Mine only took three days. After two days we were able to schedule the appointment to pick it up. In Brazil it seems like most people take longer and get their visa in the mail (it seems to take a couple of weeks for many people), and I think it is much faster there if you pick it up (especially in the city where the consulate is). Good luck!

Hey guys! These past few weeks have been a joy! totally worth the year+ of waiting and crying and stress and overthinking! To those still waiting, don't give up! I cooked my hubby everything in the house like I said LOL and he made it in time for the family reunion where he met many generations on dad's side of the family. The flight was smooth and when he went through customs, they didn't even ask him anything, they just took the envelope typed some stuff in the back, stamped his passport and welcomed him to the US. He's been studing for driving, Permanent Residence Card and SSN Card should be here soon, and he's already been networking to begin working. (I'm so proud of my baby)
Many thanks to you all for the encouragement, information and advice, and the laughs! My hair would be lost without you! LOL! I'm so blessed that the moment that I prayed for, is here now! Wishing the same for everyone that is waiting!

Fellow VJers,
My interview was scheduled for 6:30am today. Arrived the embassy by 5:30am and went into the embassy by 6:30am.
3 consular officers were assinged to immigrants, the much talked about Asian American Guy,the Africa American lady and a white guy.
I was number1,was called first and interviewed by the white guy at 7:36am(GMT+1). The whole interview was less than 10mins and was out of the embassy by 7:47am.
Here are the particulars;
1. You are going to the US to join your husband?
2.You have been here before?
3. How long has your husband been in the US?
4. How long have you been married to him?
5. What are his hobbies?
6. How many times has he visited you?
7.What type of wedding did you both have and when was it?
8. What does he do in the US?
9. What did you both do when he visited last? This question made him go further from my response. One of the things i told him was that my husband always cooked for me when he's in Nigeria(which is also one of his hobbies)then he went ahead to ask what kind of meals did he cook,i told him our local dishes then he went ahead to ask what recipes and I told him egusi, ogbolo soup and pounded yam,he responded by telling me he loves egusi soup so much and at this time,I became more relaxed.
10. Asked for our wedding pictures and people in the pictures, asked for our pictures together prior to our wedding and finally he pronounced the magical words.. I'm going to approve your visa at this time, gave me 3papers for visa pick up,instructions for green card fee payment and my right as a Spouse of a USC against domestic violence.
Thanks to everyone. I truly appreciate your prayers and wishes.

Many congratulations to you @Abies
Alhamdulilah, my interview went really well. The Co was very nice and friendly. He did not ask for any financial documents. He looked at my birth and marriage certificate, wedding pics.
Questions:
Who's the sponsor?
How long have you been married?
What does your husband do (work)?
Where does your father in law work?
Where were you born?
Have you traveled outside Pakistan?
Why did you go to KSA?
What does your father do?
Does your husband live with his parents?
Then he said, to approve your visa I need new visa photos because your head covering is not showing your hair line and ears. I went back to the first building and got new photos. Went again to the embassy and was asked to submit pics at another window. That's it. I don't know what does this mean. My case status still says, "Ready".
Also, I was asked if I would like to have the interview in English or Urdu? I chose Urdu so there was a translator next to the interviewer. I could not understand some of his questions so ot was nice to have a translator but other than that I answered in English.

Thank you! I also wanted to give a few tips. First, I suggest printing out everything from your AOS, including tax documents, even though they will already have them. If they have a question about everything it will be easier for you to be able to point to it on the document you brought, and in addition the checklists on this site say you should bring that. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html For civil documents, don't forget to double check the country-specific guidelines on NVC's site. Second, I think someone yesterday mentioned that the sponsor is self-employed or owns a store. I think the I-864 instructions say you should bring the schedule Cs and Ds if you are self-employed so don't forgot those if they are relevant to you and you don't have a W2. Third, don't worry if your status changes to "administrative processing" right after a successful interview. Apparently this is normal and it can happen for a day or two before the status changes to issued. (Past posts said the same thing but I had to look around a bit to find them.) I would like to give a special shoutout to @Abies and @Ahmed&Freda, even though I think we haven't interacted much on these forums, because I can see that you guys have been through some setbacks but you have given so much of your time to help other people on these forums. I'm sure there are many people out there who appreciate you and who have never even posted here. Again, good luck to everyone and thank you again for all of your help! -

Congratulations! You can also try writing to your consulate to politely ask if they can reschedule it for something earlier, now that you have officially been scheduled. You can attach the documentation about your mother in law. It doesn't hurt to try. Good luck and all the best to your family and mother in law.

You're supposed to bring tax transcripts/returns and W2 if relevant to the interview, regardless of what you submitted before. It's in the interview document checklist for the embassies/consulates here. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html (Click on your embassy/consulate and when you get to the document, scroll down until you get to the checklist.) I found this site very helpful since I was never sent a checklist by my consulate.
Also, here it says that you are supposed to bring financial documents to the interview. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare.html
Good luck!

Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. My husband was approved today at the interview!
He said it was a very short process.
They asked only for his civil documents and the pictures of us.
He said the man interviewing him only asked 4 questions:
How did we meet?
When did we get married?
How many times have we seen each other?
Is my husband employed?
All in all his appointment was at 1pm and he was out and calling me with the news at 1:45.

Obrigada!!!

You need to bring originals of everything you submitted to NVC, and some other things too like proof of relationship and USC's US domicile, and probably some photocopies (well my consulate requires that). I have found this page very helpful. You can find the directions for your consulate. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/list-of-posts.html
Your consulate might also have a list of what is needed on its website if you want to check that as well to be extra sure.
Good luck!

Yes, but it wasn't scheduled by NVC but by the consulate (unusual circumstance). Pamela.J is in this group and I think she is going to update here when NVC schedules the Brazil NVC interviews. 🙂 Good luck!
