Hello everyone,
How long did people wait to apply for their Social Security Number after entry? It says on VJ timeline to wait two weeks I wonder if really that's necessary?
Did you guys able ti get the ssn after applying right away? Or did u guys waited?

Sorry guys for so many questions. You all have been more than helpful and I greatly appreciate it. I wanted to know how long does it usually take to get the passport back via courier after the interview assuming all went well and there was no issues?
Fastest is 2-4 days. Depends on what day of the week you got approved. They can change your status at ceac same day or next day. And once your status says “issued” then expect to get an email from Montreal the next day or same day. And then Canada post the next day. Courier usually is an express next day service. So depends on where you live you can probably get it next business day. Its awesomely really fast.

No why would I? I129f form has nowhere to give that info for the Beneficiary only the Petitioner...There is nowhere for that info.
How does the embassy ever get the beneficiary's email other than the beneficiary contacting the embassy themselves?
This, by far has been the biggest issue that has racked my brain through this whole process with no one ever disclosing the answer.
There was a form that you can actually request to be informed thru email. I included it to my I-129F application before.
It was the form G-1145 e-notification form. Plus if you’ve signed up with uscis website before, they would have your email.
It may be too late now. But you can jut email MTL so they can get your email.

Can anyone elaborate how we get MTL to email Packet 3 to us rather than waiting for snail mail.
I updated our file with NVC with both our email addresses but I'm unsure if this will be still on file once it reaches MTL.
You can't call MTL so how do they get the beneficiary's email if we don't ask NVC to put it in our case file?
Just email them so they can register your email. But Montreal usually use emails to communicate. They will snail mail you but they email you first.
I don’t get it tho. So you never gave your email address to any of the forms?

On our way home from Montreal now. Atlast we are done. Just gonna wait for the passport next week. I will be with my fiance next month. Goodluck to everyone still waiting. It will all be worth it.

I had my interview in Montreal today and things went wrong.
The lady who interviewed me said I was totally approvable (documents were great and the interview went well), but the person who adjudicated my petition forgot to ‘tick a box’ on the petition and legally she cannot issue me the visa until that gets rectified, so she has to send the petition back down to California.
I had to fly all the way out from British Columbia just so they could tell me this??
She encouraged me to write the Consulate regularly for updates, and she labelled my case “extremely urgent” and she hopes USCIS will have it done pronto.
Has this his ever happened to anyone else? What the fudge???? Talk about bad luck.
Oh wow. Im so sorry to hear that. Just call uscis on monday and get updates every day. That’s a total bummer. I will call them like every freaking hour if i could. You’re so close. Other than the bump, how Was your interview?
-
Did you guys change the address for the letter of intent to marry? When we applied we addressed it to USCIS. Do i need to change it to montreal embassy?

It gives you the times in whatever time zone you're in, it's not the best system. We ran into multiple issues because of this, so when you're scheduling you basically have to translate the appt times into EST or whatever Toronto is in
Well we ended up just going by whatever i scheduled for my fiance haha. Thanks tho. We have our schedule for medical on May 10. And interview on May 25

Hi guys! I received my case# from NVC last week. I'm wondering... What's the advantage of submitting the ds160 right away (before being prompted to)? Does it speed things up or complicate things? From what I understand, it seems Montreal doesn't like if you skip ahead and do things before they say so (sending packet 3). Did I get this right?
Nothing really matters if you do it now. Just get it out of your way. But packet 3 you need to wait.

Hi guys! Forgive me if this has already been answered but I just wanted to double check and make sure the answer I get is the most up-to-date. I just received my case# from NVC. I called them and they gave it to me over the phone. They said they would send an email to myself and my fiance. What is the next step? I can file my DS160 now right? Or do I have to wait to hear something from Montreal Consulate first?
You can file ds-160. You can check your case number updates on ceac.Use the immigrant visa instead of Nonimmigrant.
And start gathering your packet 3 checklist. Then wait till you receive an email from Montreal asking for the packet 3 then send it

Why is Dr zatzman office set up appointment under pacific daylight time??? So i made an appointment and now instead having 730 it was 1030. And it does not even tell you when you’re booking.Wth.

Yay so we have packet 4 now. So my fiance had a previous account at the https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv/information/contact_us because she applied for a tourist visa before.
where do you get an interview from? What website?
-
So our case moved forward thank God.
Waiting for packet 4 by Monday.
@Kim & Zak How long is the validity of the medical? Did you guys set up your interview date yet?
-
We are on week 2 of waiting for packet 3. It’s frustrating honestly. I do want everything ti be done and hopefully get a spot on May. I’m really tempted to send the p3 again.

I have question regarding Vaccinations and medical.
I really thought the “medical” is when you receive any vaccinations you need.
But a friend said you need to do them outside first, get the proof/copy and take it with you on your medical.
Anyone who can verify?

I won't be able to
work has gotten way too busy..
Haven't you guys been waiting forever?? We waited almost exactly two weeks since our case said "ready", but we also annoyed them with emails before the fact
Yeaaah. Well technically, it’s gonna be two weeks on Tuesday . So i will be patient and wait. Have you checked any opening for June interview yet?

Just got back from Canada and I see I (or rather.. my fiance, but it came to my address) got something in the mail from Montreal.. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'll keep you all updated if it's the paper version of packet 4..
Medical is Tuesday/Wednesday and I messed up the appointment or something so lets hope it all works out lol, otherwise that's a flight down the drain..
And next time I see him, he'll be moving here, woo!
Aww. Good for you guys. Are you going with him for the interview?
Im still waiting for packet 3. Mygaad. How long did you wait again for it?

Im from Sask. I have made arrangements to have the medical and interview done in one trip. I booked a combo of airbnb/hotels (lots of cheap options on airbnb that are close walking distance to the medical building and where the interview will be held), I google mapped the areas and then compared them to the airbnb location. The medical receptionist was really great and worked with my interview date, didn't seem too difficult to arrange that. With cost of flights including almost a solid travel day including the connections, I just opted to stay the duration, wait to get my results and go to the interview then fly home on the late flight that day.
Your timeline seems so fast paced. Congratulations on that but did you ask them anything to expedite yours? Most of the people here are either still waiting for packet 3 to be sent or their nvc to show ready.

@KAF did you send in a Packet 3 anyways? Have you been able to get a hold of them to see what the hold up is?
I did once. But I received the automated answer. So now I am patiently waiting for it. Some VJ members got it between 2-3 wks so I guess all we have to do is wait.

Our NOA2 is dated March 15 2018.
NVC emailed us twice two weeks later on March 29 2018 to advise:
1) Our petition was approved; and2) "The U.S. Embassy in MONTREAL, CAN approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application."
(Note: Both emails contain the MTL number)DS-160 was completed the next day on March 30 2018.
Case has been "READY" on CEAC since April 3 2018.
I sent Packet 3 on April 8 2018 without receiving it from the Embassy (I had read some people say not to wait for the letter/email).
Embassy emailed me back on April 10 2018 basically saying just keep waiting, don't send Packet 3 again.
So here I am on April 12 2018, just waiting like a fool for someone to contact me.
Still waiting for packet 3 as well.
