Just not sure if we should apply for name change on her Indian passport. If any one has any experience or any feedback we will really appreciate it.

I don't think the US cares what name she has on her Indian passport.

Just had my interview at 10:00am today. It was a judicial oath ceremony. There were 94 of us. It was a smooth journey for my naturalization. Thank you everyone. Btw, application took less than 6 months. I applied June 24 and had my oath 12/11/2019. I had a name change so maybe that’s why I had longer wait time.  Anyways, good luck to all who are still waiting.

How long did you spend at the ceremony?

Got Interview Letter Today in Documents Tab for Jan 6th 2020.

FP was done on 7/1/2019 (Washington DC)

Planning to travel out of country post interview but before Oath.. (assuming oath is 3 weeks after interview) ..Is there any issue ?

Are you getting your name changed as part of the n-400? If so,  you might have to wait longer than 3 weeks. It was 6 for us but there are others that waited for 3 months.

Are there any movies that are historically accurate enough that could be watched that can help with the history part? Of course it is a fiction and somebody's vision, but some are more truthful than others. Family movie night could become educational. Specifically about the writing of the declaration of independence and events surrounding mid 18th century.

I found the best thing was making physical flash cards for my wife.

When you apply for passport, you are also providing your original naturalization certificate. So, per my understanding, you will get it back only after passport is issued. Besides, you still need to wait atleast 10 days before going to the Social Security Administration to update things as it may take some time to reflect at their end. That is why I said, after getting passport, update SSN and DL

Are you sure you have to provide the original certificate? I thought you could just make a copy and submit that.

  7. Has anyone gone though the green card process for the parents of the immigrant's parents once the immigrant gets citizenship? I understand the new citizen would have to file a 130 and then the parents would go to the consulate in Mexico and file the 485. I have a few questions.

-Does the new citizen filing the 130 affect the parents' availability to get a tourist visa that they regularly use?

-Does the parents filing the 485 affect their availability to get a tourist visa that they regularly use?

-Does getting a green card mean they have to commit to living in the US?

-How long does the 130 stay active until expiring?

So from what I read, I understand that we can still provide a copy of our old Driver's License and the Naturalization Certificate will act as proof of our current name and indentity for the passport application.

Once passport is received, then update SSN, then update DL info in that order? Any other things come to mind that need updating?

Why do you need to wait until you get the passport to get a DL and new SS card? Doesn't the naturalization certificate and marriage certificate work to prove identity requirements for SS and DL?

I had a combo interview n400 and I751 both were approved and  my Oath was scheduled right away was sent to get a seat while they printed my Oath letter.

Had my interview July 9th and Oath ceremony was on July 12.

My local office was Oakland Park FL.

It all depends on your Local Office.

It all depends if you want a name change which needs a judge.

I put our full names, as they are on the back.

And have already successfully naturalized, by the way.

But I'm guessing they see this confusion a lot.

Put your name exactly as listed on the BACK of the green card.

The back of the card has all 4 names but missing a letter in the middle name.

    "Mason>Jones<<Joe<Harr"

So would I put "Harr" as the middle name as it appears on the back or the full proper "Harry"?

Lol. Love the Game of thrones reference there.

    Given name: Daenerys

    Middle name: stormborn

    Family name: Targayen Drogo

    Dont over think it.

Thanks!  Was looking for something that people could identify as far as what name belonged where.

Does it not matter that stormborn is missing the last letter on the back of the green card so it just says, "Stormbor"?

  12. Hey Guys,

I'm having trouble with this question: What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?

There is a discrepancy in how the N-400 fields are formatted and how the green card is formatted.

This is what the legal name should be:

    Given Name (first name): "Daenerys"

    Middle Name: "Stormborn"

Family Name (last name): "Targaryen Drogo"

But the front of the green card says:

    Surname: "Targaryen Drogo"

    Given Name "Daenerys S"

and the back of the green card says:

    "Targaryen<Drogo<<Daenerys<Stormbor"

The N-400 is asking "What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?" with fields for Given Name, Middle Name and Family name and I'm not sure what to put.
