Hello Team. Finally We came to end of our USCIS Journey. Like everyone, we applied ROC Last year and since then we did not see much update, Therefore , we applied N-400 for Naturalization on June6th. After Citizenship application, everything started to move super fast. We got our interview notice for citizenship for August 16.  We were little worried for possible delay because of our ROC application. But everything went very smooth and we did combo interview and got apporoved for 10 year green card and citizenship at the same time. Sharing our experience and timeline to encourage people to apply citizenship.

They didn't ask my husband anything like that.  They did ask him the questions that he already answered on the N400, like if he has ever been a member of a terrorist organization or communist party, etc.

We got his letter for his oath ceremony on July 9 and it was scheduled for July 22.  We went to it last week and he was in there for about 30-45 minutes.  He said it took longer to check people in than it did for the actual ceremony.  I was not able to enter (covid protocols still in place) so I was sad about that, but glad that we have this all behind us.

    Congratulations

My husband had his interview today. It was super quick, maybe 10-15 minutes at most. We are the Louisville field office. They asked him:

    Who was president during WW1?

How many justices on the Supreme Court?

Where is the Statue of Liberty?

Name 3 of the 13 original colonies

    Who signs bills into law?

Name one of the tribes of American/Native Indians.

He had to read: How many US senators are there.
He had to write: There are one hundred US Senators.

Hope that helps ease your minds that it can be quick and easy! He will hear in a few weeks about when his oath ceremony is.

The only downside was that I couldn’t go in with him because of Covid. Only people with appts can enter 😩

    Good luck everyone!

Do they also ask if you know the meaning of some word on N400 form? E.g genocide etc?

I filed in April and have my interview in July (Tampa).  I didn’t get the letter until the next week but when I logged into USCIS, the date showed there immediately after I got ‘we have taken action on your account’ email.

So you received the letter 1 week after that action taken email. And then  then the interview is scheduled the mext month is that it?

That’s pretty much it, I did include my spouses passport as well as birth certificate- just because. When adding supporting it documents it asks to prove marriage so also include any leases or home ownership paperwork. I added a years worth of statements for one bank and 6 months for another plus any joint savings we have. I included insurances (home, medical, any beneficiaries) and joint car ownership/car insurances. Then in the extra documents I added bills from 2018-2021 in our names. Obviously you both can’t be on everything so I added various ones showing we lives together at each place. Since last year we moved into his parents house to save for our own house so I got his mom to write an affidavit plus proved we are paying expenses to her.

It’s pretty straight forward once you have everything together. You can also take more stuff to the interview.

Thank you Sarah, on filing online do we use pdf files? Sorry too much question

With the window opening up for many of us within the next few weeks... I have one (maybe silly) question: does the window close? Do we have to submit within the 90 day window or is it just open now for us to apply at any point? Or do we have to wait for the 5 year if we miss the 3 year?

This is actually a good question, never thought of that. I believe that you can file as early as 3 years as an option for those who are married to US citizen which is an advantage/privilege whatever. 5 years if tou want to apply for self petition naturalization
