Feb-10-2018 - Send IV package
Feb-13-2018 - Scan Date
Feb-27-2018 - NVC Case Complete
So after making the phone call last night and getting told it was "case complete" at NVC we wake this morning to an email with a checklist.
1. Because my wife has lived outside the US for so long she ticked the box for No tax returns for 2016. This was correct but we were silly to not include a note explaining why she did not have to file.
2. Domicile, again something we could have avoided by writing a cover note. My wife has to show "Intent to domicile" and for this we showed bank statements, credit cards, store cards and purchase of a car and proof of extended warranty and voter registration. So she has to write a cover letter with a declaration explaining her intent to domicile and how each piece of included documentation proves that intent.
No big deal she just has to write both notes and I have to bring them to my interview which she will attend anyway.
14 days from scan date to case complete, the NVC appear to be working fairly quickly to get through cases. It's actually caught us both out because we thought we had more time to plan our move. The thought of having to go through our home now to start packing, arrange for it to be transported by cargo ship seems very daunting. At this moment I wish we lived minimalist lives and could just buy plane tickets and pack a suitcase. House moving is stressfully normally, oh wow the thought of an international house move.
Do you know if we have to send a domicile if I won't be the sponser but my dad ?

it can take up to 6 weeks to receive them. Then after they put it in the system as received it takes up to 2 weeks to assign a CN and IIN or maybe longer. After 2 weeks if they still haven't assign the number they send it to a supervisor for review to assign it. from this point it can take up to 6 weeks to get the CN. For example in my case:
mine was sent on 26 Dec.received on the 8 Jan.
on 23 Jan sent to a supervisor
on 26 Jan they put another note
today is the 3 Feb no case number yet. they are saying they are having the largest case income ever that's why it is taking so long. The explained that they get thousands of cases at once that are in smaller stacks. and it takes time to go through all of them. I have seen people with the same dates at once and they already have their case number and moving on with the other steps at NVC. On Monday it's gonna be exactly one month since they have had my case there. I don't want to scare you. I'm just saying this so you know how it works. Just be patient, and I know it's so easy to say it but we don't have another choice. Everything is gonna be OK.
I wish you good luck.
Can you please update your timeline! It helps all of us to keep track on NVC and USCIS.
Oh wow...thank you so much for all the info. I honestly didn't expect it would take that long...thank you and good luck to you hopefully we both get a case number soon.
I will update my timeline!

to receive case number from the time your documents are delivered to NVC ? i sure hope not .....
my case was delivered to NVC on 22nd , I called NVC tonight they said no case # yet it can take UP to 2 weeks on most occasion to receive your case #
on average i have seen it taking from 10-20 days from the time they received your case ,
My I-130 was approved on January 16 and I called the NVC and was told that it takes around 6 weeks for them to receive the documents and to get an NVC number, I'm so confused why is it taking that long when I am reading on here a lot of people received their NVC number in 3 weeks or less.
-
Is it possible that it takes 6 weeks to receive an NVC number ????

Can u send me the link?

I know it's such a niche that information is sparse but does ANYONE have any inside knowledge on the expedite post-process.
I've heard everything from "You need to call/email/send a form to the embassy because they won't do anything without it" to "Follow the DCF process" to "The NVC will handle it".
Any clarity on the London Embassy process would be helpful.
I'm assuming they would get the file and send instructions, even if they are "Go to the website and schedule your interview"
How did you expedite your process?

No dear. Your priority date marks the day that the processing center has received your application. Like @CK+MH said, this date is listed on the first notice of receipt which is sent out months before the approval. Hope this helps 😊
Oh i Understand, so if They received it in April, my priority date is in April and that is when my case should be complete? Is that how it goes. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions.

It is on the receipt notice that you should have received with your case number. It is sometimes referred to as NOA1.
Oh so that is after the I-130 is approved?

HI everyone! Our case was at Potomac with a PD of April 19. I received text message and an email today stating there has been an update to our case and to check the online case status for more information. When I checked the status had changed from case received to case was sent to department of state on 12-22-2017. Potomac center averages 5-6 months but we waited over 8 months. I have not received an approval notice via mail yet. Those from April and May still waiting, it is coming. Keep the faith.
Where can I find a priority date for my case ?

It is just a letter you type. For example:
To Whom It May Concern,
(NVC)
I, ______________________, hereby state and declare that I intend to re-establish my domicile within the US. I have sent the following documents stating that _______________________. My plans once I am in the US with my spouse are _________________________________.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
(Name)
Once you type this you can attach the documents to it. For me, I attached my voter's registration information I attained online, my car insurance policy that I am still paying in the US which shows I own a car in the states and my current address matching the one in the petition.
That is all I had. Hence why I typed the letter as well
Oh okay, thank you so much for your help.

Yes, I'd also add a letter of intent to re-establish domicile just to add on to the proof.
What kind of letter is that ?

As the US citizen you have to show your intent to move back home. My wife and I are in a similar situation and are currently in the US gathering evidence to show intent.
Bank accounts, register to vote, drivers licence anything that shows you are planning to return to the US.
Oh so I could just send a copy of my license and my bank account statement to show that I am planning to return to USA.

Yes, they ask for documents that have been submitted before. This is what I included in mine...
IV PACKET:
NVC Bar Coded Cover Letter
Biographical Data of Beneficiary's Passport
Beneficiary's Birth Certificate with Translation
Marriage Certificate with Translation
Police Certificate with Translation
Military Record with Translation
AOS PACKET:
NVC Bar Coded Cover Letter
My I-864
My Tax Exemption for 2016 (been living abroad with husband, if you have been in US and working, disregard this. If in US and NOT working, submit Tax Exemption Affidavit which can be typed by yourself explaining why you did not file taxes and sign it)
My Joint Sponsor's 2016 Taxes along with W2 and Pay Stubs
Joint Sponsor's Employment Letter (Not needed but it definitely helps)
Joint Sponsor's Biographical Data of Passport
Domicile Proof (This is ONLY for people who have filed and are living with spouse abroad. It is a statement declaring intent to re-establish a domicile within the US. Otherwise, disregard this.)
My biographical data of Passport
My Birth Certificate.
I made a replica of each packet for myself. Which means one IV and AOS Packet I sent to NVC, one IV Packet and AOS Packet I kept for myself.
Once organized, I wrote my case number (NVC Case Number) on EVERY paper/document so in case they misplace it, they can easily place back within my case file.
Hope this helps.
Wow that is a lot for step 2. I thought IT would be a lot easier. What is the domicilie proof AND how do i GET that Because I am currently living With my husband in EUROPE?
-
So for NVC a birth certificate AND marriage license is needed even tho they already have it from the first step the form I-130???
-
So you got an approval today ? After 3 weeks?
-
Oh really? I sure do hope so...
-
Yes they received mine Dec 4th but I still don't have an answer.it says it can take up to 2 months to get an approval. I really hope that it will take quicker than that.
