Any more updates for you guys?

Yes, applied March 2017 with pending I-751 (at that time , it was pending for 10 months).

I had interview last Monday. I passed the exam, however, no decision was made because the IO said he hadn't got a chance to review my files after he came back from leave. My field office is in ATL.

Any ideas how long it will usually take to receive a decision after the interview?

Is this for sure that the one year mark triggers next stage ? I am about 9 months waiting now, and tried out congressman, senator, 3 infopasses, several phone calls, all getting the response that it is within processing time of my local office, but congressman and senator and infopass told that it is in background check. Totally fed up of this , my spouse applied with me and got her citizenship long back

Well, like what OP says, around 90% cases would have been cleared at the one-year mark (me included). However, there is no "for sure" thing when it comes to USCIS. Since you're only at 9 months waiting now, I would keep waiting and see it gets cleared before one year mark if I were you. I don't think the inquires/senators/ombudsman will help with those that are only stuck for less than a year.

  3. The OP is right about the one-year wait!

Just the day before the 1 year anniversary of the USCIS receipt of N-400 application, my case has finally changed to "Testing and Interview". It was stuck in "fingerprint appointment was scheduled" for 12 months!!!

For those who are still waiting, just hang in there and you'll be cleared as it approaches to the 1 year mark.

Thanks to everyone and good luck to you all!

My priority date is March 22nd and the status of both my case and the cases around mine is still stuck in "Fingerprint Appointment Was Scheduled" (San Francisco office).

Would you recommend to start looking into immigration attorneys since it's the 1 year anniversary at this point? Can you recommend any good attorneys in San Francisco Bay Area?

    Thanks in advance.

Same here. My priority date is March 30, coming close.

This morning I got magical email update and my case is FINALLY "in line for interview" on Jan 25, 2018.:D

I revisited those 12 cases of 200 which was stuck in fingerprint stage. 10 case were changed to "in line for interview" today.

There are only 2 cases left in fingerprint stage of 200 cases now.

I guess my background check was done after 8 months.

Thanks for the update! I am stuck for even longer (My priority date is 03/31/2017).

I am just curious how you guys revisit the USCIS case numbers. Do you manually put in case numbers ONE BY ONE, or the case numbers could be processed in batch? TIA

Let me share with you this. I'm the original poster of this thread. Meaning I had been stuck in background/ name check for a long time just like you. I did research and tried a lot of things to push my case forward too. Unfortunately, nothing worked. It's hard to accept this but if you are stuck, that means you are stuck, you can't do anything until the FBI finish their job. I guarantee with you that no matter what you try, it's not gonna work, so don't waste your time.

Here is the truth, there are only 2 scenarios here:

    1. If you are stuck, and have not been stuck for a year (count from the date you submitted your application). So you are fine, nothing you can do but wait. Your case is gonna be automatically cleared when it approaches 1 year. This happened to most of cases ( > 90% )

    2. If you have been stuck for more than a year. Meaning you are so unlucky and having 2 options:

----- Continue waiting until the case cleared. Nothing guarantees when it occurs, normally 1.5 years to 8 years, or more, this is what a USCIS officer told me when I had my infopass.

----- Take your action: file a lawsuit against USCIS . This works most of the time and really push your case forward by forcing USCIS to pay attention to you. But this does cost money. According to people who recently filed the lawsuit, they spent around 3k upto 7k for a lawyer to do this.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I've been stuck in the background check for 8 months and very much agree what you said. We have got congressman/US representative/military to intervene and nothing works. What makes it worse is that I have I-751 pending as well. I really hope we will hear something by the end of the 1-year mark.

We are still waiting also. May have to call. We filed on May 12, and case was received May 15 2017. We've had no update since.

Me too. Have you already filed citizenship?

I did in March (which I regret later for filling before the adjudication of I-751) and it slowed down my I-751. So both of my applications (I-751 and N-400) are in limbo now.

  9. I am desperately waiting for my interview notice which seems to take forever to arrive.

Today the USPS informed delivery daily report says I have mail from USCIS. From the visible envelop window, it reads "Dear XXX (my name)". I have a bad feeling that the letter is just a response to my service request. Could anyone that has already received the interview notice take a look at the first line and see if it begins with "Dear ...."?

I know I will know what it is in a few hours, but I am just being very anxious now.

Hi! I received a notification that I am now in-line for the interview process and will receive a notice in the mail. No mail for scheduled interview yet so just waiting. Any progress on ya'll case?

    Thanks.

Glad to hear! You're one step closer.

I have not heard anything yet. Hope I will receive the in-line notice soon. May I ask which form of notification you have received?

    Thanks!

    Congratulations Nick79!

My case is still on FP appointment was scheduled. My FO is Omaha, NE and I gave my FP on 4/5. I did not hear anything after that and I did not see anyone from my FO in any of the forums. Do you have any suggestion, please? I could not find an opening to schedule an infopass.

    Thanks.

Try to get up at 6 am Eastern time and see if you can schedule an infopass. I was finally able to schedule mine at around 6 am.

  12. Yesterday I received the update from the previous USCIS service request:

Recently, you contacted us about the status of your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, filed on May 16th, 2016.  On March 30th, 2017, you also filed a Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.  Our records indicate that your Form I-751 and Form N-400 are currently pending and will be adjudicated at the same time.

Still they did not mention RFE. I am confused now.
