  1. Check out all of your options for her based on price and coverage. She may still be eligible for affordable care act marketplace insurance. Call and find out. I found this post that explains and gives all the options for a spouse visa, now lawful permanent resident. Understanding the U.S. Health Insurance System

Also, check out private immigrant insurance. Immigrant insurance is very reasonably priced with good coverage. Here is good information on that. Immigrant Health Insurance- Select The Right Plan

or...reschedule after being told papers not ready..

then you need to reset MRV number(visa payment receipt)  which can take 1 to 3 weeks..it took 1 week for our K-1 and 3 weeks for our K-2

Best advice, make sure that items are at Embassy and ready to interview before making your appointment.  lesson learned..

The reset MRV number is only if you have to reschedule correct?

Now that the "letter" is sent by email and not PhilPost I am sure more are receiving it.   Just the same, not everyone knows to check their SPAM filters for it.

I still think that watching CEAC status to change to READY (for interview) should be good enough.

As for the Eligibility Letter itself, I have a copy of it available on my website ;)    It is a form letter so nothing exciting there, only potential snag would be if the embassy ever started requiring a copy of their email with the FROM and TO headers.

Or if they in the future require to bring the exact email/letter or if they bar code it.

There were two cases lately where I had heard the same thing ... embassy is cracking down.  ;)      Guess ROCK n ROLL time isn't going to happen so quickly in the future.

I would think once a person sees ready status on CEAC they would be fine without waiting for an email/letter from the embassy.    Boy if they said we needed the eligibility letter before scheduling the interview back when they mailed them my wife would still be waiting for her interview.

I can see them requiring that you wait until "Ready" to make the appointment. However, how do you know when to make the appointment if you do not know when you will receive the letter/email? That will be confusing.

  5. Just to let everyone know that I have been seeing just recently that the US Embassy Manila has been contacting K-1's by email if they have an interview scheduled before they get their packet of instruction. The embassy says in the email that they should reschedule for after they get their instructions. However, they don't say that you have to do it. This is a new thing I see happening just recently. Seen it in a few cases in my Facebook visa discussion group. Before, many people would attend their interview before even they get their packet as they know from sites like this, Facebook visa groups, others web pages and friends what to bring. In addition, the embassy provides a list on their website.

My fiance will be coming from Philippines.

The I-129F form that I have will expire on 08/31/2018. I have everything filled out and was planning to mail it in on 08/27/2018. Will it still be accepted?

I also went to the USCIS website and checked for new forms but the only ones available still expire on 08/31/2018. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been having problems with passport photos. As of now my fiance is an ofw in Saudi so she can't get passport photos made. I've downloaded an app for passport photos and attempted to print them out at wallgreens, but they have all come out with blue/grayish shadow smearing in the background. We've been trying so many times.

    Thanks for reading.

That is still the most current for until a new one comes out to replace it. Have not seen or heard of an update yet. Therefore, get it in while you  can. On the passport photo, she cannot go to a passport photo place like at a mall or something. These people don't give her any time off or freedom at all?

  8. You may want to have a joint or co sponsor especially if you will not be taking the UK job with you to the United States. They look at past income, but also look at current and future income. However, yes show your past income and assets.

You  as primary sponsor and petitioner only do an I-864.

Your joint or co sponsor submits I-864 or I-864A depending on the situation. If the sponsor will live in the same household as you and is a close relative, then they do I-864A and can combine income with you. If the sposor is not in the same household as you, then the sponsor does I-864.

See this post, Which I 864 Form Should You Use, as it explains it in great detail.

    Good luck.

    Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions about this process. Our I-130 was approved and we have our case number. My wife and I live here in the Philippines together.

    1. Will we both be allowed to attend the interview at the US embassy in Manila?

    2. Will I submit the I-864 Form and supporting documents at the time of the interview?

    3. Where can I find a list of documents required for the interview?

    Many Thanks,

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes. USEM allows you to attend the interview with her. For spouse visas that is every window including consul interview window.

    2. Yes. She submits the I-864 and financial documents at the embassy interview.

    3. When you get a confirmation of the interview, they will also give you a list of requirements to bring. Here is another site that lists the documents to bring for in this DCF Philippines Embassy Phase post.

    Good Luck.

ONCE your status on CEAC shows READY, and your case file is at the embassy you CAN reschedule to an earlier date, if there are openings.

    Earlier Appointment Scheduling
If you case file is already at USEM, you could schedule an earlier interview appointment.

"Immigrant Visa applicants who already have an interview appointment scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC) should refrain from scheduling an earlier appointment through the Visa Information and Appointment Service Center without first checking to make sure Embassy Manila has the physical case file.
While we are happy to accommodate earlier appointments, we are only able to do so when we have already received the physical case file from the NVC. When the physical case file is either still with the NVC or in transit to Embassy Manila, we are unable to grant earlier appointment dates. This is because we need the physical case file to conduct an effective visa interview."

    Scheduling the Interview:
    By Calling (632) 976-8500, (632) 976-8501 or (632) 976-8502.
This service is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except on Philippine and U.S. holidays. Callers may speak with an English-, Tagalog-, Ilocano-, or Cebuano-speaking operator.
Applicants, agents or petitioners calling from the United States may also use this service by calling (703) 520-2235.

Also, remember that the number of times that you can reschedule is limited. "Applicants are only allowed to reschedule twice (not including the initial appointment) without penalty. If the second rescheduling attempt is canceled, an applicant will only be allowed to reschedule a new date after a waiting period of 90 days. Please plan your visa application accordingly to avoid problems securing an interview appointment."  This includes any rescheduling needed for medical issues or delays or rescheduing from not having all required police clearances yet.

    Thank you Hank.

No I didn't do a ROB and obtain a Philippine passport- I was hoping to do this while in the Philippines. (Is this possible?)

No special requirements needed for the BB stamp?

Just make sure that you are all in the same line together going through immigration on entry to the Philippines. Your wife with her Filipino passport is your  and baby ticket to a BB stamp. You also can get a BB stamp as her husband. I have received BB stamps on my entries with my wife. Just go through non-filipino immigration line all together. Bring birth certificate for your child and US passport. You need US passport. Marriage certificate if her last name does not match yours on her and your passports. Have your wife bring Filipino passport. Also, she will need her green card to get back into US and to show to Philippine travel tax so she does not need to pay travel tax fee on exit.
