If you want to meet with your wife, you are better off meeting in a country in which you don't need a visa.  Mexico also required a visa for Morocco, so Central America might be an option and lodging/food is rather cheap in comparison to Canada.

A Canadian tourist visa is much harder to get than an US tourist visa so I don't know why people apply for Canada thinking it will be easier. In addition, as others have mentioned, the countries share information so if you got denied from the US you will get denied from Canada.

By the way, if you have the means to go through with the trip, you should save evidence that you were together and keep it safe for the consulate interview. Others have mentioned that your consulate is a hard one so meeting with your USC partner will probably help your chances of getting the CR1 visa. Good luck!

Your visa ban in Canada has nothing to do with your US immigration process. Although it is true that we can see if someone has been refused a Canadian visa, we don't impose a fraud ineligibility for lying to another government. The misrepresentation must be made to a US government official.

Someone mentioned that this may negatively impact your credibility, I guess that's true. But if the relationship is legit I don't see it as a problem. Lots of applicants and petitioners do sketchy/immoral things.

You have ban as far as the US is concerned.

Your Canadian visa refusal would not be an issue, I assume that the US would know but it is not an issue for US Immigration.

The issue is the US and Canada share information about visa applicants. If you lied to try to obtain a tourist visa for Canada, why would a US CO believe you aren't lying to get the CR-1/IR-1 visa? That's a really tough sell, especially going through an embassy where it's not uncommon for a CO to suggest impropriety already.

If the goal is to live in the US, be prepared for a lot of scrutiny. You will need to provide significant evidence of a bona fide marriage, likely including more face-to-face time (in person, not video calls). It's going to be a very rough journey. Always be 100% honest moving forward. Good luck.

I don't think anyone can really say for sure if your 5 year ban from entry to Canada will effect the CR1 visa in the US. It is believed that Canada and the US do share information about visa applications, so your ban could become known if you do go through with any kind of visa to the US. If you are questioned about it, always tell the truth. As others have said, never lie or misrepresent any travel or visa application history, this could result in permanent bans. The Casablanca consulate is not an easy consulate to go through, especially for tourist visa, so your initial denial for the US visitor visa is not surprising, however it shouldn't effect future visa applications.

I am sure that I probably need to see a lawyer about this, but I thought it would help first to ask the forum.
My husband and I are getting ready to apply for a visa here and I have looked over the forms (I am American, he is not). There are questions that ask about criminal background, imprisonment, etc.
My husband has told me some things that happened in his past for which there is no criminal record. He was involved in a fight in which a man died. The man was part of a group which confronted
him when he was in a strange place with two female family members. He fought to protect his family and a man was killed. He went to court, but it was ruled self-defense. There is nothing on his
record about this....absolutely nothing. I know it only because he told me.
There are questions on the visa application that ask if you have ever been involved in a person dying, basically. Then there is room to explain.
We do not know how to handle this. It was not a crime of moral turpitude. It was self-defense. Nobody knows about it now except the people closest to him. If we say yes, won't it prejudice and complicate
his application? What are we supposed to say? Do we need to get a lawyer?
I have never lied on a form in my life, but I feel between a rock and a hard place.
If you can give any advice, please do.
