The USCIS will send you a notification if you opted in for Text or Email alerts when it shifts your case to the Department of State.  For me it took exactly 7 days before USCIS did this.  Once it arrived to NVC it took another week before I was given steps and timelines and received correspondence from the NVC.  A case # and login was created shortly after.  I called to get my case # before it was emailed to me.  Typically this onboarding process takes 2-3 weeks in total from USCIS to NVC with Case Number; however some cases, although very few, have experienced greater gaps.   
Ah okay.  I wonder if each consulate is different then.  We shall see!  Thank you for answering. 

I read here in the forum that they said the do scheduling on the first and last week of the month. The last set of scheduling yesterday seems to be an exception. Im not sure. 
Your status will change to send to Department of State and an email will be sent. Keep checking your status.

Got an email from our immigration lawyer. She received our NOA2 today!! I was so excited that I forgot to ask what the date was, and of course, the USCIS
site has not updated our case status. Hoping that my wife (USC petitioner) will have received the letter in her mailbox, when she returns from a night of celebrating this evening. Our NOA1 is 07/11/17, will update timeline when I get the NOA2 deets

LOL! Unfortunately I don't think that counts...

Can I apply for humanitarian cause? Its inhumane to live with my mother-in-law! 

Thankful to god and all your prayers. The long wait is over! After 235 days at Texas Service Center, got NoA-2 today (NoA-2 date : 31st jan 2018). Tears of joy! :') 

We got our NOA2 letter in the mail today. Approved as of 01/30/2018. Texas Service Center (NOA1 07/14/2018). No RFE, no update online or information by email or text.

We received the letter of approval in the mail today. NOA1 07/14/2017 and NOA2 01/30/2018, Texas Service Center (no RFE, no update online or via email/text).

Just opened approval notice, they approved us on 25th, texas center, 18/7 priority date. So happy, i was already prepared for it to take longer and uscis customer service said to wait until april 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
