  1. Ah.... Sorry, missed the part that it was for your parents... I'll stop commenting at the wee hrs of the night; must have been too tired.

God bless you on your application either way...

Hi all Vietnamese friends. Since we all will have the same consulate (HCM). I would like to start this topic, so we all can share and help each other with NVC process also time frame.

I am petitioning my parents IR5 and still waiting for my case number at NVC so I can start the process. (NOA2 01/31/2018, NVC received 02/15/2018)

does anyone here recently get your case number from NVC?

    please share your experiences.

    thank for joining.

    Please visit this website https://sites.google.com/view/post-noa2/home

NVC typically issues the number shortly after receiving your case (in some cases, they can tell you the case number right when they receive the package from USCIS). Since it’s been like 4 weeks for you, I think it may be a good idea for you to call them. The website above gives you a best time to call from what I remember. You should also check out the spreadsheet link on the website and put your information in. From the spreadsheet, you will be able to know how long others are waiting as well.

Please be aware that there is a validity date on your NOA2. I think it may be best to be more proactive now to ensure your approval does not expire. I’ve been running around a lot to make sure all my T’s are crossed and my I’s are dotted. The stress won’t be able to compare to the joy of being finally together with my fiancee so I don’t mind going through a little more trouble/stress now.

God bless you on your journey...

    Hey Mayo.

When you receive packet 3 from the consulate they give you instructions on how to get it. I dont advise getting it before your case is ready at the consulate, once you have your NVC number you can track your case status.

It's really simple and easy tho. There is a form you get on this page:

    http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/businesses-and-organisations/vetting/vetting-process-visas?nondesktop

Click on "Section 14 overseas" fill out the form, scan and email back to them, at the bottom where it asks who is it for, say it's for US immigration, Auckland Consulate. I think its only valid for 3 months though. Mine was sent to the consulate the same day I emailed them to ask for it.

Yay for getting your NOA2!! Hope the rest goes super quick!

Thanks alot MarkMate for answering my post as well as my texts. That's very kind of you. ( even i just replied your message, I still think I should answer here too) ^^

  4. Hi folks,

My fiance and I have followed up this forum for a long time and just got our NOA2 two weeks ago. Congrats to all who got NOA2. Very happy for u guys. For those who haven't got your NOA 2, please don't lose your hope. It s coming soon. ^^

A quick question about New Zealand police check please. Basically,  I lived in New Zealand for about 5 years so obviously apart from my home country's police check, I have to apply for NZ one as well. However, all the information on the internet seems very vague and confusing to me. Is the one from Ministry of Justice fine ? or NZ police vetting ( I dunno if I'm eligible ) ? Which one I should apply for ?

Anyone here have done it before ?

    Very appreciated for any helps.

    Many thanks, Mayo

  5. I guess I'm replying to my reply, but the other question that you have is whether she will keep her maiden name or take on your last name. If she is taking on your last name, then it may actually be good to read this other site on the matter (as it recommends to wait until after marriage so you won't do this process twice. Case-by-case basis though; not sure if you're marrying closer to day 1 or day 90, plus everyone has their own unique road):

Keep digging before you act (This process is merely just started for you; it didn't end with your fiancée's arrival). Other people already went through this so learn from their experiences... I'm a July filer so hopefully I can learn from your experience soon. You seem to have been spared of some horror stories I've read recently so hope you continue going through this smoothly. Wish you the best...

  6. Wow.... I'm a July filer. I agree that the same way there are extremely good natured helpful people here, there are also some that are quite abrasive (nicest term I could find... Hahaha).

I'm not sure where this is all getting personal. But as we all wait... Let's take some time to try to be a better version of ourselves. Worse thing that can happen is going through this process and then getting a divorce because we mistreated our loved ones (the same way we are mistreating perfect strangers here). Divorce rate is at 50% so as in love as we all are, let's not fool ourselves and think it will never happen to us (I'm sure all divorced people can say they never thought they would get divorced either). So let's also work on making our respective marriages last no just starting them.

So let's all reflect on this and for those who think they are perfect... Please seek help for your delusions of grandeur, lol. I know this is stressful and finding other people not manage this stress well is annoying and angers us... But no comment in VJ is going to make your approval process faster nor slower... All comments are to be taken with a grain of salt (although some sugar, humor, positive comment, magic wands would be helpful here too, lol).

    God bless y'all.

  7. All I want at this point is for everything to get approved; The government can take as long as they want as long as they approve her visa, lol. This process almost feels like people are suspicious until proven innocent which stinks for all the real applications out there.

Anyways, I'm blessed that I'll be able to see my fiancee this weekend. I've told her that if there is one thing all this waiting has taught us is how much we should cherish the time we spend together, text, etc. Going through this minimizes any argument we have... I mean we are going through this JUST to be together... We keep reminding each other to put everything in God's hands as there is no better place to be (also keeps us from going insane, lol)... God bless y'all =)

I was so naive😅 We had been dreaming that I can be in USA till Christmas or maybe a little earlier (December 23 my mother in law will have birthday and I was thinking that this will be a great surprise to be there and spend this day together)

Now I understand (and accept) that our NOA-2 we can get not earlier January😔

Account for the worst case scenario. Remember that even if you got your noa2 by December, you still wouldn't make it by Christmas. You would have had to account for (1) the week it takes USCIS to send the info to the consulate, (2) your fiancée would have had to make the appointment with the consulate and, upon approval (crossing fingers and toes that we all get to that phase), (3) you would have had to wait another week for the consulate to send the passport back to your fiancée with the visa stamp. So if you expect to get noa2 in January, then seeing your significant other the following month is more realistic.

Look at the bright side... you can always push and aim for the next special date (Valentines?). Just don't put all your easter eggs in one holiday basket, remember you're dealing with a government agency... =/ (When we started our application in July, I think the noa2 process time was 2.5 to 3.5 months so I understand how you feel). All the best in your application process!

June Filers from my estimate, depending on things picking up to 700+ per week, your cases should start in 2-3 weeks.

Yes it is longer than expected. However, this week and next week supposed to be May's peak time.

July Filers should have a rather easy process however we cannot predict the effect of holidays.

Although there may be some case workers coming back from holidays with bunch of status updates (all fingers are crossed ladies and gentlemen)

     Now the numbers;

Virgin cases (As I'll be calling received cases from now on, cause why not? ) of April is going down slowly,

However, RFE's are moving way faster. But May has the weekly 70%, which is good for May filers, as most will finish eventually but awful for rest of us, for now.

AWESOME ANALYSIS! (spooked that this information is so public, but I guess this is empowering)

After taking a quick look at your data, I'm actually getting a bit more worried so hopefully I'm reading it incorrectly. As a July filer and according to the very helpful explanation of the data, the chart suggests that there are approx. 7,650 (950+3100+3600) applications filed ahead of me. The other chart posted tells me that 200-500 applications are reviewed per week (for the past 2 months at least). Although I'm also hoping this changes to between 700-1000+ applications, the monthly actuals suggest that 1400 applications per month (350/week) is the average. This would be equivalent to more than 5 months (1400*5) worth of applications in front of July filers.

I know that there is no exact math to this as the two months are usually being processed at the same time, but that still puts July filers 3-4 months away after already waiting 4 months (big UGH)...

I just remember other posts mentioning that USCIS places manpower depending on which applications are "most delayed" (ie. I-129F vs. other apps) so although I-129Fs are currently experiencing a shortage on manpower (or at least that's what it looks like), I would definitely feel more at ease to know how fast USCIS get these applications done. Do you happen to know (from 2016) how many applications were the most processed in a month? Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Wow... Very sorry to hear that... Agree with Mrs. Jackson. However, the good news is that it might not be worth expediting anyhow since May filers are now being looked at; I see a lot of approvals for late April (some early May) so noa2 should be coming soon for you.

Unfortunately, you still need to go through the rest of the process and, from what I've read people post about expediting, it seems to only expedite the time from noa1 to noa2 so it doesn't expedite consulate appointment, etc.

Hang in there and hope your dad can beat cancer... God knows this process is stressful enough...

  11. Yup... Police check is easy in VN. Make sure she asks for the right one (there is one specifically for this type of app... Im sure you can Google it). I haven't gotten the paystubs/employment verification letter as I want to provide them with latest info, but I'm filling out the electronic form this weekend so I can sign it as soon as it's needed.

We're saving daily screenshots of our text messages on a weekly basis in case proof of ongoing relationship since we submitted the app is needed as well... You can never be too prepared so just keep thinking what might make your app better. God bless you... =)

  12. If I were you, I would start preparing for the next step and try to always be one step ahead... In these cases being proactive is always better. Quizzing about consulate interview is too early for me... You will need to provide financial support information, get vaccinations, police checks, etc.... So understanding/completing those forms and gathering information for the interview are more important for me. I don't want to get caught receiving an approval and then running clueless like a chicken without a head to complete the next step of the process.

We are already waiting 5-7 months to complete this... Wouldn't want to be the one holding up my own application even longer... So if you're clueless on what the next steps are, well you just found out what to research for from now til noa2.

FYI... I went to two lawyers before finding out that they were giving me ill-advised information (one even charged me for his "advise"). Decided to apply on my own when I realized how little they knew.
