  1. We had our greencard interview but couldn't get anywhere because his medical expired due to long processing times. They said they will send an RFE but I am not hopeful that we will get the greencard soon. They didn't even ask any questions about our relationship in the interview. Just told us it takes 3 to 5 years after you apply for removal of conditions to process it. I dunno maybe we will have to move back to New Zealand. I can't deal with this anymore. It's too much

  2. Update.  We finally got my husband's EAD card in the mail.  It arrived yesterday.  USCIS worked real fast as soon as the Congressman got involved.  Funny that.  We call them 7 times and they can't do anything but everything is magically on it's way once the Congressman's office gets in touch.  So we are still waiting for my husband's SSN.  Hopefully that comes in the next couple days otherwise we'll have to get in touch with the Congressman's office again.  I am REALLY hopeful that the SSN comes soon as he still can't do anything without it.

  3. Our AOS receipt date was May 30th 2018.  On Friday February 8th our status changed to "Interview Cancelled".  Before that it was "Interview Is Ready to Be Scheduled".  We never got anything in the mail about an interview.  Today my husband got an email that they had taken some action on his case but the status still says "Interview Cancelled".  We don't have our EAD yet so it's vital that we get some action on either the EAD or the Greencard.  We contacted our Congressman about the EAD but haven't heard back on that yet.  I'm really confused as to why they cancelled an interview that was never scheduled?  It's been almost 9 months since we filed for the EAD now so things are getting really scary.  Does anyone know what this means when they have changed our AOS status to Interview Cancelled?

Honestly, you applied practically the same time as we did, yet I'm disgusted to read you are STILL waiting. I'm so sorry to read this. I've been keeping an eye to see if you were approved for EAD and sent it. Seems not. So infuriated for you. Any recent updates?????

We have been scheduled our GC interview already in under 7 months! Didn't expect that at all

Thank you for thinking of me. We still have nothing and when my husband called yesterday USCIS said that none of our inquiries about our case had been assigned to anyone. They said they would put through another inquiry and told him to wait another 15 days. We contacted the Congressman last Monday so hopefully something will come of that. This whole thing is wearing me down. I have a lot of regrets and guilt about moving back here because my husband is being treated so terribly. I was treated so much better in New Zealand. I just feel terrible.

  5. We still don't have our EAD and USCIS lied again when we called a week ago.  I have the information set up to contact my Congressman but I'm getting worried that USCIS will just give him a generic response and make us continue to wait.  We are now in month 8 of waiting.  After I contact the Congressman I think I will have to look into getting a lawyer.  So frustrating.  As far as the AOS interview, I have absolutely no hope that we will hear anything about that until at least a year has passed since we filed.  I don't know how so many other people already have their work permits when they filed at the same time or after us.   It doesn't make any sense.

  6. Our EAD status still says Case Received as of June 7th on the website.  The lady we talked to at Tier 1 said she would escalate the issue of them not updating anything but I doubt they'll even do that.  We will hit 7 months next Thursday.  Then I have to wait for the new Congressman to take office to submit a request through him.  I'll follow the ombudsman inquiry process after that.  I hope there isn't something wrong with our case that's causing them to hold it back for some reason.  This is really really frustrating.

  7. We called again and they told us to wait another 30 days and that our inquiry never even got assigned to anyone. They promised a reply to the case by today when we filed the inquiry. This was the third time we called. I am so over it. How hard is it to action something when they get reminded every couple weeks. I have had enough with being lied to. If anyone has any instructions on how to contact a Congress person that would be greatly appreciated.

Ow I have the same question too. My Status is still ready to be scheduled for an interview since October 23.  Im still on the waiting game😭

Hi @Ning_15.  Apologies for taking so long to get back you about the phone number to get to Tier 2.  You will want to call the customer service number at 1-800-375-5283 and then you'll follow the prompts to check on your status.  Use the selection that has you enter your Receipt number and check your status first.  It's a pain but it's how you get to talk to a real person.  After you hear the status from the automated guy it will ask you if you want to report a problem with your case.  That's how you talk to a person.  When you talk to tier 1 you need to let them know that your case is outside of processing time and they should then transfer you to tier 2.   I am also still waiting for my hubby's EAD and it's been very frustrating.  I hope you hear something soon!!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 180 days on the SPOT, my EAD & AP were FINALLY APPROVED! The ability of being able to be a real person in this country is the best Xmas gift I could have ever asked for!!!

Did you get an email or anything or did the letter just show up? I will probably scream hysterically at our mailbox if we finally get an approval letter lol. We haven't heard a peep but tier 2 promised a response to our inquiry by tomorrow.

You can apply for SSN when you just arrived

When we first got here and were applying for everything we didn't realize you could get an SSN with the I-94 because nobody told us about it.  It would have been helpful if the US embassy in New Zealand had mentioned that or if the officer at POE had given us instructions.  I still don't even know if Utah will even give out the SSN without the EAD since it sounds like some places are far less cooperative than others.  It would have been nice to know that was an option but we missed that opportunity due to so much uncertainty.  Doesn't help us much now though.  I wish the immigration offices would be more clear about what we can and can't do.   A lot of people are relying heavily on forums to get the information that they need.  Immigration should be providing clear instructions instead of leaving it up to us to guess.  I've just gotta throw my hands up in the air at this point.  There is nothing we can do now to make it go faster and we will just have to work around all the issues for Christmas.  I will call them again on the 14th of December and then again at the beginning of January.  If that doesn't get anywhere I'll have to contact my Congressman who has only just been elected in.  Maybe we will have some luck there.

  11. I feel like we have had the worst luck imaginable with this delay in the EAD. They should not be allowed to leave people lingering with no SSN and thus no license or bank account or acknowledgement that the USA accepts them as a human being. I am so frustrated and the best they can tell us when there has been no action on our case is that they have another 30 days to get to our case. I feel like they might as well have told me to f off when I called.

  12. So tier 2 told me we are only a few days out of processing time and that they would reply to our online inquiry on Dec 13th. So I got no information other than that they have a high volume of cases. That still doesn't explain why people who applied after us are already approved? We are getting treated worse now than when we applied for K1! I am super aggravated. I feel like it's more stressful on this end because of the massive financial impact. Especially since we lived together for 6 years in New Zealand so we luckily didn't have the stress of being apart during the K1. I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I can't handle the stress. I don't understand why they are doing this to people.

I am so disappointed. We filed in May for AOS and when the processing times went past our received date we filed an inquiry into why our case is taking so long. I check the USCIS website every day to see if anything new was going on and every day it says "Your inquiry has not been assigned to anyone". Today is the last day they have to respond to our inquiry and STILL, no one has been assigned to our inquiry. WTH is going on with these people?

They need to process your case ASAP. I would try calling them and demand to talk to tier 2. They are way out of processing time now. I hope you get your cards soon!
