My husband and I are completing his adjustment of status. Is employment verification letter required if you have 8 months of paystubs? I have a letter stating my position title, location, and salary when I got my promotion last month. It’s just not signed. Is this enough? They use the worknumber for employment verification and I don’t think that is adequate enough.

12-16 months to adjust status.
5-7 months to get your EAD/AP card
ur passport is all u need to travel within the US
Agreed with this. It took my wife about 7 months to get her Employment Authorization/Advance Parole combination card but only 10 months to get her Green Card (thank God our case was approved so quickly, we got lucky).

Hi, I sent in my 129F petition today to the Dallas, Texas Lockbox through USPS.
For U.S. Postal Service (USPS):
USCIS
P.O. Box 660151
Dallas, TX 75266I made a timeline but I couldn't fill much out as I only have the date I sent it, which is today. Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get approved? It also says VJ Member, which is me (Chicago) but country is UK where Sean is from. I dont get it.

Once you get your NOA1 and fill in more data in your timeline, you will get an estimated NOA2 date for your I-129F. Yes, you would leave it as the United Kingdom since your beneficiary is from the United Kingdom.

Hi Everyone! I'm new here, and I wanted to thank you all for all the information you share!
My fiancee and I just started the K1 process, and we know it's going to take a while and we need to be patient, but I'd like to ask how long it takes to receive the NOA1 Receipt.
Thank you!!

Congratulations.

Good afternoon VisaJourney folks,
My wife just recently passed her adjustment of status interview and her Green Card will be arriving in the mail. Once it arrives, will she now be able to get a new Social Security card without the "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" writing on top? And if yes, we just simply go to our local SSA office to request it?
Many thanks in advance!

The current instructions for the I-129F states:
"You must submit one color passport-style photograph of yourself and one color passport-style photograph of the
beneficiary taken within 30 days of filing this petition. The photos must have a white to off-white background, be
printed on thin paper with a glossy finish, and be unmounted and unretouched.
The color passport-style photos must be 2 by 2 inches. The photos must be in color with full face, frontal view on a
white to off-white background. Head height should measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches from top of hair to bottom of chin, and
eye height is between 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches from bottom of photo. Your head must be bare unless you are wearing
headwear as required by a religious denomination of which you are a member. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print
your name and A-Number (if any) on the back of the photo."
I believe you will need more in the future for other stages of your journey but for now, one for you and one for you fiancé/fiancée will suffice.

We are in the same boat. We live in Manhattan so moving out to our own place is out of the question and it works living with his mum, we will only have joint health insurance and joint savings account plus photos and my name being on the family phone plan. Let us know how it goes if you can
My wife passed her interview! I took exactly the evidence I mentioned in my first post above and it sufficed. Good luck to you guys.

Hi, so my wife and I got married on May 13 2019 and then filed the adjustment of status and employment authorization on May 22 2019. I was scheduled and had my fingerprints done on June 17 2019. How long will it be before I receive the employment authorization card?
It looks like at least 4-6 months currently.

My wife is waiting for her AOS interview. It says on the Case Status
"As of June 26, 2019, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number xxxx for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."How long is the normal wait time for the interview? Shall I call today get the general answers?
TIA RichardIt all depends, there is no real answer for how long the wait time will be. Some people wait weeks, some wait months and some even years. In my wife's case, it took about 3 months after it said "ready to schedule interview" for her to get adjustment of status interview date.

If you have no other document as proof of you both living at the same location -such as mail, brochures, memberships, etc.-, yes, get some sort of rental document from your parents.
I'll share with you what we used as evidence: joint documents on health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, bank account, credit card, tax return, a shared membership and two pages with 4 b/w pictures each -captioned with date and location-. That was it.
Wow, that is very similar to what I plan on using. I plan on using: joint health insurance, joint bank account, joint tax return, photos of us together and some documents that are addressed to the both of us that show our names and our address. I do have documents that show both of our names at the same address but we live with my parents so we don't have mortgage/rent documents. I should still get the rental document from my parents, right?

As stated previously, your evidence sounds like enough. Some couples have been approved with less.
They have a holistic approach, and take in account EVERYTHING, including your previous petition and evidence, the attitude and interaction during interview and how you answer the questions.
Yes, you are absolutely right. Would you bother bringing a rental agreement (as mentioned earlier)? Or do you think I should be okay with my compiled evidence?

I think you have a good variety of evidence. If you are really worried, just ask your parents to write up a simple rent agreement showing both names......and the arrangements you have.
I think my evidence should suffice, too! I never even thought about the rent agreement - should that be notarized? I wonder if they would send me a request for evidence for that (if for some reason my evidence didn't suffice). They can also see that she just received her Employment Authorization/Advance Parole combination card fairly recently so she couldn't really work or save money for a good portion of her time here. Hopefully, they will be understanding and realize that is why we couldn't really save money for own place thus far.

Hello to all,
My wife has her adjustment of status soon. She is adjusted from a K-1 visa. I believe I have covered everything I need according to their checklist they sent on the interview notice letter. The ONLY thing I am worried about are mortgage/rent documents. Basically, my wife and I live with my parents. We don't have any joint documents such as a mortgage or rent that show both of our names. We have a joint bank account and she is on my health insurance that I get from my job. That is about it. Will this be a big problem? We couldn't move into our own apartment or anything like that yet because she only received her Employment Authorization/Advance Parole combination card in May of 2019 so she wasn't even allowed to work most of the time she has been in this country. She also didn't speak English that well during her first 6-7 months here and I have been her translator this whole time (I am bilingual), so she wasn't ready to work anyways. I have our marriage certificate, I have all of our bank statements since the day she joined my bank account with both of our names, I have our joint health insurance documents, our H and R Block joint tax return (shows both of our names), some mail that is addressed to both of us, and photos of us together as our "proof" of marriage - that's it. No joint car/car insurance information, no joint rent/mortgage, or anything like that. Like I said, we have our own room (my bedroom) but we live in my parents' house. I help pay bills at home and contribute to groceries and other needs. What do you guys reckon? Please chime in, all comments and suggestions will be appreciated!
Regards!

Hi all, ive seen a lot of varying suggestions on how to answer part 3 question 38 of the i134 affidavit of support so wanted to ask for your input.
Firstly, iv read that this question doesnt actually apply to k1 visa applicants however leaving it blank could be misinterpreted by the consulate officer as a "not answered" question. Should we check the "i intend" box and state the following in part 7 "additional info":
"NA (K1 visa process for permanent residence"??
Would love to hear any input regarding what to write, especially from someone that has recently had their interview at the london embassy and been approved.
Also, as im using a joint sponsor (my fiancees sister), should she write the exact same as what my fiancee writes on hers, for the question (part 3 38 and part 7 additional info)
Thanks all

My and my fiance are getting ready to file the I-129F. I have been closely following the advise and guidelines found here as well as on other websites/forums/videos and just have a few questions:
The evidence we have submitted for having met the last 2 years is: 11 boarding passes. both passports with all stamps, 5 photos of us along with dates and locations. I can see that it is also possible to send extra evidence of an ongoing relationship- such as cards, text conversations. call logs etc but how necessary is this? I assumed this would be required later in the process but not now? If it is recommended then we will provide these.
Does it also matter if the cover letter is not typed? We have handwritten the entire form and extra information etc. I have been sure to write clearly and legibly.
Any feedback on this would be much appreciated
That sounds like more than enough evidence! The rest of the evidence such as conversations and call logs can be brought later at the embassy interview but you can submit it beforehand if you truly wish. I reckon handwriting should be fine as long as it is in black ink?

Just to check in regards to supporting documents for the I134, would it be necessary to have the original tax forms, W2 and payslips?
Thanks!

2018 tax transcripts are the latest ones available..............2019 taxes are not filed until 2020.
Ah yes, my mistake. I meant 2018. I should bring that with me, yes?

Okay, sounds good. And should I bring 2019 tax transcripts along as well?

Hello folks,
Today, I have a question about bringing an updated I-864 and I-485 to an adjustment of status interview. When we submitted my wife's initial adjustment of status package back in October of 2018, I had provided my 2018 income tax information and my current employment information for that time. Now, in addition to my regular job, I have an extra job (a second per diem job) so do I need to bring an updated I-864 with my 2019 income tax information (instead of 2018) and my new employment status/information? I know the I-485 has an Employment History section, as well, so should I do a completely new I-485 with my updated employment situation?
Thank you in advance!

@geowrian, I searched the link provided here for uscis approved interpreters but my fiancé’s language isn’t one among them. I guess my only option would be to use my sister as his interpreter then.
Where is the link for USCIS approved interpreters?
