Did you get a letter from USCIS asking for this proof of payment? 

I was in similar situation but applying under 5 year rule and was not once asked to show proof of payment. And my husband did not have court order or anything like that but he sends check every month religiously as well and so I guess 2 ways to show this: one is to get notarized letter as someone already mentioned, two is to print all those cashed checks to his ex wife (my bank lets me do this online).  My husband always writes "child support for xyz month" on the memo so it's clear what that is for. I hope for your husband's sake he does write "child support" or something along this line on those checks.

If you apply under 5 year rule, they may not even ask you this ... just based on my personal experience anyways because now you're applying not based on marriage anymore .... worth to think about.

As an LPR, your father must live in the US to maintain his green card.  If you petition for him, there is no way for your father to avoid being separated from your sister for many years.

 

I am sorry to tell you this.  There is no good way here.   Your family will have to make hard choices.  The 7-8 years plus 1 year it takes for you to petition for your father is the least amount of waiting time.

A case for your father will be treated the same as every other case where a USC petitions for a parent.

When a USC petitions for a parent, there are no derivative beneficiaries allowed.  There are no exceptions.  Even babies that are completely dependent on a parent are not eligible.  

The current F2b wait time is 7-8 years for an LPR parent to petition an unmarried child over 21 years old.  Assume that it will take that long or longer for your LPR father to petition for your sister.

Thanks guys. Yeah I keep my expectation and hope pretty minimal.  My sister has a visitor visa for many many years. When my mom was alive, she and my sister visited us many times here in the US and stayed for months (always legally and always within the allowed time frame usually 6 months).  Her current visitor visa is good until 2022 and I know there were never any issues with renewing her visitor visas because she'd done this several times now.  Anyways, just trying to find a good way to do this with the least amount of waiting time.

I just became a US citizen a few weeks ago.  Now I want to at least start thinking about sponsoring my dad and my adult-unmarried-but mentally challenged sister.

Under normal circumstances, I think the preferred route will be me sponsoring my dad first, then he gets his green card, and then he can sponsor his daughter/my sister ... is that right? Instead of me sponsoring my sister separately which I heard can take up to 20 years!

However, our case is a bit special that my sister as I said above is 40 year old and she has mental disability.  She lives with my dad, depends on him financially and for everything really.  She can take care of herself, meaning doesn't need around the clock care but her mental capacity is like 7-8 year old.  I don't know if USCIS has special provision for cases like this? Does anyone have any experience? I know I probably will need to talk to a lawyer about this and I will - but just wondering if anyone here can share some stories or experience?

I just did mine last Friday. 

So I did not sign my form until I get there, but I knew some people around me did.  No one was really checking though.  The Immigration officer did say here're some pens, sign them and use this city (Philadelphia, PA - in my case) and date the signature that day (5/11/18) in my case.

I think you will be fine. Do not worry about it.  Enjoy it tomorrow, and congrats!

Mine took longer too. Send my N400 in July 2017. Biometric was done August 2017. Interview was April 2018. And Oath ceremony was 5/11/18. Took 10 months from start to finish...

Seems to me that online folks are moving sooo much faster!! I didn’t even know you could apply online until I sent my application package out!

I was in the same situation - with my case, the system was down and they couldn't pull out my biometric fingerprints online? Yeah go figure.  

Anyways, mine got resolved very quick in less than 2 weeks.  I got a call in this case to let me know to come in for the oath ceremony (which happens to be tomorrow!).  

I think it maybe time to make either InfoPass since it's almost past 90 days? Or - you can also tell your congressman? 

I know for a fact that Philadelphia Office is scheduling oath ceremony on Mondays and on Fridays.

The Immigration Officer on my case is an amazing human being who genuinely cares about me and my application - he's called me several times to update my status and last week when he called to finally inform me that my application was approved and he told me they're scheduling oath ceremony on Mondays and Fridays and I could pick what day work best for me.  

Anyways, happy to report that I am scheduled for my oath ceremony tomorrow :)! 

I filed N400 (I know it's different than your case) but my case is also handled by Philly's office.  

I started this in July 2017, and all in all - interview was in April 24th 2018 - Philly's office is super behind. That said, I have a super awesome IO agent who somehow managed to update me on my case status by calling my number 3x now - (long story short) ---

But i think Philly's office is just extremely slow - but there're good people in that building! Good luck to you!!!

1. Does anyone know how long the oath ceremony take at this local office? 
2. If you have experience having your oath ceremony here, will there be a separate room for guests and children?

Thanks! I actually was given the phone number of the IO agent due to some issues with my files not being at the local office in the past and fingerprint missing - so I asked him if they have any update on that - he told me my application was approved and asked me "when do you want to come for the oath ceremony?"
So that's how it went down haha! Very different than most people I know!!!!

Hi guys,

I had my N400 interview today for US Citizenship application.  Everything was fine, I passed all the tests. The only problem was that the IO agent could not locate my fingerprints in their database. I showed my the biometric appointment with stamp on it on last August.  He said, yeah I know you did it - I have that too but I just couldn't locate it here in the system.  So he said because of that I cannot recommend you for approval today and schedule you for the oath ceremony (apparently if I was recommended for approval, there's an oath ceremony this Friday ...). 

He said usually it'll take 2-3 days for the missing fingerprint to be resolved and they're not that busy (oath ceremony wise) so I should hear soon.  

He was very nice, he told me that he would personally look into this matter and he gave me his phone number and to call me in 3-4 weeks if I don't receive oath ceremony letter yet. 

Anyways, so I am bummed. But nothing I could have done differently I guess. So I left with this piece of paper saying that I passed all the tests but a decision cannot be made at this time :(...

Questions: has anyone ever experienced this? missing fingerprints in the database? it's only been 8 months (!!!) ha  since they took mine?

Quick update if anyone is following -

The interview went fine, passed all of the tests. He said I am recommending you for approval but unfortunately I cannot give you the approval check-mark because somehow I cannot locate your fingerprints in the database. I showed him my biometric appointment that got stamped back in August 2017, he said yeah I had that too but I just couldn't locate it in the database.  So he said, I cannot schedule you for oath ceremony until I have this. Bummer.  Anyways, he said he will personally look into this matter himself and make sure that it got resolved.  He said should be resolved within a week time frame and then they will schedule the oath ceremony and mail me the notice.  Anyways, bummer I guess but everything else was fine.  The IO guy was very nice and we had many things to talk about, he ended up telling me about his kids etc.  

Question: does anyone ever hear this issue? Missing fingerprints? 

I guess now wait for the oath ceremony letter ...

Hi guys,

Update - I went anyways to my appointment, waited for 20 mins before a manager/case supervisor called my name.  I went in his office and he explained to me what happened.

- There has been a major issue with USCIS mail tracking system, I guess it's recently installed in the last 2 weeks or so ....

- 70 applicants, including myself, are affected and these are applicants who are supposed to have some interviews or something here in Philly local office

- Essentially, our files were not delivered on time and they have been shipped from National Processing Center and are on track to arrive tomorrow (not today unfortunately because he did say if it got here today he would have interviewed me right there and then)

- He was VERY nice and apologetic, even asked me how far I came from and how long it took and if I had to take a day off from work, etc.  Obviously I was also very nice to him, which he then thanked me for being so understanding

- He then took my A#, my full name, my address as well as cell phone number, - wrote it all down in his notebook.  He told me he will personally look into my application and make sure it gets there in Philly office.  He also called his even higher supervisor to his office to ensure he was doing everything right and I guess to ensure that he is also looking into it.  

- He said he wanted everything to sort itself out for a few days, and he said either way whether there's an issue or no with my file (whether it makes it to Philly office or no), he will call me next Wednesday and let me whatever he finds out.  He did look up my file in his system and the system says it's en-route so should be there by end of this week but he wanted a few extra days just in case

- He did say that these 70 applicants will be re-scheduled for next month but  then told me that he would do whatever in his power to make sure I will be scheduled as soon as possible because all the trouble I had to go through today, went there for nothing.

I thanked him and I told him, please do call me on Wednesday next week and that I will be expecting a call from him! He said, you bet and that was it.

I have no idea if he would call me or not next week but I am 1/2 full glass kinda gal so I look forward for that. In the meantime, I guess back to waiting ....:)!

Thanks guys. I’m going anyways today... it’s probably going to be a waste if time but I’d rather do that than unsure about this and then keep thinking what ifs etc.

The IO agent did say in the voicemail that the reason for canceling was that they don’t have my file at the office location yet. She then mentioned that the file has been shipped (from where? That I don’t know) but it hasn’t arrived.

Makes me think that this wasn’t a background check issue. I’ll ask/confirm again today. I’ll update this thread ...

Thanks again guys. It’s out of my control so nothing I can do other than wait. Luckily my GC is good till 2023.😂😂😂

Hi, thanks for the advice. I’m thinking of going anyway tomorrow, it is about an hour drive from me, so it’s not bad. And I already am taking a personal day off anyways. 

My online status has been stuck and hasn’t been updated for a while, it was last updated in August 2017!

Guys.

I am so frustrated right now, and just want to scream so bad out of frustration.  I am supposed to have my N400 interview tomorrow at Philly's local office, and got a message this afternoon at my work phone (was at some meetings) and an IO agent from USCIS called and told me that my interview for tomorrow is cancelled because they don't have my files in their local office.  HUH? How could that even be possible?!?!?!  And she said, please don't come here tomorrow.

She also said my file has been shipped to their location but did not arrive yet at their location as of this afternoon so they had to cancel it because without the file, they cannot conduct the interview.  She then said I will receive a new interview notice in the mail within 30 business days ... OMG!? 

I called USCIS number, got to talk to tier 1 rep who knew nothing, asked to be transferred to tier 2 but she said all tier 2 officers do not receive transfer calls anymore at this time due to heavy traffic.  She did set up a call back request, but can take up to 3 business days. I'm gonna try to call again tomorrow morning at 8am when they just opened.

But, is this USCIS message legit? I thought USCIS don't give a call? I guess last minute cancellation? Maybe?

Thoughts folks?  has this ever happened to anyone? what kind of delay am I looking at now?
