It does feel strange that we're all leaving VJ.. I'm thinking about starting a facebook group so that we can stay connected. @MLK2016 mentioned something about creating an alumni group.. think FB would be a great place for that..

Anyway, yeah, what is the last update for you? (what is the latest date?) Ours went from Ready, Administrative Processing, to Issued in the same day. Details below..

 

7/10/2017	CEAC Status changed to "Ready" (this means, my file has arrived at the Embassy)
8/2/2017	CEAC Status still "Ready" (But date changed to 8/2/2017, the day of the interview)
8/3/2017	CEAC Status still "Ready" (But date changed to 8/3/2017)
8/7/2017	CEAC Status "Adminstrative Processing" (Date changed (case last updated) to 8/7/2017)	11:35 AM
8/7/2017	CEAC Status "ISSUED"	9:00 PM

 

Yeah, the guy told us the computers/software was down so give them 10 business days to process.. I've also read from other reviews that they're slow to get the visa's back.. I'll let you know when it arrives.. 

so, instead to press "administratie processing" they press Refused, and believe me....i had one of the worst day of my life....also because i called someone at the Visa center (in Trinidad) and tell me that sometime, after approve a case , they change idea and they refuse it. My lawyer was livid and tell me to do not worry, but still, i spent the worst week of my life...really one of the worst!!!!

Good luck, worst embassy ever. It will take 2 months , so , your date will be in Sept, and you will notified by August 13, remember you can`t bring any electronic device and bring the w-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are approved, don`t even check the NVC website (my mistake), because it could be wrong and say "refused" and you will have the worst week of your life

Late last night, noticed that our status changed to "issued".. Woke up feeling blissful.. but now I feel like this guy..Realizing.. "wow, it's really happening.. I'm returning to the states".

Thank you!! :) So true what you say... Really grateful that it finally became an option for us.. We'll be celebrating 11 years together in October. We'll also be moving in October. So it's a new start and we hope to start a family via surrogacy and or adoption if all works well.  Thank you so much for your kind words. Very touching. Also I wish you the best. Thank you everyone again for all of your support. Being a part of this community has kept me busy and made the entire process a lot easier.. I remember when I started this journey a year ago, I was so overwhelmed and was stressed out about it all.. But I wasn't active at all on the forum until reaching the NVC stage..  We were all at a lost, not understanding a thing on how the NVC processed our cases.. 

 

What I've learned by creating the spreadsheet.... 

 

Using a lawyer does NOT mean you're safe from receiving a checklist. Nor does it allow you to process your case faster. 

CC's timing is based on the country where you come from.. Even though the NVC tells us "they're processed in the order they're received".. YEAH but not everyone is trained to review every country or the language.. So this is why that logic is misleading... 

There is no such thing as "under review".. Well maybe there is but there is no average waiting time when you reach that department.. 

When you start to detest the NVC hold music, you have done one of 2 things if not both...Been on hold too long or have called too many times.. hahahah

Getting a checklist SUCKS!! Out of 254 cases on our spreadsheet, 70 cases received a checklist which delayed their case.. HOPEFULLY your info will continue to prevent future NVC filers from having one.. People have already posted on the forum stating they made corrections to their files based on the checklist feedback!! @trininurse, please keep tagging people onto your forum to share stories about their checklists.. Thank you to all those that received a checklist for all of your contribution.

We would have been lost and even more frustrated with the process.. And alone.. It's been so nice to have a community to come to share this experience with. So that we can be reunited with our loved ones, return home, work in the US and/or start a new life. It was probably the most stress full and awful week , i did decide to don`t check any website, any forum, anything and let it be....yesterday we got a notification that we have some documents to pick up and we have finally have the Visa in hands.

i called NVC and they told me to call the Embassy, the Embassy does not have any clue, it is frustrating....

Hi, they kept the passport and they gave me a paper signed from the embassy, but why the website they refused? at this point i am waiting to have my visa in hand....

Hi Trininurse, 

it was terrible. You can `t bring any cellphone, ipad and anything else, so, that was the first problem. There no safety box in the embassy, so leave in the hotel or at home. 

Also, remember to bring the w-2 of the sponsor, does not matter if you have the tax transcript, but it is important to bring the w-2, and the transcript. First you will go to talk with a lady from Trinidad who is going to check all the documentation, she is not the most pleasant person of the world, after that, 20 minutes , you will have go to the interview, with an american women, who was very nice. 

We got approved, I have the paper signed,, but today i check the website and the say Refused....i am freaking out!!!!

Congratulations!!! That was a speedy delivery of SSN " 7 days " from POE date ..... Welcome to America and good luck with your job hunt.

 

 

Sorry the Office mixed up your name. It should't take that long to process your SSN upon arrival. Yes, In all states, You need a valid SSN to verify who you are, without it, nothing much can really be done! It's a vital piece of ID/Number in the USA. I will say, hang in there, get your SSN, then get a DL instead of getting a State ID, as that would be a waste of money as you will still need DL later if you want to drive. You only need " A state ID or a DL " as a proof of ID. Hang in there, i'm sure this would be resolved for you soon. The long wait is over, and you now in America. Welcome home and enjoy your stay

 

 

Have you filled your 2016 taxes yet? They know this is June, and by law every-one in America should have filled their 2016 taxes by now. They want to see that. Request for a transcript from IRS and take that with you, and that should take care of that request. All the best .
