  1. The USCIS I485 forms webpage is a great resource for self filers. Ensure you scroll through and read all of the links.
  2. As discussed, Transcript is best. IF you dare to provide the Federal tax return copy, it can't be just the 1040 which is only a few pages and not complete. They need the whole thing. All pages and schedules and including all proof of earnings... so W2s for employed and 1099s for self employed. As above, a 1099 is a earning statement for self employed. Are they? Offer letter, no. Current employment letter, yes. And that projected income amounts listed on it is your current income for the I864. Instructions state 6 months. Ensure you have read them. See above. Only if you are using assets because your income doesn't meet the FPGLs. Does your income meet it? Then don't use assets.
  3. A transcript is a receipt from IRS that proves you filed taxes and reported your income accordingly. A tax return (1040) proves you filled out the tax forms but doesn't mean your income was confirmed nor that you even filed taxes as filling one out doesn't mean you filed. FILING taxes is a requirement to be a sponsor. The transcript is best.
  4. Passport photos should be taken within 6 months of submission. If that's the case (and your embassy process and filing AOS is that close together which is unusual) the answer is yes but on photo paper.
  5. You can take on any name or names, in any order or combination as long as it appears as a part of his name or your name on the Marriage Certificate.
  6. You "can't" apply for a K1 SSN in the married name. It works 0.1% of the time. Please read and follow the VJ SSN guide.
