My wife traveled several times using the extension letter and expired 2 year GC with no issues.  I do suggest you make some copies of the extension letter when you receive it just in case someone (an airline employee for instance) asks to retain a copy, you need the original watermarked letter to show CBP when re-entering the US.  If you plan to be out of the country more than six months, some suggest applying for a re-entry permit prior to departure, but technically, you only need that if gone for more than 12 months.

Okay good. Thank you so much for your advice and for answering my questions.

For the ROC you will get a letter back saying that it was extended usually with in about 2 weeks once the packet was received.

Ok good thank you so much!

My wife received her extension letter 7 days after USCIS received the package.

Ok good thank you so much! Also do you know if you can travel during this process outside of the United States? The officer told me that we can without any problem and can stay up to 6 months.

well I think he's right, because I was on my way to USPS to send my package, while I was waiting for anybody to answer me from USCIS, and the USCIS agent said the same thing. she laterally said if you send your package before the due date, they will send it back to you, they won't accept it. So I honestly I DONT wanna take any risk and will wait until the due date!!!

Yea but I’m saying the officer said I can send it one week before the beginning of the 90 days like it says on here I can start sending it 1/22/20 but he said I can go ahead a send it 1/16/2020 which I see now is not true.

Yeah, they are wrong.  There was a member that applied for N400 online right after their 90 day window opened, and for some reason the IT system back dated it one day, and they were initially denied at the interview.  They were eventually able to get it resolved through proof that they actually filed on the day the window opened.  It is similar for the ROC, it is better to wait to avoid having a package denied, and remember USCIS does not issue refunds.  In our case, my wife sent in her ROC between 2 and 3 weeks after her window opened.

Now of course you can pull together the package and have it ready, just wait to send it off, and don't worry about needing to add your child's info, you can add that later if necessary at the interview.

    Good Luck!

Okay thank you so much! I already have the package ready even have a cashiers check..Can you also tell me how long does it take to receive a letter in mail after you send the package saying that the green card has been extended?

As @Bill & Katya pointed out, you are incorrect in your date calculation.  Your 90 day window opens on 1/22/2020...I would wait until 1/23/2020 to send it.....Do NOT allow them to receive the package earlier than 1/22/2020......

Okay thank you so much! I guess I thought I could send it a week before since the officer at the USCiS application support center told me that I could apply a week earlier.

Do not, under any circumstances, send in the package early, it will eventually get rejected outright.  According to your dates, the earliest he can file is 1/22/2020, so if the baby comes on time, send it a week or two later.

Congrats on the upcoming bundle of joy!

    Good Luck!

So you can’t even send it a day before? It’s weird because the officer at the USCIS application support center told me that I can send it a week before?

It's recommended to print the ds-260 once you're done filling it out. I'm not sure if you have to bring a copy of it to the interview, but definitely good to have a copy.

You will fill out the I-864 since the petitioner is always the main sponsor...and then your dad will fill out his own I-864. If your dad files taxes jointly with a spouse, then that person should fill out the I-864a.

Oh okay, thanks for all your help it really means a lot.
