Question in the affidavit of support :

my income is not enough to be a sponsor and my brother will do form I-864 for me as a joint sponsor, do i still need to submit form i-864 for me ?? Or only the one that my brother will fill as a joint sponsor is enough ??

if i will need to submit one as the petitioner, is it ok to put a low income that will not meet the requirements ??

if someone can explain clearly because iam really confused about this, Thanks

Yes your also need to fill i864 and joint sponsor also fill his own i864!!

You should write your income for last3 years either its meets the req or not..AND current income also..just give everything correct info on the i864 forms...

    Hey guys!

Where in heavens name do I go to check what dates NVC is working on to review documents submitted? I’m at my wits end looking. Original submission 9/18....losing my mind again...🤯🥴

On their website , it shows they are reviewing docs recieved on 23 aug .. .

    BUT

I hv seen few people whose docs reviewd abd accepted in very few days and even their submission date is after that they arr reviewing now.. Depends on the beneficiary country may be...we are before you .. Sep 10 we submitted ours but nothing yet..

Nothing yet...Still waiting. It seems like that the beneficiary's country is also a factor at NVC stage for them to approve the documents. I have seen people who got approved VERY quickly from different countries while people from India are waiting longer. I know @Rupi 's case took long time to get approved while @Sam17 (Sep 10) and me (Sep 13) from India are still waiting. I know this may not be true...but just an observation.

We will hear soon😑 ...Im also very disturbed with this wait...

Yes everything will be mailed. The amendment. Follow the forms instructions. If you choose to get a itin you gotta wait for that. Consult with a tax preparer if you don't understand it. Make sure they know what you needs to be done. On the 1040x you can write NRA in the beneficiary social security spot.

I didnt see NRA option in 1040x..

Okay.....Do they refund some money if we choose married filing separately,? Or should pay more..??

Idk if you need the itin or you can right NRA for your social security number it means non resident alien. I do know you could write NRA in place in the initial filing but you have to mail it in. e-file doesn't work for these tax filing.

Okay so after filing amended 1040x ...Should it be mail to irs and then ???

    @Sam17 @George George @Rupi

Read what happens when you file single as a married person.  It's recent.

It's fixable. You file an amendment to the taxes. Only problem you can't do is e file. It was supposed to be a paper filing when your spouse has no social security

Ahhhhh..... So how can my husband obtain ITIN# for filing amended return .bcz there is requirement for ssn!!!

That's definitely not the proper advise. If you're married you're supposed to either file married filing jointly or married filing separately.

Yes you can file without the person being in the states.

(Printing it out and writing NRA (non-resident alien))

Yes you can fix it by amending the filing.

Search the forums for those that got delayed on filing single while married.

It doesn't cause any problem as i see many people filled as single .. yeah u can use married filling seprately BUT in our case, our tax preparer said my husband cant bcz im not there in US... your right as well to add spouse on taxes....But he can amend later....

I got my DQ email today. It is currently showing our case going to Abu Dhabi, but we would like to now transfer the case to London. My husbands work contract ended in Dubai so he has moved back home. Does anyone have any experience with this? I filled out inquiry form with NVC once I knew they had the case and then was told I had to wait until I had case number for them to change embassies. Once I received case number I submitted another inquiry, but we never heard back. Didn't expect to get DQed so quickly, so now wondering if our best bet is to stick with Abu Dhabi or continue with trying to transfer.  Any help is appreciated!

    When did you submitted docs?

Proof of domicile If you completed Form I-864, I-864A, or I-864EZ and your mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the United States, but your country of domicile isthe United States, write an explanation and provide documentary evidence indicating how you meet the domicile requirement. Review our FAQs to learn more about domicile.

    Why its rejected??

I also send driver license as a domicile proof and passport also.

    Im worried now🤨
