I will also be trying back every day now for a case number, although the rep told me "it takes up to 2 weeks to receive a case number" but w/e it looks like most people are getting it faster than that. So relieved it is at NVC at least.
 
Early Nov people I would call them now. I called at 8 am EST and they didn't have it, and called just now at 2:20 pm EST and they have mine. Call and check!!

They have our case as well. They said by Friday will have number. So close now to the end. Wish all waiting the best

hey guys...i have a good news for u all ...my case is received by nvc.i dont have a full information ...just gang up their call .will  update mu timeline soon.noa2 is 31st October...yippeeee... hopefully u all will get  your case numbers.ca them and try your luck..good luck.

In Ontario, where I live, it seems that you cannot get an original version of your long-form birth certificate. What they send you is a numbered, certified COPY of the original document, stating that it's a numbered, certified copy.
 
Please someone hold my hand and tell me this will suffice for their purposes because my government will not turn over the original, original document that my mother filled out...in her own handwriting that I recognized immediately when I saw the document... the day after I was born.  That will stay in their archives forever no matter what.
 
Geez! So many things to worry about it in this process.

That's the only two reasons I can think of as well.

Guys! After almost 2 months I finally have my NVC number assigned! It was assigned yesterday, December 18th. So:

NOA1 : May 15th 2017
NOA2: October 27th 2017
NVC Number assigned: December 18th 2017

I'm going to update my timeline right away!

got some good news, just got off the phone with NVC and they have received my case finally!!.
 
NOA2 is 10/27
as of thurs 12/14 it wasn't there, called today not expecting a change yet.
 
With all these delays we decided to have our "honeymoon" in Madrid at the end of Jan.  With the holidays we figured best case she would interview at the embassy early feb.

So I emailed NVC Research on Nov 30 for the first time. They got back to me telling me they received my email on Dec 6 and that they would look into where my petition is. Then on Dec 12 they said we contacted USCIS in regard to your petition and they said its on its way to the NVC.

Guys so my NOA2 was dated October 26 and it's nearly been 7 weeks and no case number yet. I did reach out to NVCResearch after 6 weeks was done, not sure if this is a good sign but today they e-mailed me back saying:

Not posted for a little bit now, been in the new NVC struggle...but wanted to share that we just spoke to them and they confirmed our number just now!!!! Our NOA2 date was 30th October so believe some movement is finally here for everyone who is waiting!!! YIPEEEEEE
