  1. Good to hear it wasn't a huge issue. Are we allowed to take bags and cell phones into the interview? I'm planning to take a bunch of thin file folders in a messenger bag.
  2. Congrats!! Did you have any trouble with the remote interview (headphones etc.)? And did you need to get stuff scanned by the assistant person?
  3. I would imagine they wouldn't let you take devices through security beyond your cell phone. I could also see someone getting upset if you start trying to unplug headphones from the set up...
  4. It might be a bit less hectic at 8-30am during your interview - I think I read elsewhere in this thread that it's least busy early in the morning. How are you feeling about having at 8-30am interview? I'm not a morning person so that part is not pleasant 😂
  5. Oh I see! Proper cubicles doesn't sound as bad -- at least you can't see everybody else. I was picturing something like this pic 😬 🙈 Thanks again for giving us so much info on what to expect!
  6. Wait, so your wife wasn't even in an office? Was she in a cubicle like those windows where people line up and have visa interviews side by side, and you can hear other people's responses? Because that sounds even more stressful that having a separate room/space where the interview is being conducted... 😕
  7. Thanks for providing so many details, and congrats to your wife for making it through the grueling process! It seems like maybe the virtual interviews are less pleasant than the in person ones. One thing I was wondering from your description -- when you said the officer requested materials during the interview and took them (like the tax transcript), how did your wife give them to him if he was remote? Was she supposed to operate a scanner or something? Also I'm guessing you didn't get to go in for her oath?
  8. Thanks for such a detailed breakdown! Congrats on passing the interview, and I'm sorry about your file. I hope the 90 days thing is just a cautious estimate and that you hear back soon.
  9. Good luck tomorrow, @PedroDaGr8 ! Come back and tell us how it went!
  10. Congrats and thanks for this breakdown!! You’re finally done!! Did you get a sense of whether guests were allowed in for the oath ceremony?
  11. Maybe we’ll find out how USCIS was able to schedule all of Sept through Dec filers in August. Maybe most of the interviews will be virtual with officers at other locations, I wonder
  12. Thanks!! I keep hearing that people with old biometrics can’t be scheduled for the oath the same day because they need to be “refreshed” or something. Glad to know that isn’t always the case!
  13. Congrats!!! When is the last time they took your actual biometrics? Wondering if people with biometrics that are 3+ years old can still get same day oaths (I did get a reuse notification).
  14. Yeah, it's definitely a bit confusing. Even though biometrics expire after 15 months, I get your point that if they say they're "reusing" the biometrics, then the biometrics shouldn't need to be refreshed. I also got an automatic "biometric reuse" notification when I filed. To attempt to answer the more nuanced question you're asking - I think they may only be "reusing" the biometrics at the point of filing, but then they still plan to collect new biometrics (or "refresh them") at the interview to produce the latest documents (when the biometrics are older than 15 months). So they're both reusing and refreshing. That's my theory anyway.
  15. I would say 50/50. I’m unclear how long it takes to refresh biometrics - some people say it takes a couple hours and others say they were told it would take a couple days. Good luck for your interview and please let us know what ends up happening! Does anyone else know how long it takes to refresh biometrics when they’re 2+ years old?
  16. Oh, if your biometrics were taken earlier this year and your interview is at 8am, I feel 95% confident that you’ll get a same day oath. I’m scheduled in the morning, but I have international travel scheduled in mid September. So that’s why I’m considering asking to postpone the oath so I can travel. But I’m also concerned because what if I get Covid or something while traveling and then can’t make it back to the US in time? I don’t know.
  17. Hah yeah, but I think you’ll probably be a citizen first since I might have to postpone my oath. Btw, when is the last time USCIS took your biometrics? I realized I think they took mine back in 2018, so they’ve definitely expired and may take more than a day to redo.
  18. I just got notified that my interview is scheduled!!! Sept 6. @arnab221 somehow it is before your date even though I filed two weeks after you. So confusing! Now to figure out how to change my travel plans because I am supposed to be out of the country...
  19. Nice! I'm next in line according to the sheet, but the USCIS online portal is still predicting 12 months when I log in 😬
  20. I think I've typically received the paper notice for every update within a week.
  21. I think you have a good shot at same day oath then. Some people in June in this thread say they had early morning oaths (I think AndyGT's wife was at like 730am). It'll really depend on whether they need to retake/reapprove biometrics and if they can do that in time. But since you have all day for that, I imagine that's positive...
  22. I've read extensively on VJ and in this thread about the Seattle office, and it seems like there's no pattern. Here are some of the things I've read from feedback from this year about Tukwila: 1. Some people say it looks like USCIS is doing oaths in small batches every hour 2. Some say they were given the oath 1:1 with the officer and then just waited for the certificate. 3. Some say there are 2/3 ceremonies around 2pm and 4pm, and that 2pm is the cut-off for a same day oath. So it seems no way of knowing for sure. What time is your interview?
  23. That's annoying. I might try a couple different browsers to see if something else works. I suppose you could call and speak to an officer, but it's probably best just to wait. Your date is probably on/after Sept 9 and before Sept 14 (the day people who heard back today are scheduled).
