  1. Hi Visa Journey, We are just getting ready to submit our I-175 and I am curious for some feedback.  We never notified DHS when we moved into our  most recent apartment back in April... as our permanent address (the address DHS has on file) has not changed.  All of our supporting documents show our current apartment address (which is different the permanent address USCIS has on file). Is this an issue??  We still receive mail at our permanent address it is just not the address that we live at??  Is it too late to notify DHS, will it mess up our petition for removal of condition? Should we still notify DHS?  I feel like we might look sketchy.... Any feedback would be great!

I am now at this same stage. Embassy is now processing our case but need to pay the $265 fee. It says we can pay through MPESA but there is no information on how to do that. My fiancé is Ugandan so he can't just easily get to a PostBank location in Nairobi. What did you guys end up doing?

Y'all just need to keep on checking the website once interview times are open you will be able to get an interview slot and then the MPesa document will be accessible to you.  Your partner from Uganda can then Go to Kampala and use mobile money and pay Nairobi through MPesa. Just keep checking the website for open interview date

  3. HI PEOPLE DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW LONG IT MIGHT TAKE FOR US TO BE ABLE TO G OUR APPOINTMENT BECAUSE IT SAYS WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL  THERE ARE  AVAILABLE DATES! . AND ALSO, WHEN I GO TO NAIROBI FOR THE INTERVIEW HOW LONG CAN BE ABLE TO STAY THERE ANY ADVICE ! FOR MEDICAL, VISA INTERVIEW AND THEM PICKING UP THE PASSPORT AFTER THE INTERVIEW

  4. Hi smart, supportive, and warrior visa journey friends.  My partner and I are tying to pay our Visa Fees and schedule an interview for our K1 visa through the Nairobi US embassy.  We are able to get as far as paying fees on their online system and are told there are no open interview appointments at this time.  We understand we have to wait until Nairobi opens up more appointments, but does anyone know if we are able to pay our Visa Fees prior to the embassy having open appointment times??? and if so how do we get a printed MRV form to pay our visa fees??  Thanks for any thoughts or advice on the matter, I have read through the past posts and am still feeling confused as nothing is from 2018!!!

Why don't you start by contacting Kampala? Generally it's true that once a case is sent to an embassy it is out of the hands of NVC or whoever is dealing with it from an admin perspective in the US. Now, you could stand your ground and insist that because NVC made the error that they should correct it, but surely your goal is to get it moved as quickly as possible rather than waste time insisting NVC do it ? If I were you I'd be in contact immediately with both Kampala and Nairobi explaining what happened and asking what you should do next to get the case moved as quickly as possible. You might even find that Kampala, which obviously knows it doesn't process K1s, is already in the process of transferring it to Nairobi. Good luck!

thank you I have already emailed Kampala and will make sure to email Nairobi now too!

  7. Hi August filers.....We were informed today after calling the NVC that our K1 Visa was sent to Kampala by error of the NVC as Kampala (Uganda) does not process K1 visas.  We had requested on our I-29F all for our information to be sent to Kenya which is the closet embassy to my fiancee that processes K1 Visas.  I am so sad as I know this will create a significant delay.

I was told at NVC that it was now my responsibility to contact the embassy in Kampala and request the NVC case be sent to Nairobi Kenya instead...

Does this make sense??  Any ideas on the best  plan of attack to get our NVC case to correct the embassy in the quickest time???

Case was sent to Kampala on 3.12.18

The interview was okay but the wait! Oh my. I got there at 6.30 but they only called my name at 8.46.

I still can't believe I was approved!!! They almost put me in Administrative Processing just cause I didn't have out chat transcripts. They had everything, emails, pictures! But they wanted the chat transcripts. So I told her to give me a few minutes to go get them. I came back with them and I was approved!!

The interview questions are normal. Like where did you meet? What website?  How much time you spent together? When did he propose? They're gonna ask a lot of questions about the petitioner so make sure he knows you like the back of his hand.

Otherwise they're all very polite. I was confortable with the counselor officer.

oh my goodness this is so very encouraging!  I have just finished reading your experience at medical too!  Thank you for being such a great "poster of your experience"  Do you have flights to the US yet??  Are you sooo very excited to come to see your partner?!

My partner was planing on coming to Kenya and staying with his friend and booking his medical about a week or two weeks prior to his interview date, does that make sense? is a week prior enough time?  It sounds like we should wait to fill out forms until CEAC status changes and hold of on DS160 until it states case number is no longer at NVC!!!!! or has been received in kenya!

    Congratulations again!

Eek I am so happy for you both!

  10. Hi All,  Does anyone know if my partner and I can begin filling out the DS160 (k1 Visa) while we wait for the NVC to mail our package to the US consult in Kenya.  NVC has assigned us a case number and stated they should be mailing our package off to Kenya today? (I will call NVC tonight to confirm it has been mailed)  We are trying to get as prepared as we can in order to schedule the earliest interview!  Any support on this topic would be so very much appreciated! or any info on the K1 process in Kenya as my partner is Ugandan and will be going to Kenya for interview med check and such!!

    Thanks Kara

God Bless Visa Journey and all the support and encouragement found here xo
