According to the USCIS processing times website Nebraska is taking 7 to 9.5 months for approval, as of today the current receipt date for case inquiry is November 26th, 2017. According to your timeline i believe your PD is January 3rd, 2018 and if i did my math right your case should approve on or before October 3rd.

Congratulations! Wow TSC, I thought Nebraska was the only one with crazy delays. I'm still waiting on approval from Nebraska, today is day 238. I'm very hopeful and trusting God

After about 10 phone calls to USCIS, checking case status every hour, refreshing email, checking my texts, and contacting congressman we were finally approved from Texas Service Center on the 20th of August after a 248 day wait. No RFE just straight approval, but 248 DAYS! I feel very happy but i can't help but feel slightly angry seeing all these cases that were filed MONTHS after mine getting approved. My case had reached "outside of normal processing time" and when i called to fill out an inquiry with a Tier 1 agent i was told that my case was approved. If anyone is in a similar situation i highly suggest checking the processing times on the USCIS website, if your case has been pending for about 7 months without an RFE more than likely its heading towards approval, at least in my experience.

It took around 15-20 days for me. Hopefully you will see an update on USCIS website before this month end. Good luck.

We’re atill waiting on Nebraska Service Center.
Priority Date: DECEMBER 8th
We organized all the paperwork and evidence very well and labeled everything. I have no idea why it’s taking so long. In a couple of weeks I will submit an “outside normal processing time” request if it doesn’t get approved before then.
Praying they approve it and SOON!!

We included a lot of evidence at the uscis stage so as to avoid the need for DNA test for our son. We included my antenatal card showing all my hospital visits during pregnancy, ultrasound scans ( 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester), all hospital receipts from birth to about a month before sending the i130, vaccination records which showed my name, my husband's name and our son's name. baptismal records which showed our 3 names, his birth certificate which showed our names, flights records showing our 3 names, and lots of pictures from the day he was born to about a month before sending the i130. Hope this helps

Do you mean you were expecting a $3,000 refund on your return? Just because you provide an ITIN would not be a reason for the IRS to “keep your refund”, but your filing status does impact what you owe or what you are due.
I can’t know what the outcome would be for you under a different filing status because everyone’s situation is different. The reason you might have a higher refund due with one status could be because there are different tax brackets and rates applicable to different filing statuses. If you visit the IRS website, and specifically read through Publication 501 you can find out which statuses you might qualify for. If you’re unsure of what the implications are for your situation, I would consult with a tax expert. Good luck!

It took 6 weeks for me after NVC received my case to assign a case number, if you call them they will say it’s up to 8 weeks.

Hi everyone, so this is my timeline hope it helps or gives a bit of hope.
Sent package December 8,2017
Noa1 received December 12,2017
noa2 approved June 4, 2018
nvc received approval June 25, 2018
nvc sent case number August 4, 2018
paid for aos
sent off package for bio, waiting for nvc instructions. August 6, 2018
Note: they told me it’s taking 6 months for an interview right now after nvc is done. This was heartbreaking but I’m a very proud person and refuse to get down on a situation I have no control over. So my advise take it or leave it is many people get denied, at least we are the few lucky people who still has a chance to bring them over. Remember, everyone case is different and once it goes to your embassy for interview it could be no wait time or in my case Juarez, mexico half a year.

Another week of waiting.
Today a fly in to Mexico one more time to be with my partner. It gets harder each time to leave my home and family. So hard to juggle 2 lives when all you want is it to be one life one location. RFE was received Aug 3rd at USCIS i hope we get an approval soon. How much more time is to wait? And do they know how hard this is?
Since Dec 20th and still no response.

That is correct, @Washington123 read this very helpful. Once again thanks

There are other rules as well regarding the portion of expenses you pay (at least 50%) for the household and whether you are considered married for tax purposes (there are special rules on this point as @Sugarlegetiti and I were discussing yesterday ).
This is a screenshot from IRS Pub 501, which details the current rules: https://www.irs.gov/publications/p501#en_US_2017_publink1000220775
If you read through Publication 501 section on Head of Household, you can click through the relevant links to find which apply to your situation. Hope this helps!

Head of Household can only be filed by those who own a house right?
