  1. Well after 5 moths of being here (and 4 months of marriage), my foreign fiancé-now-husband is adjusting well to the country. He attends English classes(Free) and got his drivers license. I had him make a "Meetup.com" account so he can start getting out regularly to meet native speakers and practice English. We went skiing a few times and still trying to find  social circles where he feels comfortable. I'm noticing he likes to hang out with other native Russian-speakers (his native tongue) but the English classes have improved his English tremendously so he can converse a lot more with Americans.

  2. This is such a great topic! So because I am working full time plus part time job plus full time grad school, I essentially asked my fiancé to "take care of me and the apartment/home" for the first season in our marriage or until he gets his work permit. He is a great cook so I figure if he has responsibilities around the home, grocery shop, cook for us, and manage our budget, he will not feel so useless while he waits for work permit. He also is a hair guy- barber for men. I'm hoping he will also cut and style my hair . He likes my hair a certain way and fantasies about styling it. I'm hoping these ways of "taking care of me" will elevate his dignity while I slave to bring home the big bucks.

he also loves to dance so I'm surprising him with tango dance classes, which will last for 3-4 months.

I am also thinking we will need to buy him a bike so we can bike together and I'm going to try to get him to be a a volunteer at the museum of Russian Art in my city once every few weeks for exhibits so he can feel a little more connected to his culture as he gets to know other workers there.

Lastly, my hope is he will find community on the tiny Russian Orthodox Church in my town. I go to the Greek Orthodox Church but am willing to visit a church of his preference so he can feel more at home.

  3. I have a similar problem- would like guidance from those w experience. My fiancé just had his medical exam. Med personnel said "there is something on your lung X-rays." Fiancé followed up

At his own clinic and got X-rays. His clinic said he has a lipoma (benign) and can be surgically removed. I don't know what to think. Does this mean he won't pass the interview?

what criteria do they use at medical exam time to determine if fiancé should or should not be given visa?

I make twice above poverty line (64k) but I myself don't have insurance (declined through employer) but can purchase insurance anytime or when change of "civil status" that is marriage or pregnancy .

    any advice?

I want the lipoma removed in the states so I can be near him but it will be much cheaper to do in his home country - not sure if that has to be done before interview

    Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and I hope I can get some answers/moral support here :)

My fiancé applied for my K1 visa and sent in the I-129F in February, and he got the receipt that the case was received Feb 28th. And now we have been waiting and I have been following the current service center processing times from this website and checking our case status every day for the past few weeks since the website claimed they were getting closer to the date of our case. In middle of last week they were processing feb 28th but still no change in case status. So my fiancé called USCIS today to ask them about the case status and they tell him our case was forwarded from Texas service center to California (we had no idea about that) and that California is currently processing December 15th!!! :S Which means still 2-3 months of waiting until they finally get to our case.

So apparently the processing times this website is showing are waaaayyy off. And I'm pissed about that obviously, getting my hopes up and all that..

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/index.php?cfl=0 - this is the website I checked to see the processing times.

But the guy on the phone then said that when they finally get to our case that there isn't much of a wait after that until I schedule my interview at the embassy... Which I think is weird since according to a timeline flowchart from this website they give about 10 weeks from NOA2 until embassy interview... or is that bullshit too?

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

So yeah.. kinda sad and depressed right now, had been hoping to have my visa approved in end of August and to be moving in middle/end of september.. but seems like it's gonna be much later than that.

    - Iris

    Iris,

    our NOA1 was 2/10/17

NOA2 was 5/5/17 (80+ days), also processed by California center. Avg is 90-115 days. We got lucky with a just wee bit shorter wait. So don't panic. Start reading feb/March filers forum and you'll see where you are at in comparison to others. You are about a month behind our time table.

My my finace just went through his physical exam. We hope to get the interview first week in July. So I hope to have him here in early August.

Oh I know you aren't, and I agree!

Here is a suggestion to EVERYONE: when you call NVC about yo case status, be a) super kind & pleasant, b) ask your questions, c) after your questions ask "what is it like to work at NVC? Do they treat you well?" If reply is negative, ask " what can I do as a customer of NVC to help improve your working conditions?" If we all do it, maybe we can make a change in not only their attitude towards us callers but also change that agency by filing complaints to appropriate department .

Does anyone know if online gaming counts as a dating service or causes problems?

No it is not "dating service". Meeting people through online games is becoming common. Just be sure to specify WHAT game and  when in your I-129 packet and to the consular at interview if asked. Most consulate are old school and don't always keep up with technology/trends of young people.

28 days is nothing. You'd definitely better learn some patience you have a long way to go!

Good luck!!! Most RFE'S for k1 are little things missing a box or a form somewhere.

Got our noa2 in about 90 days last week . Expect at least some kind of a longer wait period. No RFE's. Triple checked application and "front loaded" it heavy, organized w cover letter to make it easy for review for the USCIS officer.

so my 2016 wont show what i make now thats the problem,

and i dont have a w2 for this job since i startrd end of january, should i provide my w2 foe the two previous jobs i had?

I would include a letter with your I-134 explain that you recently graduated or what not and that your income is now above poverty line. I had my employer's write a "beefy" letter telling them that even tho my position is temporary (not to exceed appointment beyond fall  2018), that other funds are being secured for further employment for me w the company, etc.

the consulate just needs to know A) you are above poverty line (for you and your beneficiary) and B) the beneficiary will not be a burden on taxpayers should the marriage go wrong (divorce court) or that you can support the individual w enough alimony that they won't need to file for food stamps. Essentially that's what they are looking for.  They understand that young people, fresh out of college and in love, have lower income . Just explain your situation in letter.

where does it state you need tax transcript going back 3 years?

    thx :)

When did "evidence of petitioners domicile "

appear? Is this requires for all embassies?

    Isnt a w-2 from

an employer or a tax return showing the address sufficient for "evidence" and a voting record/Deivers license wouldn't be necessary as "evidence"?

We weren't in this situation, so I have no idea.  My advice is to search on the VJ forum to see if someone else has had this question (I'm sure lots of other people have been in the same situation).  If you can't find any relevant threads, I would start a thread with that question.  I am sure lots of members here have great advice to give you! :)  Best of luck with the whole process!  Once you get your NOA2, you are really so close to being done.

I have a similar situation. Previous 2 tax returns (2014,2015) I barely made above poverty line because I was in school. In 2016 graduates, moved to a different state, and have 2 employees (full time + part time).

For our I 134 I'm just sent in my fiancé the return for 2016 tax year as I made 1000% more and also have the two current employers write me letters stating my annual pay rate, position  description, and if permanent. Both of my positions by the way (both in government; one federal, one state level) are temporary appointments  because they are funds-dependent. But I'mnot too worried about it. Both of my employers indicated on letters "there are plenty of funds available for the position beyond employment appointment".

Also included bank statement with total cash deposits in for last year, current balance, and when account wa a opened.

We wondered the same thing.  Here is what we did after we got our NOA2:

    1) Two weeks after our NOA2 was approved, I started calling the NVC every day.  It usually took between 15-30 minutes to get through.  Here is what I did:

    • Phone number: 603-334-0700.
    • If it goes straight to voice recording, it means that the lines are busy.  Hang up right away.
    • If it rings once and then goes to a voice recording, it means they will take your call.  You will hear a voice recording with a woman.  As soon as she starts talking, press 1.
    • You will be directed to a voice recording with a man.  As soon as he starts talking, press 7.
    • You will be put on hold.
    • When an employee answers, they will ask you for your case number.  Tell them that you don't have a case number yet, but you have your USCIS receipt number.  This was my standard line: "My fiancé and I applied for a k-1 visa.  We received our I-797 (Notice of Action 2) from the California Service Center on February 16, 2017.  W are calling to see if the California Service Center has forwarded our case."
    • The employee will enter your case number into their system.  If the case has not been forwarded, they will tell you to call back again in a few days.
    • If the case has been forwarded, they will ask you for your full name and date of birth and your fiancé's full name and date of birth.  Then they will give you your case number (important) and your invoice number (which they said was important but we never used).

    2) After you have your case number, you can check your case status here:

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

    3) I think the next steps vary by consulate, so take everything with a grain of salt and double-check the requirements for your country.  When our case status was set to "Ready," we submitted Packet 3 and the DS-160 electronically to the US Consulate in Montreal.

    4) Within a few days, we received Packet 4 from Montreal.  You do not have to submit anything for Packet 4, but you do need to print it off and bring it to your visa interview.

    5) We scheduled my fiancé's visa interview.  After the interview was scheduled, we were able to book his medical.

Thanks this info is so helpful! 😗 Can you tell me what packet 3 is? Is that sent to fiancé (in native country) or something I need to do on the State-side?

6033340700, you will be put on hold just a warning. Make sure you have your receipt number (it's on your NOA1 and NOA2) you need your name, beneficiaries name and birthday too.

You can start calling whenever, but I'd suggest waiting a week after NOA2. The NVC will tell you it takes up to 6 weeks, mine took 3 after my NOA2.

After they receive the case you'll eventually get the case number. They received my case in the morning and I called that same evening and got my case number, so just be persistent.

NVC does send a letter usually, but some people seem to never get it. It seems to be somewhat random and possibly country specific. I haven't gotten a letter at all yet, so calling definitely helped me. Once you have the number you go to https://ceac.state.gov and enter the number and you can track it until it says ready. Depending on your country if you have your NVC number you can schedule your interview, some countries I believe schedule it for you.

Hanks this is helpful. I also didn't know the google moment for NVC is the correct number for us to call. Very Much appreciated your response.

Ya, I called NVC everyday and eventually got the case number. Oddly enough NVC received it, but no case number, I called back that evening and they had it.

She has her medical tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

Can anyone state the National Visa Center number? I did not see it on our NOA2 form. How soon do we call after recieving NOA2? What steps to take after case number is recieved ? Does NVC send a letter with call center or do we get it only by us calling them?

Oh wow! We just got our NOA 2 from the California USCIS.

thats less than 90 days! Yay!

i was soooo worried about getting an REF because of issues with the spelling of my Fiances name, but looks like it all went through.

looks like they are workin after all :) your hard tax dollars at work that is ;)

It looks like you can bring your pay stubs, a W-2, and also something from your banking institution showing activity... I am Military so wondering if a set of orders would work as employment letter

Yes orders should work. Submit your LES too. The more evidence you send in to show "you can cover your bride to be" with expenses the better. A friend of mine didn't do that too thoroughly and when his girl was at interview, consulate asked for his stuff (tax returns) and he had to rush it to her.

Waiting on my NOA2, is the financial support form necessary, wondering if anybody can shed light on what they did for this

I sent my fiancé in-country the I-134 with last year's taxes , letters from my employer(s) stating terms and length of employment as well as income, and letter from my bank.

My banker specifically indicated the amount of deposits I made within last year, current balance, date my checking account was open.

This the fiancé takes to the interview with them.
