    Thank you so much!

Yay! Congratulations! Any advice? Did they interview you separately?

Thank you so much!! No they did the interview with both of us and asked questions like “when/where did you get married?” “How long have you been married?” “Where did you both meet?” and then a run through of current address, if we had kids and my birthday. It was really nerve wracking just because I always get nervous about huge stuff but the guy was nice and was trying to make conversation, that helped a bit. Just be honest and know your spouse and all will be well :)))

Hi! So my husband's interview is scheduled next month. The officer at the airport took his medical documents upon entering the US (he comPleted his medical in Manila on Oct 2018). I was wondering if he needs to complete a new medical for next month's interview? I do not know if they forwarded his medical document at the airport where they took it to the office where the interview will take place.

They should have the medical exam within government files. I do not believe you need to complete a new medical exam. Best of luck!!

  3. K-1 now doing AOS and are currently married, spouse is present.

So do we send the SSN application into the USCIS or is this something we tackle separate I presume? Also on the biometrics sheet wouldn't it be that we are filing for permanent residence NOT naturalization? I thought naturalization comes later?

Not true at all.  The GC process is federal, and state residency can be established in other ways.  All Alec needed at the DMV to prove residency was a copy of something *official* with his name and our mailing address.  In our case, we used our power bill.  I had him added to the bills for that reason.   Your state's DOL website should list exactly what he will need to show when applying for a DL.

    Awesome, thanks.

My husband was also allowed to drive while here in WA on his B-2, using a NZ license.  The point is that when someone relocates from a foreign country, they need to obtain a valid license within 30 days.

When you say he's not a resident of Oregon yet, do you mean he hasn't arrived there yet?

He has arrived and we are married. I was under the impression he isn't a true resident until he recieves the green card and we are actually approved..

So can we apply for an SSN even though the AOS is in transition? This is pretty confusing. Can you get a OR license without an SSN??

  6. Thanks everyone for the input I appreciate it. The plan was to file ASAP but I have a family member who is going to be a joint sponser and we don't live in close vicinity. She is not very computer savvy so in the unfortunate event she doesn't complete the Affidavit on time we might be late which I wanted to avoid.

So for my affidavit of support, do I need to have another formal letter from my employer or are several pay stubs enough?? Asking them again seems a little obnoxious but for my husband I'll do anything haha. And luckily my hubby has an international drivers license that doesn't expire anytime soon.

  7. Hey everyone,

K1 approved and Married 11/20/18 and his K1 visa is expired 12-12-18... Do we have to have all of the paperwork for AOS filled and sent in by then? Or is it more lenient because we are married now?

Also do I the petitioner have to submit another affidavit of support for the AOS or can I just submit supporting financial documents?

Did you make a nice binder/folder to make it presentable?

Also the medical exam was sent from husbands country to the US embassy, is this something that is accessible on their end?

    THANKS everyone.

How were you able to register with SA embassy for the interview time given by NVC? There is no live person on its hotline (SA). Please advise. When should you get medical exam 2 weeks before interview etc. Please advise.

We went to Official U.S. Department of State Visa Appointment Service then fill in a DS 160. Then you need to wait and keep checking online for an open appointment date. Once you got a date registered then inform the physician and they should give you a date for medical checkups. But two weeks should work fine if you can choose the date.

I don't know how they are changing I just assumed some things had changed since ur interview is at the beginning of the month as oppose to the end of the month...

Ohh I got you I got you, yeah idk but I so hope everything goes smoothly. I am trying to do research and figure out when Ehan can legally work over here. Apparently after the AOS unless we want to drop another $400 plus on an employment card that will probably take longer than its duration of purpose.
