Interesting that after my interview my case timelines shortened significantly. 

USCIS updated their processing time few days back and Seattle only moved 10 days ahead in 30 days 
It was processing Dec 15, 2016 as of August 31, 2017
It is now processing Dec 25, 2016 as of September 30, 2017
 
10 days of processing in a month!!! Really??

It's frustrating that the process is not uniform across USCIS field offices and is not always first-come first-serve also.

I'm a September filer and had my interview yesterday at the San Bernardino office here in California, which is a much smaller field office compared to the Los Angeles office. The IO made a comment that the day before she was doing July paper filings (not sure if IO meant interviews or reviews) and that today they all seemed to be online filers. That they, not sure if IO meant that field office or all USCIS offices, were trying to balance out paper and online applications. I didn't ask what makes the online move faster since I'm sure it varies by case but it seems like they are trying to get every application moving forward.

Yep, standard response for in line.  I asked two different questions by using the ELIS inbox, but got the same response as yours. They appear not to answer your specific question but just to tell you about current case status. 

Hello everyone! Last evening I was very surprised to get an email saying my husband's case has moved to the Interview and Testing stage as of Sept 29 and that we'll be getting a letter with the interview date. I didn't file online so will have to wait for it to come in the mail, but hopefully it won't be too long. This is all much faster than I was expecting. My husband is actually going out of the country until November 5 so hopefully it won't be scheduled TOO quickly (never thought I'd say that about USCIS) but seeing as, for other people, it seems about a month after notices are mailed out it should be fine.

Interview done earlier & passed! Just waiting for my oath letter. I waited for 2 hours but the interview itself only took 15 minutes. The IO was one of the nicest persons I've ever met throughout this whole immigration process. Just glad it's almost over. 

Yup, more detailed report on the progress of the adjudication progress obviously but not necessarily faster than other type of filers. However, I am happy today, for the first time in a very long time, something has moved a little bit, and I hope all of you get an update like this soon. 
Tell me about it about having two different emotions. The update today totally caught me off guard as my expectations were so low and they continue to be. Good luck, I am sure you will get your update at some point. You might get it tomorrow, who knows?

I know few February filers from Seattle who are still waiting for their N400 interview appointment to be scheduled.
Why can't they transfer some of the backlogs from Seattle, WA to Yakima, WA?
I've seen Yakima, WA N400 filers getting  processed super fast in VJ.
It is only about 2 hours drive from Seattle, and I think most people would be happy to do that drive if it meant faster processing...

i was hoping the process would be faster as it used to be.
Every case is different though.
 
i am filing with the 5 year rule because I didn’t want to deal with all the paperwork you need when you file with the 3 year rule.
 
Also I have never left the country since I got here on January 27 th 2009.
 
My son got his certificate of citizenship years ago due to his father being a born citizen so in my case that is out of the way too.
 
i hope for all of us that this is a speedy non complicated process.
if I do receive updates I will let you know.

I'm a July online filer.  I cannot comment on TX, but I know for NY, mine had a quick turnaround time between being in-line and my actual interview letter.  
 
My biometrics appointment  was 5 days before being moved "inline", and then I was inline for about 2 days before getting my PDF  interview letter with the actual date posted.  I was put inline for my Oath Ceremony and the physical letter mailed out the same day of my interview (my oath is later this month).
 
Generally, the NY offices are pretty backlogged too considering the sheer amount of applicants from that area....so I was extremely surprised at the turnaround time.   Another NY online filer from July has almost the same turnaround time---she filed a week after I did, and our interviews and oath ceremony are on the same day.
 
No one can say for sure whether online filing is faster than paper filing when it comes to being scheduled for interviews---depends on a lot of variable factors.  I do think that it is certainly picking up speed in how they process applications when first received.  You can see my complete timeline below in red.

I am yet to figure out if online filing is actually faster. I know that till biometrics it can be faster because of few days saved in mailing the application and waiting for the biometrics notice. Instead, the online filers have biometrics pdf uploaded, so they can print one from online and do a walk-in.
 
But after the biometrics is done and the case is in-line for the interview and sent to the field office, I'm not sure if it is any faster for interview scheduling. I think it depends on field office workload.
 
But then again, I am seeing online filers whose interview has been scheduled a lot faster even though the processing time for the field office says it is backlogged a lot (Example: Dallas, TX).
See the N-400 July Filers Thread of VJ for Dallas, TX. The online filers have their interview scheduled already.

 
Even, San Diego, office processing times when I check online says they are backlogged to January, but online filers like @IPv6Freely who filed in August have already gotten their interview letters.
