Soo.. the legal department of my company has contacted the embassy for an estimate dates for DS-5535 completion.

The reply was.. "DS-5535 takes from 2 to 7 months to get approved."

I have applied for a B2 visa - business visit.

It got approved in person, took my passport then called me the day after to fill the DS-5535 form.

Then why do they make people wait for more than a year? It's been 7 months since my interview and 5 months since i filled that form ds5535. Hopefully everything get resolves soon. Good luck to u as well and thanks for sharing this.

    Hello All,

i has my interview. everything went very smooth and while i was waiting for my turn all the other people that were interviewed by the CO were rejected and he handed over a yellow slip to all of them.

while i was praying and trying to keep relax my token number was called with my name.

i went to the Window first to Submit all the Documents and the second call was for the Fingerprints.

the last time i was called, the CO told me to raise my right hand and take an oath (everything i say will be correct and truth)

he asked me 5 question. only 5 questions and the last question was what do i do? i replied to him about my job status.

CO said, everything is good and i don't see any problem and i am approving this but we need 2 months to issue you the Visa. you can contact the embassy if you don't get your Passport by July.

My status was READY and after the Interview it has been changed to ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING.

i check my Status everyday and the Case Status date is changing everyday that means they are working on my case.

i am very much relaxed as i had my full plans to leave for the U.S in late September or in the beginning of October.

let me know your views and if someone was told a specific time and did not get the Passport.

    thanks.

    Peterson John.

yes ,for sure ! I was waiting for 6 months it was a very hard time , for us.But be patient my friends , i know that is a hard for everybody, but think positively. We sent our Packet in November or October 2016 , in 5-6 months we got mail for an interview on June  ,we got positive answer and after three days we came to pick up the visa but we found out that our case is under AP ... After couple months of waiting we contact a Congressman ,you will have to wait for the answer couple days for a response. After that maybe month and half we got update and after update a call from embassy to do medical exam again because my old one expire and that is that my friend thank God ! No one cant feel what you feel now but be patient friends, don't lose the hope, God Bless you All !!!

Thanks for the wishes.. Can you tell me that did the CO keep your passport at the end of the interview? But when you were called to renew your medical.. Did you have your passport with you or embassy returned it to you for a new medical?

Yes, I been in 40 countries. I have couple of visas on my passport. I never been rejected visa for any country. I don’t know why they are making big deal this time. I got this form same day righ after interview. I sent them back to the same day. You are welcome 😊 I guess they have an issue with my name due to that i was in long AP my surname is khan. Otherwise it might be due to engineering I am  mechatronics and Robotics Engineer. I have very long and clean travel history. Did you try to ask embassy why your case is pending? What they respond you?

Yep it might be bcz of your name and your field of profession. But your AP is now in last stages as she was about to print your visa it means its around the corner. Yes i sent them numerous inquiries via email. They replied me with an automatically generated text that your case is in AP that cannot be expedited not waived etc. I think you travelled all those countries on visitor visa. Now its an immigration case this is why they are taking that much long.

I been in states back 2014. What i know about AP every case must get cleared from Washington D.C after that visa can be issue. I had B1/B2 visa back 2013. It was written on my U.S visa . (security clearance received : date)

some cases AP takes few days some takes more time but mostly cases cleared in a year. Perhaps you will have good news soon in next fee months. Good Luck 🍀

Ohh yes.. Did you get ds5535 questionnaire in email? Its about social media handles of the applicant and past travel history etc. Thank you so much for being so considerate. :)

    IA. I hope so ....

    first interview mid march 2017

    second interview mid march 2018

i think so they need to do new fingerprints if you were in pending in AP  for a year or more  .afterwards they do ask everything new or updated one.

What’s your education do u have sceience background?

It depends on CO how he/she take your case he/she has power to do everything with your case I believe 😊

Oh okay.. You have almost waited more than a year. I think you will get your visa soon InshaAllah in the end of april of beginning of may. My interview was on 20 sep 2017. CO approved it and he was satisfied.. He kept my passport and asked me to pick it after 4 days.. But it's been 7 months i have not heard anything good from them. Embassy sent me Ds5535 questionnaire back im November. After that i m in AP. Yes I have studied BS Hons in Environmental sciences. But it has nothing to do with any controversial technology. I was doing mphil in the same field but when CO approved my visa i left my studies after one year of completion. And now i am helpelessly sitting at home doing nothing but worrying about my visa day and night. My medical has expired but hopefully biometrics dont get expired that early.. Do pray for me as well

No not yet. Still waiting ....

I been in embassy for follow up an interview in back march 2018.I was asked new medical, New photos, New  DS 260 because last one was expired , joint sponsor recent tax returns, new police certificates, Actually they didn’t ask any questions about relationship in the interview, first she apologized I’m sorry it took a lot for us to process your visa.Afterwards, she just asked when my daughter will getting one year old. How quick I can travel ? I said as soon as i have visa in my hands . Furthermore, new finger prints and oaths were taken as well.

Consular officer said Please take a seat i call you in a bit . Meanwhile she was doing something on computer. She called me back 1hour and few minutes later. She said I cannot print your visa because your finger prints are not matching . I spoke in Washington our team will work to fix this issue I don’t know how long it will take . As soon as the problem is fixed i will print your visa. She also put hands on my file and said two times everything is ok . I am waiting since 24 days after second interview. My second medical will expire on 20th September 2018 and 20th of July 2018 two years will be over to our marriage ceremony. My visa category will change to IR1. What do you think ? What’s your opinion ?

It means you will get your visa soon. Surely before your second medical expires InshaAllah Dont worry. When was your first interview? And can u tell me when do these fingerprints expire? I thought only medical gets expired and they ask us to renew it and then issue visa. I didnt know that they again call people to embassy for new fingerprints and interview as well.

    Yes.

Hopefully evrything will be good.. Your medical is valid till 5 more months so there is a hope.. My medical has expired and passport is in embassy.. I am waiting when will they ask me to renew my medical and obviously they will return my passport as well bcz medical exam wont be done without passport.

For 5 years.. why it is taking so long?  Are there any complications in your case. Can they take so long if its spouse sponsoring. Really scared.

Actually my mother applied asylum in 2013 and she got her interview in 2016 and then approval in 2017 january.. 4 years later. Then she filed my petition in 2017 and i got interview here in pakistan in September 2017. VO approved my visa and kept passport. Passport is still in embassy. But it has been 7 months i have got no answer from them. Really very worried. Whats your visa category? Dont worry your case will be cleared soon.

righttt but I do not understand how you implied my crystal clear answer. How did you end up thinking that I was an asylee/refugee sponsored applicant? :)

I was very clear that I am under the category of unmarried children over 21 and this category can never be of an asylee/refugee sponsored applicant.

Thank you so much. I need it :)

Haha!! Sorry!! I read it as "unmarried children under 21" :D so i thought you are goiing as an immigrant asylee. Later i read it again and it was "over 21" so then i got you :) that your mother filed I-130 petition for you..not I-730. Your mom must have waited so much for you.. Good luck and congratultionsss..best days are yet to come InshaAllah

    Thank you very much.

    1. My mother sponsored me.

    2. The interview was not that great with CO but after some time I was called in another room where the supervisor was very good. He told me everything is good and just needed the documents. I was able to gather and send documents in around June 2016.

    3. It changed to Issued today.

    4. I am not sure yet, but probably New York City.

I can relate with you. I know what it feels like staying away from your mother for so long. I m away from my mother since 5 years. She is in USA. I hope this painful waiting ends soon for me as well.

  16. 32 minutes ago, StraightForward said:

Thanks. My mother sponsored me under the category of unmarried children over 21.

Oh.. I think my category is same as yours.. Is that v92? R u a derivative asylee? My mother is in USA as well. My interview went good VO approved my visa and kept passport as well but now case is in AP. I got Ds5535 in email in november. Did you get this form to fill?

  17. 1 hour ago, StraightForward said:

My interview was April 25, 2016.

2nd Medical was requested August 1st 2017 but after re-medical, fresh photos and fresh fingerprints/Oath, the case went back to AP.

3rd Medical was requested April 3rd and I sent it on April 6th. They received it on 10(because it was an update) and today on 13th, it shows issued.

Such a painful process ended today, Allah ka shukar hai.

Allah ka shukar you got it finally. You surely suffered a lot. Can u tell me after your first interview what did visa officer said to you? Did he approve it and kept your passport? VO kept my passport at the time of interview and it's been 7 months i m in AP. Whats your visa category?
