  1. It's been a while since I've posted here so I'm sure I have this in the wrong place.

When my stepkids moved here, their biological father wouldn't allow them to change their names.  Since then, he had changed his mind.  In the UK you can formally change your name via a Deed Poll which the passport office and all will accept.

If I have deed poll documentation indicating the kids names have changed, should I have issues when submitting documents with the new names to the USCIS.  I was hoping to do this when I apply to remove conditions in the next few months.

    Thank you!

Yes, there would be a piece of paper giving you instructions about what to do next.

Awesome!  LAST ONE, I promise.  Once you do the green card fee and all.. I've seen some people say the social security number happens auto-magically.. others say they had to go down to the office.  What was your experience?

The green card fee or immigrant fee (for spouse visas) is a USCIS fee. It has nothing to do with the embassy, visa, London, or the interview which are part of the Department of State. You can't pay it until you actually have a visa. You may pay it before going to the US or after you arrive. You will still be admitted as a permanent resident when you enter and your passport will be notated as such. That notation will allow you to go get a SSN, then driver license, and a job. BUT the actual plastic card will not be mailed to you in the states until USCIS receives your fee payment.

Here is the USCIS brochure about how to pay it https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/F4en.pdf

I guess my question is, we get a number we need to use to pay it. Does tha come with the visa packet?

firstly I didn't see you were a CR-1 visa applicant lol so I apologize for the information on it going to NON-IMMIGRANT. Yeah mine was ISSUED on a WED. I got the Tracking number on FRIDAY and delivery was the MONDAY. So maybe you'll get the tracking number MONDAY or TUESDAY for a WEDS or THURS delivery! CONGRATS

Where do you get the tracking number?  Assuming they email or text it to the number she provided during her interview?

Yeah. But as it was delivered the 15th March im sure its gonna be next week for you guys! I hope so! Yeah easter is only 2 days of bank holidays so thats not bad. all the best guys xxxxx

Visas went from AP to issued today!  What's next?  Should we get tracking with the courier or something?

thats what nvc and knightsbridge told me too. But then I asked again and they told me they didn't send the medical until the 26th Feb. So the dates randomly changed for no reason on my CEAC. Dont worry. Oh im sure the 22nd should be easy reachable . I hope for you all. I understand this process is the hardest to do and so frustrating as we never know whats happening .

So more or less you got your passport back ~ 3 weeks after you got your medical delivered?  That would put us the first week of April which is fine with me... even if we lose a day for Easter.

Yeah, They are a little slow if your medical isnt there before the interview. I went thru the same crazy scenario myself. Have you def asked that your medical was delivered that day? So yeah if its been a week, id give it 2-3 more as its easter break soon etc.

Yes. They did their interview March 14 and it was delivered March 15.  The date updated on all of them on the 15th indicating the receipt of the medicals (the NVC was able to look at the notes and confirm).

I'm just hoping we get them before April 22 as we're hoping for them to follow me home then.

does it say IMMIGRANT or NON-IMMIGRANT on the CEAC tracker? If it says NON IMMIGRANT id give it till Monday to update. If it says IMMIGRANT its a different story. For me I was Medical 13th FEB - INTERVIEW 21st FEB (Medical wasn't there) My Date changed the 22nd and 23rd. Then stayed on AP IMMIGRANT for just over 2 weeks. Then the 3rd Week it got processed .

    U.S. Department of State
    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
    Administrative Processing
At least it has already been a week.  So maybe 1-2 more.  That's great.

Was there any issues with your medical or your interview at all? they do state 2-3 weeks at the interview not sure if they said the same for you.

No issues. They stated 2 weeks at the interview.  Here's hoping we see something next week.

Well i was in AP on 9th after i'd had my interview (then it was the weekend), then the 12th they said my medical results was getting sent out the same day, by the 13th it updated to Application received and then by the 15th it was issued.

Well you're giving me hope though they've already had our medical results since the 15th so not quite the same timeline sadly.  Here is hoping for Weds!

Note: I just noticed 1/4 of the cases had an update date of today  *Crosses Fingers*

There has been an ongoing discussion of this in the UK forum recently with a medical not received by interview. One person's took more than two weeks from medical delivery to go to Issued on last Wednesday. After that it takes two days to be turned over to the courier and get the email. Because of the weekend, he did not get visa deliver until  today.

     Andydavies:

    2/13 Interview

    2/26 Medical delivered

    3/14 Visa Issued

    3/19 visa delivered

21 days from medical delivery to visa in hand

    Another one KandW:

    3/1 Medical delivered

3/2 Interview (medical not processed yet)

    3/12 Visa Issued

3/15  Visa picked up at depot

14 days from medical delivery to visa in hand.

It varies depending on how long it takes the officer to get back to your pending case. They don't necessarily work on it the date the medical is delivered.

Knowing that, we're probably looking ~April 1 before it shows up.

  13. My wife had her interview on Wednesday March 14 and our visas immediately went into administrative processing.  We were told the medicals were not delivered until March 15 at which point the update date on the visa status changed to March 15.

I am assuming the update was due to the medicals being scanned in.  Is this a safe assumption?  Also, about how long does it typically take for a visa to come out of administrative processing and to Ready/Issued status?  I've read anything from days to weeks.

I'm hoping that since the files were technically complete on Thursday the 15th that we will see something this week. Thank you!

That's fine! They want you to have minimum 5 business days in between to allow time for the results to get there, 2 - 3 weeks will be fine.

I ended up doing something similar. Because of the sheer number of interviews I needed to book same day, I have mine 5 weeks apart.
